  1. Did you try a clean wire brush? As my mate was forever doing the sand pads n regrind thing till until only recently discovering a steel brush like this jobby has 99% the same effect. Try it. If it don't work you'd be regrinding ur rim anyhow.
  2. I will get on it tommorow, or er, later as it's after midnight - whoops Time to go bedwards i think.
  3. Oh. mabye I should reread topics occasionally... Meanwhiles im gonna leave this thread alone till i've something more useful to contribute I think. EDIT: taken that last bit out cos it didn't read the way i meant it to
  4. Silverstone was the event that paralized him, according to mark's timeline that would make a third time... Ross- id have to check. Got any idea what year that would be? Then I can look what the earliest one i've got is. Ciaran.
  5. That's exacly the kind of shit i'm on about... Then It'll be any/everyone else's fault but the stupid parents when the kid gets ran into by someone coming off a big air or 360-fakie or similar - ie. they have no control cos air brakes dont exist. Ditto. I've nicknamed this one 'pest control'. Faiing that just manual at em and play chicken - works a right treat!
  6. The one about the mum using the park as an exercise yard rings true with me. It annoys me immensely at times because the local skatepark is in a large park (green space ect. not concrete n ramps) and yet it is suppose to be our responsibility to avoid the kid(s), and the inevitability of wiping them out. All because they have been let run riot in a highly dangerous environment by their 'responsible' adult. This has caused more ambulance visits and stand up arguments than anything else. In these cases I'm of the opinion it is not the 5yr olds faults but the townie chav social workers wet dream that spawned it. In actual fact it pisses me off no end. I really hope our new indoor (http://www.urbanextre.me/) isn't like this.
  7. So in that case the lake jump might have been the 2nd time. I swear I'm not making that up but now you've made me doubt myself. I didn't know about the 1st one int skatepark. And yeah, the people with spine injury that ive met, and unfortunately in racing it happens too often, take the attitude of being in a wheelchair is not the end of the world, where as not breathing any longer is. And then your family then have to suffer with that - but thats a different conversation entirely.
  8. Short for In my experience mark, like IMO. I was being lazy but it's clearly backfired. I'm typing this after all
  9. Isn't hope's aftersales renowned for being class?? They seem to do stuff for people that most companies wouldn't even think of. Just dont expect it, like its a god given right, be reasonable and IMEx, like all in life, they'll be sound back and do what they can. U are after all trying to get something for nothing where out of T&Cs warranty claims are concerned. That's my attitude anyway
  10. I havent seen one of these yet that i dont own haha. If you have 20odd then i've got like three years worth. Still to this day got a2 size MBUK poster of ashton riding on the this cliff edge somewhere in gemany, a mint sauce a2 poster and an akrigg A4 of him on the giants causeway, probs from that feature scanned ^^. Its what I wake up to on the way outta me room in a mornin'. I think i've the issue from the MBUK 'lets build a FO ramp next to a lake' feature, where Martyn broke his back the first time learning backflips. I'd speculate, using what I know about motorcycle road racers with spine injuries (part of the TT marshals course), that this previous trauma may be (part of) the reason he now can't feel his feet...
  11. I personally like my sport (for want of a better phrase) punk rock, as in a semi-underground ethos, a can do attitude and humbleness of it's participants (be that the rider on the street or the brands and the 'pros' that represent companies). Rapid growth would just encourage the integrity sapping cashing-in already talked about, large money ruins good things, happens time after time. Especially where the next big 'lifestyle craze' (eww, I feel dirty just typing that) is concerned. To me that phrase evokes thoughts of people coming in, getting filthy rich quick, sucking the blood out of whatever the sport/product/business etc. and then f***ing off that-a-way. The millions of scooters that plague any skatepark riding would be the best eg that springs to mind. Ive asked some of the older ones, the 13-18 crowd, how much they spend on what was 5years ago still an outdated childs toy, and some of the top kids spend 5-600 pound on stuff that most 1st year college engineering students could manufacture - i know that cos that's where i went when i left school - and it was completely beyond me where the money goes. Then I found from an old friend who runs his own online skate shop that there is a 170% mark up on every scooter that left his door, and because he wasn't being completely greedy, he was still able to beat every last one of his rivals by up to 35%! You are right that the growth of trials should be encouraged, or IMO it could shrivel and die, but in equal measure it should be controlled, weeding out the brands, the products and the schisters that are no good. Well, thats my bit, hope it makes sense to all that can be arsed reading it. EDIT: oh and apparently Danny Mac did a piece on the BBC commonwealth games coverage this morning, on a shipyard crane or something. Ont telly twice in a week - not bad eh?
  12. You could broaden your search by looking for pro collapse. It has drilled pins but it is still a collapse...
  13. yeah i had the wheel tight, but ones that snapped were just tooo tight. But by the time came to change them out I'd changed all the too tight ones and they just kept snapping. just old i guess, old history now anyway. these new ones are a big amount of win. EDIT: if you make a mint selling these, I get a cut of the profit!
  14. Interesting point. Hadn't considered that. But I kept the wheel build in better than good order, so it should have made a difference? The brand is Vocalbmx. Went google digging because the halos I bought from TB/you starting snapping alarming regularly. Like every two weeks. then every week, then it got worse, then I gave up and went shopping. I'd seriously check them out Adam. Link
  15. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/179920-chain-enquiry-kmc-510610hx-motorcycle-chains/page-3 Ref: 4th post down (post #44, mine post) and post #50 (Mark W's post) Owned 4 of them consecutively back when. All the lot I ride with have had multiple collapses too.
  16. This is gonna be really hard to explain but i'll have go, Beforehand if I rode down the road and kicked the back end out, (by lifting the back wheel 2 inch and swinging me hips) say like you would to stop/slow down when riding double rim brake or brakeless; (similar to harsh hit off a 180ish spin ) the rim would flex and hit the pad, making that noise like when the tpa is turned up too much and you find that annoying mini buckle that is tiny, but stops the wheel, particularly annoying when trying to be smooth on 180-fakies etc. However with DB, it does not happen anymore. If I went out now and did this little test, the rim is rock solid. the hub and rim are the same, using the same brake and position on the slaves, as I didn't move the brake to take the wheel out and haven't moved it since. So in my mind, either I built the wheel better this time round, or the spokes are the difference, yes? But I didn't/ don't come on here for an argument,(I've probably dredged this up as it is, came in here 'cos someone quoted me) and if you believe, or have found, different to me then I will listen but this i what i believe, and will be changing out the front set as soon as I can.
  17. I know that fella, but it wasn't really usable, not deep enough. Inspired rim has nearly double the depth brake surface. much better for brake set-up.
  18. Was gonna suggest a combat like my front one to be honest. can't be knocked for £25. 32h or 36h and 610g but disc only though which is a pain. Had to swap my back one out when I wanted rim brake again.
  19. Pimplites are known for being stiff certainly. But a bit narrow at like 28mm or something? or is that not as bad as I think it would be? Inspired teams are 35mm wide for reference. same as my pro, just the teams are drilled and CNC'd more.
  20. From your avatar you have this bike right? In which case you do have the pro rim that i linked/own and your flex is down to the PG disease i had before I swapped them out. and I haven't found a better rear tyre than a holy. As for the front i am running a schwalbe table top for some lard saving at 600ish gram (holy is like 780g according to tarts) The grip is a bit sketchy til it wears in but after that its as good as the holy ont back. Something about schwalbe tyres, Ar mate's big betty was like that too. I'm just gonna sand my next one and rough off what ever is on the top of the rubber that's greasy as ice. EDIT: found the ridden and rated thread I did before buying the table top if your interested: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/178133-schwalbe-table-top-tyre/ Run mine at around the 40-45PSI range with a 150ish gram tube and I got to say it's done all I have asked of it, even my awful attempts of wallrides. Could be a contender?
  21. Fair enough. I realised this after my post yesterday.
  22. Yeah, its not thick enough... realised that when i bought the fourplay, thats over 3x as thick! Mine was a materials fail though. A little pinhole like imperfection in the centre of the billet caused it to crack and splinter like a spider web from the middle outwards without me knowing, till the bottom third had enough a snapped. Thats what tarty adam told me when he gave me a impromptu lesson on why sh1t snaps. Think I'd have another zoot though, mabye that new pro framekit...
  23. how does mine rate? The zoot with a piece of faulty billet (13/10/11). And the fourplay frame that replaced it on warranty (only got the build 'right' about February and now it needs updating cos of the demon rust) (Taken a couple of weekends ago)
  24. So they've depreciated like a bag of led feathers then? Also if m810's are as good as people raving about them say, why is there a good second hand market? These people must have reasons for selling up so peeps can buy them? Sorry but my precursor to shi*mano products means i'm still not convinced. I'd have to have half an hour using one first. EDIT: In fact I already have. they were 710's and IMO nothing special. I thought 4 pots on MTB's (It was on a then friends bling commencial meta 5.5) were supposed to rip up the ground behind it?
