  1. Never seen you ride like this before, in eightipsi vids you seem a bit 'subdued' (possably cos of the company you keep, I think I'd try and keep quiet and get on with things too). in this though you real style suprised me a bit, and the result was pretty damn good. Re-watch I think!
  2. hmm... I'll be honest that you or your vids have passed me by, but cos of that vid (and i'm on lunch break), i'm gonna go look through the back catalog. I need to get them 360 nose drop off things (0.40 secs) learned ASAP. Deffo will watch your next vid when you post it. EDIT: just watched your spring time vids on youtube, it looks like you've progressed a hell of a lot over the summer, at that rate you are going to be rather good by the time spring comes again. I look forward to watching your progress.
  3. this is a pugsly right? is you think thats a fatbike then check out the surly moonlander... 26 x 4.7" Surly Big Fat Larry tyres and 100mm wide square cutout rims like huge try-all/rockman rims. it's worthy of a google... BTW your vid's mint. EDIT: Or for peoples in a lazy monday mood http://surlybikes.com/bikes/moonlander i've done it for you. sorry for jacking the thead but it's worth a look, seriously.
  4. Think this guy is in a different league right now...
  5. thanks for your help mate. the bike is an 04 bighit, the one with the 24in back wheel. Found out it needs a 7.825 by 2.25 so gonna aim for 185 to 190mm eye to eye to be safe. I could buy the one you linked and re-use the spring i have for time being couldn't I? or does it not work like that? So you can get an idea of what I want, this is like what the bike looked like when my mate bought it (random pic from google) and my mates has that exact shock if that helps, add boxxer teams and thats almost the look the bike currently has. and this is kinda my vision for it, again random piccy, except I don't want a chode of a shock like above.
  6. I'm buying a bigger shock for the bike because according to some info I found online, the shock has been changed from the manitou swinger 3 it was specced with, to shorter travel shock and forks by a previous owner. Thanks to my mate it now has a pair of boxxer team forks from ~03/04, the same year as the bike, and I want to finish what he started by complementing the forks with more rear travel, kind of a restore and update kinda thing. my problem is finding a suitable shock at my budget (after reconsideration I could stretch to like two hundred i suppose) so if you or anyone reading this knows of mabye a less well known but quality brand or a obscure LBS with a good deal then post it up because i am compretly stumped.
  7. So I might be buying a bike from a mate but it has an ancient shock in it. research tells me it's a fox vanilla from like 2000 so it needs upgrading. thinking along the lines of 180mm or bigger eye to eye but no more than 200mm E2E but have no more than 150ish to spend. also needs to be BNIB and it needs to be from a uk shop that does phone sales. HELP!! thank you. ciaran
  8. I had a cheapy tube do exactly as you describe on friday as the bike was chilling in the sun. It was a bonded valve where the valve is attached with a circle of rubber at the base of the valve glued to the main tube, cheaply. My best guess is that direct sunlight, black moto digger, shiny black combat rim and 45 odd pounds made it incredibly hot and stressed in there and the glue melted, leaving me to carry and push home for aproxx. 3 mile
  9. I know this topic is a bit dead now (off the bottom of the 2nd page before I post) but I just wanted to register my supprot and interest. This would make my third cuerden and it's sounding sweet!! ha ha. hoping there will be substansal street to warrant bringing the inspired otherwise it might be a bit of damp squib, but if I take the stock I wanna ride the street constantly. Decisions....
  10. I'd happily give you a go on my fourplay anytime, all you had to do was ask... EDIT: Just FFS don't get a BMX!!!
  11. yes please. a filthy 48 style thing would be mint. hope some good comes from bad... Edit: Or failing that how about a semi organised group ride somewhere accessible. BIG morecambe ride mabye??
  12. Edited cos adam snaked me...
  13. I'm up for this joe. I did post before but my post seems to have been deleted when the forum was re-done. I'll print the disclaimer now!
  14. and that was just my lot hahaha... mine was the frame. BTW niall, that's how you measure how good your trip away was... By how buggered you bike is when you put it back in the shed LOL
  15. mabye another time mate, bit stuck for funds this week. That phase snapped as well you know, and the bars on the inspired decided to let go this week outta the blue and snap Ciaran
  16. What;s WI? all I know is my mate's cranks stripped adn he had to scrounge another set cheap...
  17. That's not nothing!!! thats what strips your cranks because the thread expands from 1.37in internal Diameter to 1.375in when it cracks through, overtightens as you kick and takes the crank threads with it. I'm sure it used to say stuff like that the freewheel pages on tarty's. Even if my reasoning is wrong, I really wouldn't bother taking the risk. HERE WE GO http://www.rocknrollbikes.com/trials/cranks/tensile-comp-cnc-7075-trials-cranks.html#Size=170mm bottom of the page. Or from tarty's Additional information http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/cranks_pair/trialtech_sport_forged/c514p10467.html
  18. boo more pills less vodka! EDIT: Matty; who else is involved (Gaz and Rob?) U up for Holton and make a day of it?
  19. orrrhhh... Just my luck with lockrings isn't so hot so I'd love to see a different system. What about replacing the lockring all together with somthing like an R clip (A big 'un). That could then be faced so it was flush to the end of the crank. EDIT: The guy who said to put cartridge bearings like an eno in the freewheel also makes a good point...
  20. I did not think of that. Any chance of a proper six sided nut or something like as a lockring, instead of that silly two-hole, do it up with a pin spanner afair.
  21. If Im correct in assuming you've done what my my mate connor has done to 2 different SL's, simply put it pocket side down in the vice, gripping the outer so the teeth are touching the top of the vice jaws, mince the vice 'til you feel harsh on it, and you should be able to 'backpedal' your body away from the lockring, which in turn can be gripped, and backpedalled away. THIS IS IMPORTANT: check that your crank threads have not been damaged like connor's were, his stripped the very next ride, and he was only backwheeling a 3 set of stairs (badly, with rough technique). Now imagine that on a drop gap... I'm not saying your cranks will definatly strip or be damaged, just check. EDIT: If I am incorrect, then forget I said owt.
  22. Sod it, just decided i'm coming. Anyone fancy hitting holton for an hour of two first? Seeing as I'll be near and I wanna go ride there I thought it'd be worth asking, otherwise I ride there on my own first before the scooter fags (Read little bast**ds) get outta bed and clog the place up. Matty, U mind PM'ing tom and morecambe peeps on faceache? If he's got a bike working I'm sure he'd be up for it. EDIT: BTW matty, how's ur wrist?? rideable??
  23. I didn't make myself clear enough. I meant the one that would hold the freewheel/adapter (hint, hint) onto the crank arm.
  24. thanks for clearing that up mark, I'll fess that i mis-read the photo's. In that case hows about a circlip or similar device to stop the centre lockring coming loose? And the option of a HD bashring? EDIT: oo and a spline to screw on adapter similar to a zoot crank set up? EDIT 2: Lots of ofset can't be a bad thing either...
  25. All of this, especially the bit about the lockring, I had a tensile 96 that was fine till a sidehop preload with a unintentionally (sp) loose (self lossened) and subsequently stripped lockring made it sh1t it's guts all the the floor
