  1. Is it just me, or is there a few different kinds of try-all rims around? When I compared mine to James Barton's Try-all (white) rim, his sidewalls were much taller than mine (kinda looked like a dob rim?) and the part in the center that protrudes out, didn't stick out as far on his rim? His also held a grind much better than mine! WTF!

Hey man, take it easy! Keep the temper at bay! If you don't get it, don't worry! I had a wall that I struggled with a few days ago, I did it twice, then after that, I couldn't seem to get up it for the life of me. I just tried it and tried it, I didn't succeed, but you know what, it gives you better technique, experience, and more exercise. But tonight I upped something that was 6" higher than that one! LOL You have good days, and you have bad days. I find eating a lot before riding helps too. There are a lot of little things...like foot positioning, shoes, and even socks, that can throw you off! Just keep at it man, try to find where your weaknesses are, and fix it. And remember, if you can't get it, don't get pissed! You'll get it another day.
  3. OH god, I hate how mods ride. I try my buddy's echo team every once in a while, and I only get hurt and angry after riding it. 26" F T W.
  4. You could get: Lighter cranks Cut a wall out of your front and rear rims, making them both single walled, As well as using packing tape instead of anything else Mag pedals foam grips What tires are you running? Should be able to save a lot of weight with those. And tubes too if you're using oversized ones.
  5. There's two ways, full stroke, and half stroke. With full stroke, you start with your good foot foward, then your bad foot lifts the front wheel, and then good foot again for power. Half stroke, you start with your bad foot high, and end with good foot. You have to do the front whee lifting and power up at the same time. I've found that full stroke pedal ups have a lot more power. I started doing half strokes, then I got stuck around 30". Now I've learned full stroke properly, and I'm doing around 39".
  6. James is amazing... When he rides, it's not just TGS, he tries to go big, but he'll try the same line in several ways, and then practice dabbing that line in different ways. His determination is unmatched! What happened to giaco? is it just me, or is he not doing well/not competing lately?
  7. Just ride it, and replace things as they break...different parts wont really make you a better rider.
  8. I too had an urban...the flex drove me crazy, mine for whatever reason flexed insanely more than my two friend's Urban forks...so I bought META forks. They're basically the same as koxx forks, but A LOT cheaper. Feels stiff, looks strong IMO.
  9. F*ck yes dude! haha, I just watched it again. I gotta learn to tap...
  10. Nice man! I'm sure James would be proud
  11. I had CRM's on a grind, worked great, but as the pad wore down past 50%, the brake just WOULDN'T hold! Tried everything, but nothing seemed to work...koxx browns and rock blues are the way to go...
  12. Chris king has 72, hope 48. Both work excellently...you might have been confused with either the Industry 9 hubs, or the knock off chinese brand "KING" hubs, which have 120 engagement points.
  13. If you want something that compares in weight to the dob you had, you might want to try a try-all rim, and cut the second wall out...lol
  14. JAMES GOT 2ND IN 26"!!!! WOOT!
  15. Yeah, I know...but still...he's primarily a 26" rider...it's basically all he's ridden for years...it's not like some riders that switch between the two frequently...
  16. I would love to see you try to crack a koxx frame. You've probably never owned a monty or koxx...I'd LOVE to have a hydroxx...James' rides so nicely. That being said, why do people care so much about frames being so strong? I think it matters more HOW the bike rides (geo and weight) than strength. I'm not a very hard rider, but I'm on my 3rd frame now, and I haven't cracked a trials frame yet. I'd assume most people replace their frames before they snap anyway...
  17. I find it so amazing that James, a 26" rider, can just go to Europe, buy a mod, compete in the junior uci mod category for the first time, and place 3rd. He probably didn't even get a chance to get used to the bike!
  18. JAMES BARTON IS A TRIALS GOD!!!! I'm so glad to see him in the top ranks!!!!!!!!! OMFG!!! rode with James 3 weeks ago! Don't know where he got the mod from though?
  19. LOL "more to rear" "f**k you" hahahaha HOW THE HECK DID HE BUNNYHOP THAT META?!?!?
