went to set up me ashton yesterday, with a fresh products tensioner, and 18-16 gearing. got the chain with the least amount of links i could in it, tensioning it up, it was still as loose as anything.and tensioning down it was rideable, but still way too lose for my liking.as half links generally aint my thing.realised it would be easier, cheaper, and stronger just to modify the tensioner. guess other bikes and other ratios may have this problem. so could come in useful. first pics: chain as it was before. note: even at extreme of adjustment, theres still a large amount of slack in chain. get a 6mm allen key, remove the jockey wheel. grab a drill and a bit the same size as the bolt.(i used an a/f sized drill, just slightly smaller than the drill,so i could place a thread in the tensioner.but using one the same size as the original hole will do the job just as well). if you look at the tensioner, theres 3 large holes below the main one which had the bolt through it. get your drill, and drill out the middle one of these holes out to the same size as the original bolt hole. note: the aluminium is very soft, even using a hand drill, and taking pics midway through, the hole took only a couple of minutes to drill. now get the bolt, and place it in this hole(if like me, you intend to screw the bolt into this hole, then you should go and get a tap and die, however,if like me, and its raining, and your taps are in the shed.the bolt is harder than the tensioner, so i cut the thread in the tensioner using the bolt) now slacken off the bolt that goes through the mech hanger, and loosen the quick release, move the tensioner up, and reattach the jockey wheel, using a spanner to screw it on from behind if theres now a thread in the hole, otherwise, just tighten the allen key up. and tension the chain as you usually would be moving the arm down, and tightening the mech hanger bolt and the quick release. now the chain is nice and tight, and theres still a small bit of adjustment on the tensioner before it runs out. hope this is of use to some people, seems fairly simple, took me 20 minutes to do with searching for tools, taking pics etc.

at a guess, loads of people are. but its illegal in most cases, hence the reason i dont bother with it.if your wiling to buy summit a couple of years old or more, youll often find the insurance drops heavily. dont know your age, or your risk of postcode.but stuff like early e46 318's and the like are 140 bhp, but dont come to high on the insurance. also if ur willing to get an old shape focus, 2.0 zetec z, is 150 bhp,(same power as buckys van, for anyone thats counting, and probably not a million miles off on the weight).and is group 8 insurance. focus's are common as muck, parts are cheap, therefore repairs are cheap,as theres loadsa about, u can pick a minter when you buy one, as theyll be plenty to look at it. for those who think its legal to insure a car in your parents name, your insuring it with them as the main driver, and you as the second driver, if you drive it more than them, you are the main driver.therefore your providing the insurer with false information, thus invalidating your insurance. so if you crash, your insurers may not pay out, what usually happens then, is the courts will force your insurance company to compensate the victim. your insurance company can then legally recoup any costs incurred(so compensation, plus there legal costs in the bit between your insurance company and the victim, and then any costs incurred in them gettin there cash off you). which leavs you out of pocket, seriously (£15000 car, 2 whiplash claims of £2000 each, and a couple of grand in legal costs), easily leaves you £20,000 out of pocket, and thats if you do summit like that, sideswipe that £55k x5 on the motorway, carrying a doctor, his wife, and 2 kids, forcing them into the central reservation and into the path of oncoming traffic, and the costs will run possibly into the millions. thats before the next time you apply for insurance and you have to answer the bithave you ever been declined insurance, and you say yes, and end up payin over twice the price. or the police get involved for you driving without insurance.

nope but then were not running his prototype brake pads, which have a stickyness unrivalled by super glue,so were not gunna get the grip required to do it. and darren, you must of been looking the other way at the time. cant see why anyone would lie about stuff, ever
-
depends, but wright pads on here, has from either 2 or 1 finger braking, cracked 4 cylinders due to braking power, they split along the seams, shearing the pins holding the 2 sides of the cylinders together.

Apparantly New Echo Brakes - Seen On Otn

being counter culture is cool, lets go backwards, itll make us look cool i think is the idea, like wearing old skool shoes, riding steel frames, snes etc. dengs progression, and therefore isnt cool, or something like that my whole status on whether you should have deng on your bike, its ur bike, fit it with what parts you want. as for this whole idea of new rim brakes, can anyone say anything about the internals of them?? -
its primer, final colour will be revealed in a few hours, dont wanna ruin the suprise.however a couple of people already know what colour its going to be.(Rothwell keep it shut)

thats not it, for sure, as that is a public hanging in iraq, of the hoist kind, where they just put the noose round ur neck and slowly lift you up. saddams was a private execution. with a drop, he basically stands there with the noose round his neck, and a trapdoor opens in the floor,he drops suddenly and the force breaks his neck and is a much more instant death. personally i dont think he should of been hung for what he did,its certainly not what the US wanted i dont think, i also doubt it will make iraq more stable. 2 wrongs dont make a right, killing him doesnt bring those people back, it doesnt achieve anything.as for a waste of money, ill not talk about the billions the uk has spent on the war in iraq, which if you want to get all political is largely about control of oil fields, and thats achieved nothing, could possibly see it as viable if those millions of taxpayers money thats spent, was recouped by a cut in oil prices to the uk consumer, but it hasnt, at least then it would be economically viable and not just us being bossed around by the us, who did most certainly go in for oil,but thats a different topic entirely. as for him being a power hungry wanker, as fatpants so lovingly put it, either of the bush's, loved to flex there muscle, they get the power, they use it, it happens.just because were part of the western world(not calling it western civilization, as ghandi said no such thing as western CIVILization existed), somehow makes it tolerable?

frame arrived this morning off porter.(note to self, need to leave a reference),discribed perfectly by him, as abused.gunna tart it up, then build it up so, as it came out of the box(small bit of prep done to it): as it was of about 3pm,primered up finished bike. needs a new rear tyre, and white and black ashton graphics to finish it off

up to you really, comp, or street rider. if your purely comp and natty, going as far as 18:18 is good, makes everything light, but no power for gaps. if your pure street, i mean manuals, rolling pedal gaps, not so much into taps etc, then you could go for 18-14/13 or similar. generally most people who ride a mixture of stuff, go for 18:16 or 18:15, generally is down to general preference, remember riding in worcester a couple of years back on my monty, with 22-14 gearing, seemed fine, cos i had powerhouse legs at the time, now find im more suited to 18:15, or 18:16. doesnt seem to make a whole load of difference to me, but tis personal preference.

couple of points here, everyones saying theres basically maggies, with a new hope style lever. no ones even dared mention that they could be hugely different internally. unlikely to be majorly different, as its still 2 sets of pistons(1 master, 2 slave) and pressure between them making the brake work, but altered diameters,closed/open reservoirs, different seals, etc. so could be running on a DOT 4/5 set up. as for the comment, the slave cylinders look like maggies, of course there gunna look like maggies. as if they didnt theyd never catch on. if it had a different mounting system. then to change to them, wed have to buy a new frame, new mounts, new booster and the brake set up. pretty big outlay so wouldnt be as popular, whereas this would mean could be run on all the existing frames, and would mean no industry standard would need to be changed. also bare in mind, Deng has got a lot of parts already on the market, would be stupid to make everything incompatible, makes a lot of sense for the new system to match up with the old mounts, and old boosters. as for whether its deng, im still unsure, could be a home brew jobbie leaked onto the net by someone and a story made up for all we know.could be maggie protos, deng protos, small independant company protos,or hope prototypes(sayin hope as the levers very hope-esque,and also there a company thats no realising the potential in the trials community, with the pro 2-trials specific hub, trials specific disc as it is. and there aware a lot of there headset and stem jobs are going to trials riders) -
regularly on a friday night if im going out clubbin, have a £15 punt on euro millions, my mate does the same and we split the winning. seems excessive, but never won less than £14.20 doin it, so £7.50 is 3 pints, hell thats not gunna change our night, but before now, won £50 or £80 a piece. which means saturday night is basically free. and theres always the chance that one day, well win something massive. so basically we lose, it doesnt affect our night out in a negative way, as even the full £15 quid each is no big loss, difference between gettin a taxi an a bus, or buyin a couple of drinks for birds. but even a small win like £50 each is quite a big bonus for saturday night, pays for a curry, taxi, entry to a club an about 8-9 pints, which is already a half decent night. then winning £1000 or above, would obiviously just be mint, and statistically on 20 tickets a week, shouldnt be to long.

straight from the angry thread, altho part of it belongs in the happy thread, but most of it belongs in here: me and hayley are over, in a rollercoaster of emotions right now. last night, felt crap, got up this morning, went to work, got through most of the day but felt down. then went out for a drive to get some stuff, totally broke down an lost it in the car, was well close to tears. came back, had a shower, and hit the gym. was pissed off with stuff, so was an animal in the gym pumpin out mega sets.then was in the gym,and it hit me again, had to walk out the gym,get in me car and drive, just to try an clear me head. was proper proper cut up on the way home about it.in tears and everything. not so much cos i lost her, but cos i lost her due to a stupid misplaced text at the wrong time. got home, aint really done nothing, and feel absolutely fine. not bothering me in the slightest right now. crazy, been with and broke up with so many girls, but never felt this bad before, even though we split on good terms, but i think that makes it worse. hell, we wer made for each other.absolute perfection. just a shame we wer made 7 an a half years apart. makes me angry an sad an happy an greatful in equal amounts.just crazy right now. keep thinking i never expected it to last this long, but never expected it to end either. shes said she might ring me on new years eve,but dont know wether she will or why,or whats gunna be said. totally kicking myself for all the things i should of done, but didnt. was the first girl in 2 years, who id entertained commiting with, she wasnt to clingy, but was there. she changed me, realised there was more to it than casual sex.and the only one who id thought itd be worth changing my lifestyle to be with. now shes gone, im a different person. now a new me, but just lost the new life and the new love i had to go with it. and beau, dont lose her kiddo. -
yea but if a car hits a wall, the council/wallowner, will usually claim off the blokes insurance to recoup the cost of repairing the wall.

dont think that narrows it down much, the lads been on a 10 a month habit for the last couple of years.

im with tiscali, and used to use a usb modem. but since switching to wireless. bought a belkin modem/router built in, cost me like £60 from curry's. is all i need, plug the router straight into the phone line. once set up, its constantly connected, meaning all you need to do is once its set up, is turn the laptop on , and connect to the home network(LAN), which is already connected to the internet(technically WAN).

am i the only idiot that just rivets me chain, and doesnt bother with split links.

u tensioning up or down with the fresh products one, try it tother way, will usually solve the problem.

1), simplest way.is in photoshop or whatever, stick two pics together side by side, save it as background then select extended desktop, (knowing the pixel dimensions of each screen is a bonus). 2) dont think itll stay there. may be some settings to tweak to make it though 3) aint got a clue, and aint runnin dual screen to find out atm. googling this might solve ur problems though.
