  1. Yea but one persons abuse, is another persons just comment. not wanting to use examples here. but Ben Cox's rant to someone the other day, when someone compared him to the people that killed DeeJ, was totally over the top in my eyes, totally uncalled for, a bunch of swearing, insults etc. and its not even the heat of the moment thing(well maybe, but not the initial, rip his head off heat of the moment), as he stuck it in capitals, then switched it to lower case to sign his name. but then not really knowing DeeJ,maybe id say that was over the top, but then to Ben, maybe it wasnt. Another example, the Danny and Hannah thing in the happy thread, 3 pages of p*ss taking. who do you burn, the guy that first took the mick, as a bit of a friendly bit of fun, the next guy who expanded on it with a funny comment, or the 84.6 losers who joined in with "ROFLCOPTER internet paedo" comments and took it totally over the top. or do you burn "Dannah"(just like Bennifer, only slightly poorer and with added Deng) for putting something personal like that on the internet, and then getting the hump when people take the mick. what do you thank or +rep them for? adding something to the forum, in which case, adding what?? go to the girl trouble thread, do you + rep the guy who gave the helpful advice. as hes helped someone out(you certainly couldnt burn them for it(although what constitutes good advice is a matter of opinion)) or do you +rep the guy who makes the hilarious comment, that has you laughing in stitches, as lets be honest, hes made your day that little bit better, adding some comic value to the forum, and made light of what is a very serious matter. But then the person who posted their problem, could view it the same as you, and find it very funny, or could be sat in the corner, almost in tears, because someones just ripped into him, and no one takes his problems serious. I could burn Boswells topics, or some of the things Sonny Clarke said about wanting to ban all the "in-crowd", as to me they where pretty pointless/uncalled for, but then theres problem 4000 mod riding adolescent teens, who agree with him. for the above reasons, im going to "burn" you for your idea (unless you exclude it from all parts of the forum, apart from trials chat, as thats generally the only place you could "thank" or "burn" someone for good or bad advice). And as most of the problems in here, relate to bitching in chit chat, it wont solve anything.
  2. used food colouring in mine, not to produce a strong colour, just to make seeing air bubbles easier. but it never damaged it in like 18 months of use. cant see that theres much in food colouring thats gunna rot the seals.
  3. lol, i wasnt quite that bad, but its like, im ill, bugger all to do, nothing to watch on tv, cant really go out and ride my bike as im off work on the sick, lets whack on the xbox360, only to find out that theres no xbox live today. and to be fair, ive only had xbox live like 10 days, its not like i live on it all my life, its just my new little amusement whilst im too ill to go to the gym/ride my motorbike/drink/make sexy time.
  4. its not that bad no, your parents bought you a 2005 bike, and are now updating it for you, because its too old? god id be lucky if my mum bought me a new pair of enduro trousers for crimbo, let alone another bike.
  5. off work ill, and theres no xbox live today, could cry.
  6. nah im generally very trusting, and chances are if i saw it, id be alot more positive than i am now. just dont like telling people to buy stuff off 2 pictures(cos u understand if i said it looks like a good buy, and then turns out to be a bag of nails, id feel a bit guilty) yea, its got bmw m3 replica mirrors on it. not saying you shouldnt buy it, as i put in my previous post, their just warning signs id look at myself if buying, or selling a car. thing with buying cars is, youve got to look, buy, then stop looking, youll always find a better deal if you carry on looking you been to any auctions? because as you seem to buying privately, youve got no more comeback than if you bought from an auction, might be worth going to a couple, as you may find a bargain, a week last thursday i saw a x reg 206 1.1 go through prees motor auctions at £630, looked tidy, sounded tidy, had got 80 something thousand on the clock.
  7. isnt that just vinyl wrap, rather than actual paint, if so, providing the original paint job was decent quality, a day with a hot air gun/steam cleaner, some tar and glue remover, and a tub of polish, and apart from the wheels, the daft front splitter, and the front bump strip, itd be back to normal, and the splitter and the wheels will come straight off, and its not gunna cost the earth to get a 4 foot x 2 inch strip sprayed black. i say wait till its worth feck all, then buy it.
  8. dont bother, its the biggest waste of time ever really. as for him being a mechanic, it shouldnt really make it any easier for him to get it through the mot, although it may do, dependant on the garage. upping the idel speed wouldnt really make any difference to starting, however it would cover up a lumpy idle/small misfire. such as an incorrect spark plug gap, dodgy idle control valve, coked up throttle body, or headgasket failiure, althought for a mechanic the first three are fixable for free/about £5, and the last one would cost about £75.so why he wouldnt do it, is beyong me. 2 big issues for me though are the rear windows, and the mirrors, it quite clearly has been owned by a boy racer type at some point. also he works in the motor trade, cars like that will go stupid quick, as their desirable, why is he so keen to drop the price £150, also as a mechanic, the rub strip on the front, is available new for like £25, and from a scrappy for about £2, why is he too lazy to fit it. maybe im being a bit harsh here, but personally there all warning signs id take note of.
  9. no, actually i havent, im intrigued now, i played on my trials bike, then came on here, then cod4, if thats any use to you
  10. i know of 2 year old vauxhall corsas that have been worse than that, i know of people whove returned audis with similar problems, there is bad examples of every cars (clarksons ford gt anyone?) likewise theres probably hyundia accents on 200k with no problems. cant argue about astras, although the mk3's are all starting to attract rust now. considered a focus, theres plenty of focaye with between 70 and 120k on, in a variety of engine sizes, hanging round for £750-£900.
  11. and ive worked on enough polos with knackered gear boxes, and dodgy idle control valves, to tell you that vw's aint all their cracked up to be. the 8v tu, pug/citreon lumps (the 1.1 and 1.4's basically) are bomb proof, and that saxos/106's dont rot unless theyve had accident repair, and are generally reliable, especially if you get a model with manual windows etc. also bear in mind, no matter how good a car is, a car thats done 120k will be getting tired, sure the engine may be good, but on a 10 year old polo/golf, youll need to be looking at bottom ball joints, shock absorbers, arb links, track rod ends, bottom arm bushes etc. sure you would on a clio as well, but if your getting a lower mileage clio/106, theres less chance of it, dont neccesarily need to look online, yellow pages, local garages "hello there, im looking for a cheap runaround to get me from a to b "(dont mention its your first car on the phone, or even when you get there if you can help it). if they got a few, take the details, get insurance quotes, if they got a website go on it, see if theres any pics on there. bonus of doing this is you get the stuff theyve took as trade in, that they may of just shipped out to the auction, and generally anything above auction price is a bonus to them, and auction price is about feck all, you may end up having to give it a valet yourself when you get it, but if anything, thats a bonus, as they wont have had chance to cover up anything by washing the leaking oil off the engine etc. failing that, classifieds in local papers is always a good one. and dont forget pistonheads, although its more performance orientated, its free to advertise, so you get a lot of people sticking cars up there, and generally not a lot of people looking at them, so you can find some right bargains, which havent sold, and the people cant work out why, so are willing to lower the price further still.
  12. first tip, drop autotrader, cheap cars sell easy.unless their from a garage that pays a subscription to autotrader, someones just payed £20-30 to stick their car online, either because there an idiot, or because they cant sell it in the local paper or whatever. so your already taking a chance their avoid the saxo, its at a garage, and with 12 months mot, its worth a lot more than that, they know that, they could put an mot on it for bugger all. or near enough bugger all. but they wont, got to ask why not. the risk you run with buying an mot failure, is like i always say, if youve got to ask questions, you dont know enough to be touching it, i.e if your saying "what should i be looking out for on a car with no mot", you probably havent got the mechanical knowledge to take on the jobs that will need doing, and youll be paying money just to get it through an mot. id probably give that 1999 clio a miss, its got aftermarket alloys on, which either scream boy racer, or the original wheels have been damaged. either way its had a thrashing or a crashing. fiesta looks alright, as do the other, bare in mind the mk1 clios do rust, and they are 14 years old. rest of its just general stuff to look for when you to look for them, rust on the sills/arches/fuel filler/bottom of boots and doors, tyre condition, (a car thats £150 cheaper than an identical one next to it,is just as expensive, if it needs 4 tyres), find out when the cam belt was changed, condition of the water, colour of the oil, check the glass for matching security markings, check the paint all matches. if you can jack it up, check the wheel bearings, check the clutch aint slipping. and haggle ta feck, cars arent selling at the moment because no ones got any money, so he probably hasnt had that many people offering decent prices for it, and hes probably desperate to sell, as if its a dealer, the cars depreciating month by month on his forecourt, or if its a private seller, its only a few weeks till the next mortgage payment or the like.
  13. theres also mx vs atv :untamed for the 360, or mtx mototrax and mx vs atv:unleashed off the original xbox work in the 360 too.
  14. doesnt this mean that women can never get into power on the forum, great idea! i say we go one step further and remove the rights of female members to vote on any polls in trials forum, nor should they be allowed to be seen drunk in public, going back to when great britain, used to have an empire, in the good ol days(only the very senior members will remember them times.) only issue i can see though, is that the old rule about pregnant women being allowed to urinate in a policemans helmet, would have to transferred over too, and any female member of trials forum would be able to request the helmet of a senior member, so as to accomadate there relief of excess pressure in the bladder(proviing they where pregnant of course).
  15. yea,but surely everyone saying people will have to cut back, and downsize their house etc, well surely, then they should do it... we dont need all the stuff weve got(including the stuff i reeled off in my last post), weve just come to expect. speak to your parents/older aunts/uncles (the people growing up in the late 50/the 60's) no one spent half a weeks wages on a pair of jeans, when you learnt to drive you learnt to drive in your parents car, typically your dad had a car, your mum didnt, you didnt, unless you where working etc. the house had one tv, etc. and this was when britain was supposedly still great, we still had a motor industry, and we still had engineering/manufacturing plants. and back then people had to make do. now weve got idiots sittin in hot tubs, drinking echo falls, talking about how the audi a4's going to have to go- well of course it is, you only earn 23k a year. im fully aware of a family, whose dad put down £20k for their house, they live in a 4/5 bed semi, with a garage, a mass of land, drive a vw eos(convertible) 07 plate, and a 5 year old vw passat. theyve got everything, the dogs bollocks like, but theyve had to borrow £3500 to pay their sons uni tuition fees,as theyve just got back from barbados and moneys a bit tight right now. its them kind of people that are going to be in trouble, but hang on, its not like this has just happened overnight, and they where well aware their son was going to university, should they not of looked ahead, and thought "hang on, where going to need £3,500 come september, should we spend £3000 on going to barbados" people have relied on living beyond their means for too long. as for the price of basic foods and the like going up, i tend to the weekly shop for home, and yes its gone up, but then some stuffs come down too, bread from asda(smart price bread) is down 37p to 30p, asda peppered steak slices(pasties) are down £1.19 to £1, which is now cheaper than when i first started doing the shopping 2 years ago, milks gone up about 15p per 4 pints, but i just get 8 pints from iceland for £2 now. lagers neither here nor there, used to be like £10 for a 24 pack, its more like £15 now, but quite often get offers, 3 packs of 18 cans for £20. which is 54 cans for £20, which is cheaper than it used to be. if the cost of my weekly shop has gone up by more than £1-£2 ill be suprised, even with a large family thats only going to be about £5, so how about they lay off the fags or the booze one night a week, job done. as for the low demand in work, and the loss of jobs, i agree its effecting a lot of people(builders, estate agents, car salesmen, people who work in car manufacturing plants etc) but at the same time, your regular plumber who does repairs, as opposed to installs the plumbing in new houses, is doing ok. the car maintenance side of things is picking up, as no-one can afford a new car, so theres more sheds on the road, requiring more work, the caravan and camping business has never been so healthy, as people arent holidaying abroad. its all swings and roundabouts.
  16. i think a lot of this is blown out of proportion. of course the housing markets going to fall, but it was never going to keep on going, its fell before, and been high before. people are going into debt, but they have been for years. the countries going to be in debt, but its just going to get it another way,(cutting back on the army, raising taxes etc) call me a twat, but im actually sittin here, thinkin the credit crunch is probably going to benefit me. was looking at getting a house when i was 22/23. im now looking at doing it sooner. im still earning the same as what as i was last year, i dont really look like im going to be losing my job due to the "credit crunch", but house prices are falling. granted its going to be harder to get a mortgage, but meh, i dont think its going to be too much of an issue. everyones saying no ones got any money, but i dont know, for me, its a brilliant time, im still earning the same wage, but am getting loads of stuff cheaper, because nobody else seems to have any money, im sat here typing this on a rather high spec pc, in my room, next to my xbox 360 and big flatsceen tv, with a load of camera equipment behind me, a feck load of designer/brand name clothes. theres 2 motorbikes in the garage, a decent car sat on the drive. dont really see how anythings going to change for me really, setantas still goin to show the boxing on a saturday night, bp's still going to sell diesel at a price i can afford.
  17. you see, theres a reason your not gettin any, and youve only ever got laid once, despite wanting too for ages.... its that youve got impeccably high standards.
  18. 1) audi a5 tdi - dont laugh, i absolutely love the a5's and the diesel ones are just superb. 2) mk1 escort, probably with a 2.0 zetec running ITB's to be precise. 3) 1969 dodge charger R/T 4) Ford RS200 5) double cab 130 defender 2.5 tdi, finished in ktm orange. fully off road/expedition prepped. can probably see, supercars dont interest me that much.
  19. dont say anything, (well obviously talk, but dont go "oh but i fancy you, i understand if you dont fancy me" like some little whino), man up a bit. go out to lunch or whatever you generally do these days, then leave it a couple of days, then just ask her if she wants to come round to watch a film or something, she doesnt need to read into that at all. if she does, and likes you, your in, is she reads into it that you fancy her, but she dont like you, then you havent lost anything, (and havent put her off by sounding like a loser trying to get into her pants), if she thinks your inviting her round just as mates, well technically youve still got a second date, which is double the amount you got with your 21 year old. oh yea, and dont tell her you want her to come to a party in your pants via text again, your not 12 no more.
  20. yea ive got both, as for which is better, its hard to say, PC's better as a all out first person shooter, but for casual gaming between friends, playing online and not being too serious, and for a console shooter, cod4 on xbox360 is the future. got it on both, since i got it on xbox like 3-4 weeks ago, i aint played it on the pc once. but if your thinking about buying a 360 do it, fable2 is out soon. which will be amazing. but as for xbox360, you can get so many cheap games that are good online and to play alone, rainbox six vegas2, skate, cod4, graw2,gears of war etc can all be had for like £15-20. and then you can pick up stuff like PGR3, amped and the like for like £4-£5 in game blockbuster etc, these days, and £4 is bugger all for the entertainment you get.
  21. just got live tonight, gunna be a cod4 freak for a few weeks i think,
  22. Chump...(actually i dont know what the ellipse was for, theres little else to be said on the matter). simple answer to your problem, get some horse tranquilizers, slow your own thought process down a bit, and level the playing field.
  23. yea they basically need UCAS points, but for some reason i cant find out whether the NVQ i got counts for jack, the only thing i could find about whether NVQ's count towards UCAS points is that aparently an NVQ level 3 counts for 2 A levels (but no where officially says that) and some stuff about it being aceptable for Business, accounting etc. magic, thats what i was after, NVQ's aint on there, but found out with my AS levels, my BTEC national diploma, and my key skills im up to 420/460 straight off(Dependant on whether i got DMM. or DDM in my BTEC) why yes, yes you are, your also cooler, skinnier, paler, and worse at COD4, but meh
  24. erm, 21 in a month, so will be, but im by no means mature (hell i made a joke about the next door neighbour trimming my mums bush for her yesterday). yea i think im gunna give a few places a ring in a couple of weeks once i know the score with work sticking me through a foundation degree.
