yea, Ive got enough containers to house all the colours(well access to enough containers) although purely on a space front, id most likely just have 2 or 3 containers housing the most popular colours(id start off with the 1 id neeed for my own bits, till anyone else wanted more in large sizes) and then just have little containers(big enough to do cranks, hubs, stems, bolts, levers, scope mounts, sidewheels etc) for other sizes. Given that the dye is water soluble, cleaning containers to avoid cross contamination, wouldnt be too much of an issue(given thre fact that im going to be outside with a hosepipe at several stages in the process anyway), refill the containers with water, use a brush/rag to wipe down all the sides of the container, pour out, and then hose out again. Ideally id not want to go up to frame size, purely on the size and cost of the acid id have to buy and store in the house, but the one thing thats going to be profitable on the motorbike side of things, is rims, which extend past the size of the container i was going to use for my own bits. which would just about fit in some plastic containers i could use for dying, that come with lids and are stackable. but obviously i realise the only major profitable line on the bike side of things, would be frames, which is why im interested to hear what people would be willing to pay/have payed. As ali said, at the factory, companies charge through the nose for anodizing, obviously if dh'ers(as by the cost of their sport, they typically have more money than trials riders, and are more likely to spend £70 on anodizing part of a £2000 frame that theyll ride for 3-4 years, than we are to spend £50 anodizing a £300 frame were going to keep for 6 months) and xc'ers are willing to spend 3 figure sums on gettin frames anodized, and £50+ on swingarms or front triangles, to get a custom bike, rather than a factory finish(which costs more, and isnt custom) then it could work out very profitable. but if im going to be left with 2 blokes wanting different colour trials frames, and requests for 5 or so lever blades at £4 a pop,

Hi, after wanting some bits anodizing for my motorbike, im semi tempted to do it myself. But if im getting all the stuff to do it myself, i may as well offer the service to others. So, if you dont mind: How many of you lot would be interested in getting bits anodized? What kind of things would you want anodizing? and What kind of prices would you be willing to pay? ( for example; for a brake lever? a set of cranks? a frame?) The reason im looking at setting up to do it myself is the fact that the items i want anodizing will easily fit into some suitable containers I already have in my garage, I already have a suitable constant power supply, and caustic soda, so am only in need of the sulphuric acid, the dye, and some wire for hanging. Which although working out at 3 times the price of sending it away to have it done, it would mean i could do a few other bits i want for myself. and once the inital cost is recouped, apart from buying additional colour dyes theres going to be very little outlay). But im just unsure on how much call there is for this kind of thing,or what kind of prices i should be charging if i decide to go for it, as in, once everythings bought, doing a frame would cost me litle more than my time, so should i charge say £10-15 to do it, or charge the cost of a professional spray job, as thats what your getting, someone putting a proper finish on your frame, or charge more than that? as its supposedly a more expensive finish, and is obviously more hard wearing(and from experience of quotes, anodizing places want a lot more than sprayers for doing parts). The issue with charging also confuses me, as obviously if i was having a large tank for frames(wasnt going to go that big for myself, and to do so would incur a considerable set up fee) , id also have a small one for doing levers, cranks, bolts, little bits for guns, etc but the time taken to do a lever, would not be awfully different for doing a frame(so say I was working on a labour rate of £20 per hour, as once set up is recouped, costs would be neglibie, id be charging through the nose for a lever that you could buy brand new yourself for less, yet doing a frame for £30) Basically the maths behind it is I want both my motorbike swing arms doing, for which the anodizer wants £40 a piece, for £100 I could purchase enough sulphuric acid to do them myself, and enough dye to them myself, I know a few other people whove payed that much to have it done, Id only need to find 1 person wanting a swing arm anodizing in the same colour, and id be in profit, and after that, as the colour i want is the most expensive dye, anyone wanting them in any colour, would equal more profit, wether id got the dye or not.

If your camera shy, I dont mind verifying this fact for the forum, halves on a travelodge(only on the £19 nights though) so itll only cost you £9.50 for the forum(and then the world) to have confirmed that you do look like megan fox waking up. Hell i'll even throw in a bottle of that fancy peanut gringo wine to calm your nerves. -

Snowboarding For The First Time. Advice Anyone?!
Fish-Finger-er replied to BONGO's topic in Chit Chat
after 3 seasons of using your regular translucent orange lensed goggles, (of varying quality) i finally took the jump into buying some iridium ones, I ended up getting these: goggles not only cos I thought they looked damn cool, but because they where cheap (theres auctions on ebay for them starting at like £13 or summit, within a few goes youll end up winning one with a starting bid) and Im thoroughly impressed with them, they didnt fog anywhere near as bad as my mates goggles (salice and trespass, both around £30) and where way clearer to see through, good make out shapes and snow undulations way better than normal, and where fine even in dull white outs. Id take your mx goggles with you with the clear lens, incase you end up doing night skiing, or torchlight decent etc(if its offered). But I wouldnt use them unless necessary (as skiing with them is better than skiing without goggles on a windy night, but mx goggles dont have the ventilation required for snow sports really. -

Can you please shut up about how good skiing/snowboarding is, You know this, I know this, by monday bongo will know this, but if you keep repeating it, im going to end up crying over the fact its looking less likely like im going to go again this season, even though I can afford it. however other good ski holiday beers include: the beers you drink on the first night anticipating the first day. that lunchtime beer when your sat in the sun. the beer you have when you knock yourself out by pole planting a tree stump at high speed and having the pole bounce back and hit you in the face, where you ski down at like 5mph for the rest of the run, go in, have a pint, get another chair up, stick some snow on ur fat lip, and then go and find an even steeper slope. and my personal favourite, the beer you have when you meet back up with your mate after stumbling back to the room at 8am, where you high five, smell each others fingers, and crack open a morning budweiser. Grrr... any idiots want to come back to canada with me? Last note bongo, suncream, if its sunny you will need it, i know i went proper late on last season, but after spending 3 hours one afternoon with the corners of my forehead exposed after removing my hat, i was red raw. and they charge mega bucks for it on the slope. -

nah, its my mates Gf's best mate. which is part of the reason I dont know if i want to ask her out for a date, in case I get cold feet towards commitment like I have today. Because If i mess her round, its gunna mean im not gunna be on best terms with her, my mates GF, and depending on how much influence she has over my mate, could make things awkward between us to. -

right, been texting a girl on and off for time, never took it any further due to her sleeping with a mate time ago, was thinking about making a move on her, then a week before crimbo i messed it up with her big time, never spoke to her since, got over it in like 34 seconds, went canada, had fun with a couple of birds out there, came home thinking, sh*t i need a bird. then went out friday night, met a mates gf's mate out, got on quite well, then when i went to the bar, some random slightly below average looking bird(bearing in mind im well below average) accosted me and basically wanted me to go back to hers, I declined politely(well as politely as I could to a chubby girl after id had a few pints) and went back to chatting with my mates gf's mate, who seemed to be quite into me. I left the club suddenly as a friend whod got the keys to the house I was stayin in was waiting outside for me. got home and basically spent the whole weekend telling meself I couldnt let her pass me by, I was gunna grow a pair and ask her out on a date/see if she wanted to keep an old fart company one night (i have major issues with doing this, I normally wait till she asks/we end up pulling in a public situation/randomly end up in bed together, that way I tend to know straight away shes interested). Got back home, didnt bother thinking"ahh ill see her again" but still with the idea of wanting a bird. Then I heard off the first girl I was texting before crimbo randomly yesterday, its almost like I never messed up. It then comes to the point of her being single and lonely, and spending valentines in bed watching desperate housewives. I make a couple of joke suggestions, it gets laughed about. But then it comes down to chatting about me, and its like "Im happy single but wouldnt mind something casual". despite the fact thats not what ive been saying to myself for the past 2 weeks. All this girl ever wanted was something casual, but then now, she doesnt. So basically all shes wanted for ages is somethin casual, up until a couple of weeks back when she wanted something a bit more. Ive come back off holiday wanting nothing but a GF, up until right till the point where I was on the home run to getting one, and then turn round and say I dont want it. And now part of mes not wanting to mess the girl I liked from friday round, as im totally not sure if I dont want a relationship(as even though I think I do, when it comes to crunch time, im not sure i can commit) , or if I just dont want one with the girl ive been texting. -

erm, i bought some new pants for this season, even though I had no need for them, got them from the animal shop in cheshire oaks, cost me £25 an there bangin. not exactly that far from you(and theres about 4 shops there that sell ski wear(oakley shop,tog24,and another outdoor shop), but may be worth checking your local animal shop. but yea TK maxx arent bad either. suggested cheshire oaks as its in driving distance, as ive had all my gear apart from goggles off there at seperate points in the last 5 years. (jacket £50, although theres some nice oakley ones for £75) other stuff, get several pairs of ski socks, dont be a dick and try to weat football socks or the like. buy a proper ski jacket, not a warm winter coat, cant dismiss the importance of snow skirts on base and sleeves, the fact that the zips all have tags on so you can do em up wearing gloves, the specialist pockets for lift pass etc. dont skimp on goggles(actually mine cost me £13 off ebay, so I did skimp, so in other words dont buy sh*t goggles) I got some rayzor iridium ones, which as i said cost me all of £13, they were night and day better than my mates salice goggles, my salice goggles, my other mates £35 trespass goggles, and some randomer who asked to look at them, as they looked cool, said they were way better than his $70 smith goggles to look through(all regular orange lens) last place worth checking is m and m sports, had some right bargains on jackets there last time i checked, didnt check for pants as Id already bought a pair more than i needed. -
goodbye charlie bright, twin town, the hurt locker, clubbed, harry brown, the departed, the business, football factory. Anyone seen the firm yet? and thought it was quite a big let down, there were some good bits, but ultimately it failed to fulfil the potential it had (clubbed was a much better 80's film, and the business even more so) and as it was nick love, I expected it to be fully mint.

pretty much, and both car and trailer must have a combined total gross of less than 3500kg, (or if more, the trailer can have a gross of 750kg). it has infact been discussed in the car thread at least twice, with info from the direct gov website to back it up, which i think prawn will be able to confirm, as it was him i discussed it with.

Isnt that a bit of a brave statement to be making, especially since I know this forum, and its admin, and plenty of its members arent on the best terms with people like Pete Wright, who is a self confessed hacker, and if rumours are to be believed, a rather good one at that. Arent you basically laying down the gauntlet for him to try it??
