I've added a vid of the noise in my first post, if anyone is interested
-
Damn I thought as much. Theres no way this noise is the engagements. I can hear the normal click and then the noise, of what sounds like every single bearing shattering into a million pieces. I can film it if anyone is interested in the noise
-
Maybe, depends on how much I'm gonna trust this freewheel of Lukes. I think its screwed, making gash grinding noises
-
Ok, appologies for the really n00b question, and I did have q uick search to no avail. I've no idea about these freewheels so excuse m ignorance here, but I've just put on a 2nd hand try-all 108.9 freewheel. All engages nicely, seems pretty solid. The issue I have is as it spins, it makes the most god awful chrunching and grinding noise. It doesnt "seem" to affect the performance, but its not exactly confidence inspiring and its just a disgusting noise. Is it the same prionciple as an eno, and just whip the lockring off and give a look inside / clean it out ect? Like I say I've no experience with these freewheels so I don't know what I'm doing. thanks for your help Andy heres a wee video with the awesome noise Trials-Forum Video -> Full View • Download • Upload

Yea have the LCD set up with colour bars. That was one of the first things I did. Always wondered what the Zebra lines did though. Set them on now so I can see how over exposed I am. Cheers Jonny

Its a difficult one isn't it. I cant respect the company for the blatent copying of a design, but I can appreciate what they are doing, and providing the design for a wider group of people. In the same way, I respect Monty for what they've done for the sport and the innovation in design, but I can't understand how they can justify the excessive prices, especially as another company has proved they can still make money by selling it at 9x less.
-
So is this why you never sold me your flash gun, Mark? Do you not like me either?? where is the love?
-
They're still at the Kamel shop. I don't know whether I should put them on or not. Then I'm just trying to make it something its not, whereas at the moment, people just "assume" its a Kamel
-
It will do when I set it up properly. It works no worse than the appauling magura I had on it before
-
Oh no, dont worry. I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say I am a hypocrite, as I was part of the slagging match about this very frame. I have absolutely no respect for the company as a whole, and if circumstances were different I wouldn't have one, and I would have bought a Kamel. Problem I found is I wanted to go rear disc, and there are very few disc frames I actually like. I wanted a Kamel, but I dont see the point in paying 9x as much, for what is essentially the same frame. Theres minor differences in geometry, and by minor I mean literally mm's difference. The plan originally was to spray it up and put the Monty Kamel stickers on it, but I figured I'd get more bad press from doing that, than jus admitting its a blatent copy.

Ok so yea.... another new bike. I wont try and count how may I've had, I've not got enough fingers and toes. Anywho, enjoy my Monty Kamel-alike.... For those that haven't guessed, its not really a Kamel, I'm not that rich. Its a Bionic B 4 and its really nice. Specced up with mostly Monty ti parts, no idea on weight yet, but I'll give you a figure later on. Just needs grips on it now. Andy

Its a very good technique to use though. It allows you to write/type out your frustration or annoyance to someone with as many profanities as you wish, and get it out of your system, but without the need to escalate the situation.

Now thats a reply!! Theres a whole host of colour settings on the camera, and I've been messing around with these to add some clarity to the shots. Im slowly getting there, its just finding that fine line before it starts to get oversaturated. The camera has more features than I've ever seen before, so theres a real learning curve in using it, not just like a point and record, so I'm having to spend a lot of time experimenting to get it right. I've never tried adding graduation filters on the PC, although I used to use some square filters a few years back, but it became hasstle carrying round lots of them plus the matte box and filter cartridge was huge. Definitely something worth trying in the future. They can add some nice effects to shots. As for camera angles ect, I'm still developing my style when it comes to shooting. I used to be very adventurous when it came to dynamic shots, but I got a lot of bad press for it. I've tried recently to dial it down slightly, but maybe too much. I'm still trying to find a wide angle converter to fit the camera (not a ghastly fisheye) but converters for an 82mm thread are rare, plus I want to find one of decent quality, so it doesnt effect the L series lens. Once I can find one that fits, I can play around more with angles again. I'd also like to try and work on some moving shots as well. All in all I've not had the camera long, so I'm still adapting to it, to make the most of what its capable of.

As people have said its nice to donate to the smaller organisations who cant depend on corporate advertising to help them raise money. I now donate monthly to Macmillan, as they helped me get through my cancer treatment, and were really great. Its a nice way of saying thank you and repaying them for the work they did to help me.

The reason Rich is saying "dont bother trying to contest decisions" is because he and the other mods, get hundreds of emails, PMs and people adding them to msn, asking why X person has been banned or warned and can they validate Y person. They don't get paid for what they do, so why should they sit there while someone harasses them into removing a warn or a ban? I agree that the attitudes of some people here need to change, and trying to hide behind the internet and create a hard boy image is just sad. I'm the same on here as I am in real life, yet I dont see that of other people. There are people on here who I've not been a fan of, yet if they add me to msn or I meet them in real life, I get to see who they really are, and it changes my impression, and I'm now good friends with them, dispite not liking their attitudes on here. I know I say this quite a lot, but if everyone stepped back from their PC, and looked at how they were coming across, would you like the way you are? What a lot of people need to do, is if they get frustrated, type out the responce they normally would, then press the back button. It helps vent your frustration with someone, without actually saying it and causing arguments.

I'll be there, wont enter though. Entered the last one without a licence, don't want to push my luck.
-
Cheers Ben, Im still messing about with the colour profiles as some shots seem to be a bit undersaturated. The more I play about, the better its gets, just wish it wasnt so damn complicated haha.

Thanks for all the comments guys and gals. I've switched to Adobe Premier CS3 as opposed to Sony Vegas, so the HD edits are improving gradually (Vegas sucks for HD editing) Glad you all enjoyed the vid anyway. I forgot how much I enjoyed filming/editing so this was a nice one for me to sit and do. Expect more soon, bigger and better as always!!

... oh and a special thanks to the UKs most awesome policeman, who let Ross do that drop gap

Richy Rich, that was just as impressive always. You need to stop getting so good, and let other people catch up.

That was really cool. Nice flow and style. Definitely would be cool to see him vs Danny Mac.
