    Snow!

mixture of things here. 1) as a country, not used to snow, were not prepared for it.the number of people over the age of about 8 with footwear for walking in snow is very low(not that wet feet would be an excuse for closing schools, but using it as an example. snow chains, people who can drive in snow, snowploughs, the number of gritting wagons owned by the council etc) are all way to low to support a standard living in wintery conditions, and due to the lack of money left by a couple of days snow a year(if that - remembering most motorways clear themselves to a certain extent with the amount of traffic etc) its not economically viable to do so, on the off chance. 2) as a country not used to snow, kids go crazy over it, i mean real crazy.people will walk miles for a big snowball fight, go sledging all day. and skip school to do this stuff, and in school, gettin people to concentrate with snow out the window is nigh on impossible. 3) transport. i live in a rual area, currently theres 3 inches of snow on the road outside my house(main road, 1 lane going either direction). its up a hill, going up or down it is semi dangerous if your not used to driving vehicles in this manner, as half the uk arent. but when you get to smaller roads than mine, there virtually unpassable, certainly knowing my old schools bus routes, there not the kinda roads id wanna attempt in this weather(steep, narrow lanes, with twisty off camber bends). also note in my school, about 80% of teachers lived over 12 miles away. some literally cant get to the school, due to the conditions of their road(teachers seem to have a fetish for secluded cottages in the hills and houses in small, high up villages round my end) others would get there, but much later. meaning children would be without teachers. 4) health and safety, heres the big one. im sure theres a rule saying no more than 32 pupils(or a very similar number) per qualified teacher in the school, and very few teachers just hang round the school on there frees. so if more than 2 or 3 teachers were late, or didnt come in. the school would be breaking the law. without gettin a supply teacher, which no one listens to, so nothings learnt. also theres the fear that kids go crazy in the snow, my mum works at a school, which was open today, one lads been airlifted to hospital with a suspected broken neck. due to running head first into a snowman for a laugh. yesterday 2 were taken to hospital by a member of staff. after a snowball fight. as people were lobbing stones and bits of tarmac mixed in with the snow.(today snowball fights wer banned at this school) and thats before all the unreported, cuts, bumps, bruises. and the fact if someone fell over, due to improperly cleared walkways etc, the school would be liable.
  2. meh, mr elding, i challenge you to a pose off. my entries for total poser-ishness. thats not too bad ^^ that on the other hand, is rather posey^^ and then theres no excuse at all ^^
  3. snappety, mine is too, crazy eh??
  4. yea tis crazy, compared to on a friday night in the summer after clubbin, randomers walkin round sellin em for £1. buy like 20 and give em to people for sh*ts an giggles. whereas now its just expense, and not as humourous.
  5. surely remote start has a point anyway, to warm your car up before you get in it, id love to have my alarm on me phone go off, minus 8 outside, go to me bedroom window in me boxers, fire me car up. go get dressed, get me lunchbox, wallet, etc, open any important looking mail. and go jump in a nice warm toasty car. as for the remote start, its rather easy to wire, compared to the alarm itself, from what i found at least. however. the alarms you tend to get them on,unless a proffessionally installed clifford, tend to very tempermental and crappy, and non insurance improved.

    Snow!

  7. woah, hope you aint got the itunes set on auto update, cos otherwise will have already cleared your ipod out of songs. in which case youve lost all your music. otherwise: when you connect your pc upto your ipod, and itunes asks if youd like to replace all songs on it, from the songs on the pc(think youve got the ipod shared between 2 pc's) click no. then go into my computer, whatever drive your ipod is listed as. have it set to view hidden files and folders. in the hidden control folder. there will be files ranging from f01 to about f049. inside them is your music. all the file names have been replaced with a 4 letter combination. but all ID3 tags will still work. so copy them all onto your pc. unplug ur ipod. then go to the playlists on your ipod. youll then have to create every playlist again(which for me was no hassle. as i have a smart playlist for every album). which takes a while, but beats losing all your songs. and for future reference. once you done. click export library, and save it somewhere easy to find, then burn that library file to disk/stash it on ur ipod as a file. or whatever. that way if it happens again, you dont have to create your playlists. as you can just import the library. thats the manual way of doing it. however theres a few programs kicking around that claim to be able to retrieve the playlists off the ipod. although the one i had never worked.
  8. never ever when cold, and bored, and feeling like having some fun. open your microwave up. stick to forks in the door catches, so it thinks its open, whack it on for 8 minutes, then turn it on. its just not wise, sparks tend to randomly fly off random metal objects, of which there are many in the kitchen, including the door handle to get out of the kitchen. never ever think it would be amusing to swim in lake vyrnwy when theres 4 inches of snow on the ground, for s**ts and giggles. it may of been a good idea. had your mates not thought it would be funny to throw your clothes in the lake and fill your trainers with snow, also for s**ts and giggles. never ever ride a motorboard at 35mph down a gravel track.while not wearing a helmet. a sheep will run off scared and startle you, although you initially control the wobble you get, and end up kind of carving from side to side for a few seconds. your back end will give way. and you will end up hittin head on said gravel track, rear of cranium first. all will appear fine at first. but at 11pm that night, while sessioning some DH game on PS2. you will lose your ability to speak in logical sentences, not only will this appear funny.and possibly be damaging to your mental health. it takes great difficulty to tell your mates of this problem, due to you being incapable of speaking in coherent sentences. other than those 3 exact situations. in those exact places. at those exact speeds, its all good. also, might wanna give beastality a miss. never wish to have anything(fingers, erotic toys, penis etc) inserted into my rectum. its one of the few occasions i would raise a hand to a woman. its just sooo wrong.
  9. not really, sure my rims an 18" x 9" dont think its overly wide either, compared to some of the 60k executive cars with like 300-600 bhp there selling these days. its just cos ur used to mini sizes mate. always found www.rochfordtyres.co.uk to have a good selection at a good price, and there customer service is good. but dont know what range theyce got at the moment.
  10. yea, and when its with an older party seems totally different to(i.e when your the youngster). im 19, personally wouldnt touch anything below 18 now(other than the quick passionate snog on the dance floor of a crowded club, with a 17 year old, whos got in by chance, but then shes legally meant to 18 to be in there anyway). however. going the other way, ill consider anything this side of 30. last proper g/f was 26. was texting a 28 yr old the other week. its not really the legal issues though(altho 16-18 is perfectly legal), and as much as many younger(talking 15-18,skinny,tight and toned) look oh so pretty, and are soo beautiful, and really could do it for me. the appeal of them just isnt there. dunno wether its me brain telling me it aint right, or my body telling me i couldnt keep up. or the fact that girls at that age, are either relatively inexperienced.or have been around a bit too much.which are both no no's in my book. l
  11. sorry, but hendrixmaster, from your last few car posts, starting to think your automotie knowledge is limited. ive never seen a 1.9 transit....ever.because they probably dont exist. also, if your going to go down the Van route, Vito's are the future.
  12. 306 TD or HDI. Vectra 2.0 DI, 1.7 TD, or one of the numerous other engines out there(Dependant on year). Mondeo 1.8TD. BMW 318 TDS, or 320TDS. can list cars forever, really need an idea on budget though
  13. you do realise how much of a stupidly good deal working offshore is. for them 2 weeks your offshore. you dont have any cost of living, your accomadation, food, washing, tv,internet, etc is all totally free.so is gunna work out a lot more than £30k of difference. secondly as for the company car thing, working offshore, your earning 30k more a year, you could buy a tidy car for 10k every year. and at the end sell if for nothing. and still be £20k a year better off. also youd only be running a car for just over half the year. so youd be spending less on fuel, insurance etc.and your car would last longer between services, and just generally. as for pensions, your blowing 10k a year on a car(which is a very nice company car 1 year old.) itll sel for about £6-£9k depending on depriciation most likely. you could just save that £6k-£9k a year yourself, and have a lot better prospects than any pension were paying into right now). and even after all that lot, your still £20,000 up. altho bear in mind, i wouldnt be 100% your GF will be faithful.
  14. u do realise the flaires, hardly a hot hatch, and giving the fact that you payed £1800 insurance on it TPFT, and are now paying £250 on an ST, is nothing to do with fords being cheaper on the insurance, its down to your age, and experience(even if it as an experienced crash test dummy, but the insurance dont know), and no claims. also whats the £35,000 car you were saying you bought the other day. clearly wasnt your capri or ST24, and cant see an RX8 costing that much right now.and you didnt have to pay for your ST, which wouldnt be £35,000 either. you got a secret car your hiding up your sleeve here or something?? but still there pretty nice motors. although not wanting to get into an argument. dont think your "performance" mods on your ST24, have done it any good, other than make it roar more, and use more fuel. air temperature mod is a resistor placed across the 2 sides. so its telling your engine your drawing in the coldest air the sensor can read, so it adds more fuel(As cold air is denser, and its trying to keep the magic 14.7:1 air:fuel mix) so its just going out of perfect combustion, and overfuelling. and then not only that, your drilling an airbox, so warmer air from the engine bay, as opposed to the cooler air being ducted into the airbox.is being put into the engine, which is less dense. so your putting warmer air than normal into the engine, but telling it your putting colder air than normal in. sounds like a way to waste a tank of fuel in a short time, for no real performance gain. my 2 cents on the subject. 90's and onwards, for play around cars(well up until 2004) cars, that are fast, fun,and predictable on the handling, the vaux have got it hands down. astra gsi's,nova's and corsas(yea they got the chav image, but there predictable, fast for what they are an low cost).last couple of years, for fast cars. think ford are coming back over vauxhall. st220 beats the veccy GSI hands down(and i have drove both). new fiesta feels a lot nicer than the new corsa(again have driven both). focus ST ive only ever parked one up off a ramp at work, but seems to be favourable over the astra turbos. and pre 90's is a ford win again. xr2, xr3i, xr4i+xr4x4i, capri.rs tubby. all seem to beat the vaux rivals of there day. so in my eyes depend what kinda age car your looking at. and if your not looking at them for fun. then both companies make respectable daily drivers, and in that its down to simple stuff, like where your lights/stereo/other aux controls are, which seats suit you best. as all engines will cruise at motorway speeds these days.
  15. dont wanna put a downer on things, cos ill probably attend for sh*ts and giggles. but.... have any of you spent a reasonable amount of time outside once the suns been out of the sky for a couple of hours at this time of year. its proper brass knuckles, and were not even in a cold spell atm. its fine, ive just been for a 10 minute kurb session now, and i was fine once id been riding a couple of minutes, as i was nice and warm.. but.... its not at its coldest, and stopping, once you stop, youll freeze pretty quick.
  16. 3k in an isa, then play the risk game, which is risk free, as you cant lose, but you might not make, and stick £7k in premium bonds, or is it just me that loves there tax freeeness, and chance to win big, its basically a bunch of lottery tickets. but u get your money back if they all lose.
  17. w810i, is cable only, and its service cable as opposed to the usb one you get with the phone. nokia 5140 is DCT4 isnt it, so trycktill will do it. sagem, and motorolla, aint got a clue, dont think sagem will accept codes though.
  18. to everyone that said no to a million, hell yea, id give up sex for a million, no worries, you all say that a million not much. but i dont think any of us could comprehend, £1million, in £50 notes bundled up, thats 20,000 £50 notes. trust me, if you wer wise with it. a 5% yearly profits nothing, and even at that, its £1000 a week. for the rest of your life. (before you mention getting interest on what you earnt last year as interest). on that kinda money, i could do what i want within reason, i could live a life of leisure, with a tidy car on finance(im talking a £30k + car on a 3 year deal), paying off a mortgage of £1k a month. and still have 2k a month to live on, which is more than what some people earn before they take there tax, pension, mortgage out of it. youd be set for life. so yea,id give up a lifetime of sex, for £1million. lifes too short not too, could be rich, have fun, and not get laid, have a hell of a life, and get hit by a bus in 3 months, or you could go for 3 months, with no sex due to being single and looking, and too poor to go out, no money, and then get hit by a bus. meh, wats the point.
  19. i would say move in with her, if we stood around and wondered, what happens if it all goes tits up, then im sure wed never do half of the stuff we do in life, with regards women, bikes, cars, going out. etc. but... heres my 2 cents on it, dont deny yourself the chance of going to halls, to move in with some bird you used to go out with, maybe move in with her second year or summit if you still want, but staying in halls, making friends with your neighbours, nights out on the piss, parties back in halls, 5am water fights, 50 people pillow fights at a moments notice, and the large abundance of single girls, great mates, and that community feeling. is more than worth it all.
  20. yea, if you get something, like a maxxis high roller, dual ply, the sidewalls are uber stiff(due to being twin ply), and way less likely to pinch.
  21. 22-19 sounds about right for real trials, if your into the more streety approach to stuff, you may find 22-17, but from your bike set up, would think 22-19 would be better. unless your a real powerhouse(or a closet bmx rider, covering up with a stock bike)
  22. erm, do you not need to tell us your front sprocket size for this topic to be of any use, you could be runnin a 16t,or a 52t upfront. and also personal preference.
  23. didnt like children of men at all, thought it was gunna be good, but just wasnt, was totally unrealistic in parts, was trying to be funny in others, when it didnt have a place, looked super low budget in bits, and loads of it seemed rather low tech britain(like would fit if it was set in an alternative late 70's/early 80's). had a story, but didnt appear to be going any where, bits about the project where never explained, etc.
  24. hehe, yea, was half way through writing it before, hadnt put the name in, walked off to answer the door, came back, and clicked post, was only later i saw that i hadnt wrote the name of the film in. I dunno, when i watched it, i thought it was really mint, thinking back, some bits were a bit crap(i.e the head rolling round on the floor, and the eyes looking up+ the cheesy 30's,60's and 90's versions of the story at the start when there stuck in the lodge, and the rocket launcher) but every film has its crap bits, and first time round they didnt seem crap. also doesnt help that im a sucker for danny dyer, possibly even more now hes been typecast as the drug taking, violent, cockney chav)
  25. --> QUOTE(joe b @ Jan 27 2007, 05:34 PM) ←Why?! The whole point of a video competition is to compete with videos. So limiting the length of videos will then obviously limit the 'producers' capabilities and therefore is making the point of the competition pretty insignificant and obsolete. Just my thoughts... All the other rules are good, especially the one about 'external influences' . Cheers, Joe. because, for it to be fair, everyone should need to watch every video in its entirity, before voting, 15 entries, all at sub 2 minutes, means ill be wasting no more than half an hour voting on this comp(even though i may watch one vid 25 times over later on, trying to learn a move i see), meaning theyll be loads of us voting, if 15 entries wer made, but some videos where 15 minutes long, i could spend 3.5 hours watching all the vids, by which time, ill of forgot what was in each vid, and have to watch some of them again. as for it limiting the capabilities, yes and no, youll have to fit all the best bits in to 2 minutes, but theres gotta be a time limit on it. otherwise it could go on for ever, its meant to be a showcase of your skill and originality, not a 5 hour blockbuster on the 734 ways to mount a kerb.same as in the olympics etc, floor routines in gym, have a time limit, its a showcase of your best bits, not your entire repitoure.
