  1. could you post a pic of your cranks? Specifically your right hand one, from both sides. Sharp eyed peeps on here could probably tell what freewheel (I suspect it's a freewheel BTW) it is and whether it's any good or not.
  2. Have a go at price matching that spainish site at tartys? Could save you a couple of quid if it qualifies? read for yourself http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/pages/price_match.html Or drop them a mail. EDIT: just read top line on my link... doubt it qualifies - forget I said anything.
  3. I did wonder... But on the other hand it could have been a miricle cure, see? internet sarcasm never really works anyways (unless it's as subtle as a slegehammer to the face)
  4. not heard of that before... got any idea why that works?? EDIT: how long have you been using this? and if a typical grind is sorta 1-2 months, how long does yours last?
  5. Just bought a giro section pisspot for 37 quid sent. RRP over £50 so i'm told. If it got any lighter it'd be wearing a beanie. I like, A lot.
  6. That's probably the best shout I can come up with in this case, but it happens with onther products too though, I just can't think of any right now. Damn brain, think I need a new one...
  7. Me, I was one of them 10-12 year olds who you see on £70ish halfords bikes just di**ing about up and off stair sets and trying to do endos and wheelies. And building ramps in the backstreet out of a recycling box & some ply wood about a foot long (if it made a take off that was more shallow than ~60deg it'd do, kinda thing) Then I move to senior school, got invovled with a run-on-a-shoestring MTB/XC school club which meant I started reading MBUK cos I wanted an expensive bike like the older lads (since I was on a different, but equally halfords bike) and saw an onza ad in that very first issue i bought. As luck would have it i'd just met this kid a year above me who could do even bigger wheelies and do more stupid stair drops (Matt i, if your reading this, you'll might a guessed this is you ) who I kept seeing around town. He anounced he was getting a monty from the LBS, so seeing as the 'rents have been mototrialers for yonks, dropped hints and saved till I got a grey T-bird about summer 06. We met our mate gaz a bit later on and go away and meet peeps we'd a never met if we had if weren't in to bikes. Odd that isn't it? Sorry for the paragraph but I'm sure a lot of people can relate to my story too. Ciaran
  8. How come the spanish shops mostly seem to get parts before we do?? Or is it because tarty's take more time (read: care) in ordering a batch of stuff? obviously I don't want (or expect) the tarty lads to divulge the entire business plan or owt like that, I just thought a cheeky little insight to behind the scenes would be quite nice. that was not written to be a dig or nowt; just in case it sounds it
  9. was wondering this myself. Have you tried one adam?? what do people who buy koxx 1049's think as they are standard equipment on them??
  10. From what I can understand you're riding a 24, yes?? Try a schwalbe DH tube. I just bought one for my fourplay at 45+ Psi with a Holy Roller. It goes up to 3in, is 260g and was £6.99 and the quality seems really good. Would suggest the one ones marked 10D at the bottom of this page in the rear http://schwalbe.com/gbl/en/produkte/schlaeuche/ and the ones marked 9 or 9a for the front, though I've not tried this one yet, i will soon.
  11. What about the booster from some Evo2 mounts??? just a guess but I'd say that'd be narrow enough. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/brake_clamps/magura_evo2_brake_adaptor_kit/c74p10934.html Try it, there only a tenner and if it don't fit I'm sure you could use them somewhere else, eh? EDIT: just found this a couple of topics up Them boosters are just nicer versions of evo2 boosters and a guy ^ reckons they have a 'eighty somthing mm' spacing, so try it out
  12. I had one of these!!! Yours is the only other one I have seen EVER. Tartys only sold a handful as far as i'm aware so you have a pretty rare example. (looks mint cond. too) Mine was a short, measuring 1065-1070ish with my try-all forks in and 18:15, so have a measure. I haven't got a pic of mine, just a short vid from the summer before last. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/videos/view-5451-ciaran-cargan-stock-vid-01/ The title's a bit naf now but it's seems funny to me at the time as I had just moved from mod, you see? BTW I'd a killed for mine to weigh mid 10kg, in reality it was low/mid 12's and a bit of a lump. so be happy EDIT: out of interest, do you have the same problem I had where the chain eats the SS just above the dropout??? I always wondered if it were just my frame but had no one just ask as no one else seemed to own one. I solved it by running the chain slack as hell and spacing the frame out, but this only temporary (sp) and eventually gave up on it and bought another frame and hub.
  13. Why is this?? insurance, rules or both?? Mine has brakes so I'm fine, just curious.
  14. 110mm x 35deg 15mm stackers on my zoot when I had it, did wonders for the feel on both streety and trials sides of my riding. got the same set up on my fourplay now and its soooooo good. All it took was one tap forward on the bars with my multi tool when I swapped frames over. this system ex one of tartys is the one I bought http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=609&keywords=System+Ex+31.8mm+Clamp Forged throughout, good bar clamp, but the steerer clamp is a touch soft so don't monster it and you'll be rite. EDIT: the standard green stem is 110mm x 20deg.
  15. Ah, I, er, didn't read the other articles :$ Have done now though. seems like they are maybe more deserving... I dunno...
  16. Thinking about doing this myself. could you do this with a mech and still use a 1/8 chain? provided the clearance betwwen the two sprockets was right? Am I right or wrong?
  17. my mate did this with a shimano hub using 2 black shoe laces. You could barely see it and it took some clocking on that it was a freehub at all. We put an old echo TR freewheel of mine on the front and away he went! it worked too... Another more permanant soloution is the take the spacer out of the back of the driver body (Axle out, Remove the big bolt, driver off, rebuild) and that locks it solid using the cone nuts.
  18. love the new bike including the graphics. Are you gonna release some of the parts seperately (Sp?) Specifically the frame, forks,(or both as a frame kit? that'd be good), them tensile bars and stem either in genesis colours or a non-discript black or white like the old ones, same for the forks for that matter (make 'em about £75-£90 if that's possible, i'd buy a set in black or white and i'm sure others would too) and also that nice looking front hub, unless thats one you already sell, obviously. don't make it a plain colour, there's far too much of that around and I'm glad you are trying to make your product stand out from the crowd.
  19. can I ask what rims are on the skye? I know there atomlab but what model??? Anyone know? oh, and is that a tapered steerer I spy in that photo. it would make sense for the whole mainstream MTB 'feel' inspired have got now a days. EDIT: it could just be a 1.5in headtube
  20. I've ridden a couple of blades and like them (in fact i want one). yes they flex like hell at both the BB under power and at the brake but consider this... A blade frame can be bought for £160 BNIB with 6 months warranty. crack it within 6 months and you get another. but the blade is half the lites price so you could buy another blade 4 £160 and by repeating the process it means you'd have 4 frames for the price of effectively 2 echo lites and you would have to be a better rider to crack/snap a lite because it's a better quality frame. It's all hyperthetical and I doubt anyone would want 4 of the same frames one after the other but it's a thought isn't it???
  21. pro2 evo? or the old one for a decent saving? what about Freewheel? or this is a long shot but there was a guy on here the other day wanting to know if these were any good. http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=342 there's a SS version too... http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=283 Untested as far as I know but at £60 it's probably cheaper than whatever is broke in your king. practically disposable, got a few good reviews on the site from the MTB lot and gets you back out cheaply & quickly. If you do try it, report back and tell all, i'm interesed to see how good it would be... EDIT: there is a 2 year warranty too. I doubt it'll cover trials though...
  22. hello

Couldn't help notice you are from workington and was wondering if there was owt to ride or any people to ride with??

Seeing as i'm only in barrow, might get sommet organised eh?

  23. yeah thats normal... When I got that with my old trialtech (the one before they went to cartridge bearings) it lasted for another 6 months before it exploded in my BB shell so watch for that, but it'll be rite otherwise.
