Quoted from www.bikebiz.co.uk. I think its important that everyone signs this. "Russell Merry of Hot Wheels, the BMX and women's bikes distributor, has created a Gov.uk petition asking for the PM – that'll be Gordon, then – to shelve the 14 per cent import duty on bicycles Merry's petition says: "Almost all bicycles sold in the UK are manufactured in the Far East. UK manufacturing on any large scale ended some time ago. Bicycles are subject to an import duty of 14% which, when compared to consumer electronics rates of near zero, is bonkers. "We have childhood obesity issues, congestion, global warming and an aging population that needs exercise - the bicycle has a role to play in the resolution of all these issues. "It seems crazy that the tax regime encourages a kid to sit in front of a bicycle extreme sports computer game rather than go out and ride his bike. My petition is to raise awareness of this anomaly and to encourage politicians at the highest level to start the necessary trade talks to abolish duty on a product that improves the health of the nation, helps lower emissions and is an all round benefit to society."" The petition is HERE

I used to get bad cramp from riding a full weekend of trials. To the point of getting home, sitting at the pc, then the cramp would set in launch my leg up into the desk with me shouting SHHHHHH***T. Hurt bad. Its normal though, if its happening for a week everyday, have a word with your doctor.

Theres a few bits and bobs to ride in cardiff, their building new posh shiny buildings right now so there should be some more to ride. If you like natural hope on the train to cardiff, then to merthyr tydfill. Make sure your in a group it ain't the best of places. Then try and find morlais quarry, some really good natural there.

Ahh kool. Have to organise a ride some weekend soon. Weather and work permiting. Whats there to ride in newport, neve really explored it. (sorry for hi-jacking the thread matt) -------- Theres tom from tenby (tomturd). Not sure where he's living atm though.
-
Yeah, daves still riding. Gavin and john from porthcawl still ride, I think sparky and ivor ride now and then too.
-
I think theres a few scattered about in west wales. No scene as such though. Me and a few mates might camp for a weekend around the tenby area sometime this summer. Around cardiff there may be around 10 riders now. None of them really group up though.

Do they even come with eyelets!!!!!????? I would have thought that you were running the spokes a wee bit tight in places, tyre preasure may not have helped.

--> QUOTE(joe b @ Jun 13 2007, 10:03 PM) ←Yeah, don't buy a T-Pro, again ... Post count 1 Intelligence 0 Anyway. Cones shouldn't come loose, well maybe once but not twice. If you do happen to send it back to them ask them to put some loctite on the threads (not much). If it goes again after that I would demand a new wheel, or a bike, or a refund. It could be that the threads are not right on the axel but I'd give it one more go with loctite first. With regards to owners manuals, this is something a manufacture will create to help you and to cover their backs. you won't need to check your BB every ride if its done to the correct torque. Trading standards would consider sending it back for a 3rd time acceptable standard of customer service. Anymore and it is not really. Give them another chance, ask them to do a full PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) on the bike with a form attached saying when this was compleated and by who. This way when that bike left their shop it is fit for purpose, if you do your daily/weekly................. servicing then everything should be fine and dandy. If another part goes wrong again then ask them for a replacement part/bike/exchange/refund.

Trials Punk replied to Trials Punk's topic in Member Organised Rides
I may give the grumpy one a ring. This thread just proves how dead trials is round cardiff. Wank. -

If that guy in the film Three Kings could down all that oil, I'm sure your little swig of petrol will be fine.

He would have to go to a magistrates court first. Try and sort out who is too blame, then if there is a claim to be made for the damage either cough up or go to the small claims court. Some people are honest. Some people would prefer to be able to ride past somewhere/someone without having to be chased down the street. Fair enough if your wern't local, in his case he is so I see a good point in giving details.

Its usually the bottom half of the chain which tends to fall off the most as theres not much tension applied to it. I'd go with just the bottom half for now and see how you get on. You could always try and go down the route of running two slim bashguards to wedge the chainring in between. Or just buy a chainring with this already done, where I'm not sure.

There was a new piece of legislation passed not so long ago that motorists have to pay out for any collision with a cycleist no matter who's fault it is. Although the fact you were riding along the pavement would counter that as at the time you were breaking the law. Like most have said, the best thing to do is to pay up. Or, push your luck and pay half which I'm sure they would accept. Going to court is a long winding process, which can lead to much embarassment and quite heafty payments which would be quite a bit higher than what she would like for the damage. I know theres a certain amount of pride to be lost by paying up, as you have already said no but you'll loose more than your pride in the court room.

I used to get this all the time. Rather than change anything on my bike I started chainging the way I rode which helped alot. If your hitting your legs on the underside of your bars you could try stem stackers or a higher rise bar?

At the end of the day these are budget bikes, made by someone who wants to sell them to the masses. Bearing in mind these bikes arn't exactly top end, whilst equally no tbeing crap. These are aimed at people first starting trials up, even the £650 one. Not many people who already have a trials bike are going to move on to a full build saracen. So when you imagine joe average, with mummy and daddy looking for a trials bike for chirstmas they don't know everything about bikes. They know the simple details, and will only ask simple questions. They know what gears are, and the steritypical question is "How many gears has it got?". Hence the reason for the grears being there, of course they do serve other purposes other than a selling point to joe average. Now people will say, why couldn't they spec a higher spec hub, cranks, cassete, chain. At the end of the day yes you could put a better spec hub on there, but to be honest everyone seems to have problems with hubs until you start using hope/chris king hubs.

We have a lack of ginger people in wales, whenever I see a ginger person its as if I have seen an angel. Keep it that way. How else can people dish out abuse?
