Quoted from the OTN Topic... Not a pad adjuster screw

Cheers Rich, for hacking into Prawns account and hosting it for me!

Thanks all for the comments I know the location is a bit of a pain, and something more central would be easier for all, but I will look into making it as easy as possible for people to at least make the journey once with discount rooms or something. This is just a pipedream at the moment, but Im hoping with enough research, it might just be possible to do. All levels would be catered for. Theres no point limiting the appeal to a certain type of people, so things from white route up to yellow, with ramps and all sorts, so everyone who comes would have something to enjoy.

Im sure I can stretch the budget and get a kettle for you

Would be along the lines of 9am till 8pm on weekdays for example, and 9am till 10 on weekends or something. This is on the assumption that I would be there every day to open/close ect. Yes would be a pay for the day, and that covers you all day, no matter how many times you leave. Unfortunately PaRtZ it would be on the South coast (Poole/bournemouth/Christchurch) as I would have to be there every day to run it, and Im not travelling 4 hours a day Im sure the location will put people off, but if we can get enough interest, I might be able to source some special rates at local travel inns ect for people to stay a weekend or something.

I know there are lots of these type of topics floating around at the moment, but this is a bit different so if you could give it 5 mins of your time, that would be greatly appreciated. It seems pretty obvious that councils say all these things, but never really put any effort or bother into putting them into practice, which is why I am looking for just some general comments and suggestions. Recently I have been shown around some commercial buildings, gathering some ideas about the potential of renting one to supply riders with an indoor park. Now this is a costly venture, and I dont want to go for it and loose out completely because people aren't bothered about using it. The Units I have been looking at, are around 300-500sq/m, high roof and made from liners/compo panels, most of wich come with ample parking, and a shutter front door. A unit like this will be costing between £8,000-£15000 per annum. Location wise, Im aiming at within easey riding distance of train stations/bus stops in secure industrial estates. Obviously there would have to be an entry fee. To cover the cost of the unit alone, at £8000 per annum, with an entry fee of £5 for example, I would need a minimum of 1600 people to attend within that year. That would be like frequent forum users attending at least twice a year. An entry fee of £7 would need a minimum of 1143 people a year. On top of that, we need insurance, and staff to run the building throughout the day. This could add up to more like users attending at least 4 times per year. Now some of this money can be sourced from government grants, lottery grants, advertising, catering facilities, sponsorship, regular competitions ect. Now the questions Im asking are: Would you use it? If you did use it, would you come more than once? Would you be happy with an entry fee of £5? Would you attend competitons there? I need to put all these things into consideration, before I can make the leap in renting one and building something, but I need to be 100% sure that it can work before I start. Thanks

Ahh yes should have looked at your location first really! Opps I think the main question you have to ask yourself is... Do you NEED an HD camera?? If you are looking at something light and compact, Im guessing you wont be using it for anything professional like weddings/short films ect. If its just for doing little trials videos and stuff, my suggestion would be to leave it for a while. HD is still very much in the early days, and not a lot of people have the technology to take advantage of it fully. Once things catch up a bit, where every house has immense download speed, and all users have HD monitors, then it may be more worth while, but by that time, the camera you have chosen will be out of date or an eighth of the price. I use a Canon XM2, which is a fairly large-ish camera, using 3CCDs. Its ideal quality for exporting full res, and comes out crystal clear. It also has the added advantage of being completely manual, so I can adjust every variable to get the picture and sound perfect. It fitted within my budget just about, and it suits me down to the ground in what I want to use it for. I think its worth reading into a little more, and thinking hard before you fork out that much cash, and make sure you can justify it. You could get an excellent compact DVCAM with various extras that could be spot on for your needs, for a fraction of the price of an HD cam, and have enough change to buy yourself some beers afterwards. If you need any ideas on the kind of cams you could be looking at, add me to MSN (andy_nbr@hotmail.com) as I have tried out a fair few cams on my trip to CVP when I was looking.

If you are considering an HD camera, my recomendation is to go to a shop called Creative Video Productions http://www.creativevideo.co.uk. Its a big step you are taking, and a lot of money involved. CVP will book you in a private session, one to one with an expert, who will select a range of cameras, all within certain price ranges, or features. You then have ALL DAY to play around with all of them, to make sure you get the exact one you need. Theres no point rushing to a conclusion, only to find a month down the line, that something else came a bit better equipped or something. I would say, be careful for the ones you consider. The little Sony cams may be HD and seem like a great idea, but I have my doubts about them over a better equipped standard DVCAM. If you are going to the extremes with getting an HD cam, theres no point in getting something little and pathetic. They lack the proper punch that a Z1E will produce for example, and you could very well be better off with a DVCAM or similar

How Many Hours Driving Did You Do Before You Passed Your Test?
that NBR dude replied to Punkrider's topic in Chit Chat
I think the experience on a bike helped me loads in my car test. I have been on bikes since I was about 10 doing motoX, and then on the road on my 16th birthday and passed my full bike test on my 18th birthday. Bikes make you far more aware of the road. Its a case of if you crash, you're going to die/be hurt extremely badly, so you pay far more attention to the road, than you ever would in a car. -

Just want to point out - Be very very careful about the programs you download... I never used to think anything of it, but I've had a written warning about it, so I dont even download music illegally anymore. They can trace you, and theres nothing to say they wont. Watch your back

Right, Ive never had a monty one, so I cant comment on that one... Ive had a tensile, that I ran for about 2 weeks. Ok, so it was second hand, but it seemed to work fine at first, so I left it alone. It gradually started skipping, the after about 2 weeks, the whole thing just blew up and snapped 4 springs and destroyed 2 pawls. The Try-all one I had, was brand new, and would not stop skipping. I tried servicing it ect, and it would skip every time any pressure was applied. Also my mate has just killed one recently as well. Why has no one mentioned the ENO? Ive had about 4 (all on different bikes Ive sold) and I have never had a single problem with one. Its the one I would go for a million times over. It feels much more solid and better made than the others. There just that sence of quality about it, so thats the one I trust Edit - Before someone mentions price, you can get ENOs for around £50 from a shop on Ebay

Does your brother have Sky?? Sky offer free/cheap broadband for all their cusotmers, all you need is a BT line. So you can pay the line rental, cancel your BT Broadband, and have sky broadband for £5 a month. Thats what we have just done.
-
AS far as I know, ALL Broadband providers require a BT Line, unless you gor for cable packages may be wrong though

The Mk1 Ford Escort and the Lancia Stratos are the nicest there!!

Ticy will remember this one: Riding in poole, and his guy in his Supra was sat in traffic. The other cars moved about a foot, so he redlines it, and tries to wheelspin away to move an inch forward. Tic yells out "HAHA WHAT A D**K" and then all of a sudden he gets out and starts running towards us shouting. After he decided that there were about 6 of us, and he was more concerned with his £100 airstyle, he gets back in his car, redlines it again, and does a wheelspin, reversing back down the one way road the wrong way, onto the busyest roundabout ever nearly hitting like 5 cars, and tries to wheelspin agin, failing completely. Was totally random

I used to run twin disks back in about 2001, and always swore back then, they were more powerful than maguras, not that anyone listened. The one issue I found back then, was when they dont work, theres not a great deal you can do about it. Its not like adding tar or grinding. Ive just recently gone back to twin disks, as I thought I would see how these mono Trials fair in the world of rear disks, and they still suprise me even now. They hold on things I dont expect them to, and they feel great. They take some getting used to, as you find yourself pulling the levers harder than you need to, as you dont expect them to lock, but they do! And to anyone who says "oh they are easy to bend" I think thats rubbish. I sidehop left, and on the bikes ive had with disks, I have never bent a rotor from hitting it. It really is so difficult to actually land full force on one! If you have the option to give a rear disk a go, I would say go for it. I think you will be plesantly suprised at how well they really work.

Yes Steve has a lot on his plate at the moment, so just be patient.

Never been a fan of monty bars. I just dont get on with the feel of them. Too much rise and not enough width for my likings. I prefer a lower front end set-up, feels nicer for my style of riding
-
Aparently I get bored of bikes quickly, so when the opportunity to get his monty came up, the XTP had to go!! Its basically a standard Monty 221ti DD, but with Zoo bars, and an ENO freewheel.
