  1. I see that for the Echo, you've mentioned it is stiff but the weight could be improved upon. Then for the GU you've said its lightweight, but too flexy. You want a stiffer frame, you add material in critical areas, which increases weight. Some people actually prefer a "softer" frame. You can't have it all.
  2. That sounds good to me, limber myslef up a bit and take some snaps. I reckon I will get lost, big contrast compared to my little valley. I'll just get there early or something. Thanks for the help.
  3. Trying to work out how to get there by train, looks like (as far as I can tell) you can't catch a train from paddington to waterloo with a bike. Is that right? How long does it take to get from paddington to waterloo? I'm getting very effin confused here.
  4. Lmao. My mate was running 165 middleburns up until two years ago, he noticed the difference going to 175.
  5. If you take your time preparing it, you will end up with a good finish. Your right, DIY paint jobs may not be the best but I know that to get a frame shot blasted and sprayed is going to cost £50+ whilst DIY is cheaper. Make sure you prep the frame properlly before hand, take your time inbetween coats, spray in the warm. Have a go, if you mess it up you can then always get someone else to do it, chances are you can do it right yourself though.
  6. Be better if he could fix it himself first though, otherwise you'll never learn.
  7. I'm not 100% on this, but I think it will be the same internally. Chris King Site Check out chris kings site ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ All the tech info is there for you, if you get stuck sling them an e-mail. Edit: One other idea, make sure the hub is preloaded correctly. I think it should be in one of the videos on the chris king site.
  8. First thing I did to my leeson was dent the chainstay, its just the way it is.
  9. Was it brand new when you bought it? Did you bed it in? If the answers no to any of the above, you MUST strip, inspect and clean the internals. To just clean it and replace the lube with something thinner is quite simple. I find it alot easier than servicing a Hope as there are no nasty springs waiting to jump out and roll under something. LQGUIDE1.WMV That vid will help, although he is re-assembling the hub you can see how it works. Just give it a good clean inside, if you clean it out with rags do it. Try not to use paper as it will get stuck in there, you could use air but I wouldn't advise it as it may push dirt into areas harder. Hope this helps.
  10. Why don't you buy another one? With that distinctive "tink" noise every time you hit the bashguard......................
  11. Also, cheap chain tools are not the way to go. Tolerances on them are pants, invest in a proper chain tool and you will see the difference.
  12. Although, if your a real man like Cai, you'll stick it straight in dry........
  13. If you've got enough to play with, take that link out and try a different one. Spray a little lube on it aswell to help ease it in. If that dosn't work, try and stop the one link bending out until you can line the pin up proper.
  14. Not too sure, could be. I'll ask him when I see him. Another old frame, maybe a univega. Being used to smash a VCR to cinders. Edit: Before anyone says, no its not a crack den.
  15. I can't seem to find my post...... Nevermind. Partz, if I remember right. I made a topic about warrenty issues with the Zebdi (No quibble warrenty, you break it you get new!!) I had to pay £100 for a new frame. Anyway, people in similar situations started repeating what I had said (the frames tended to crack very easy round the BB area). Brant threw a wobbly, and pulled it from the UK saying that it was out fault and our loss. Dear dear. Although I am getting another zebdi soon, they do ride nice. Anyway, back on track. Saracen X-torts anyone?
  16. Two years has passed since that topic mun, we've all got a bit older since then. Maybe we've remembered more, more likely forgot. Newcomers to this forum wouldn't find that anyway, and the need to know a bit on the history of trials don't they? Thats not me having a go either, just pointing out. EDIT: Crap, I wrote that without even contributing properly to the topic. **** Remember when someone helped cause the demise of the sale of the Planet-X Zebdi in the UK.................
  17. *Crys* My first real trials frame, 2003 I think. I want it back, so much, I'm building another soon. Just won't have that El Gato My mates old T-Pro 2002 i think My mates old Raleigh something or other, forgot the name. We called it the steel pig. Thinking of all the bikes back then, I creamed over the Pace the most.
  18. Well, you did it of your own free will didn't you? I'm not sure anyone on here has stated that "cannabis doesnt affect you". Merely tried to dumb down peoples views on it.
  19. I doubt the gorvnment are hoping for that, I also doubt legalising it will have any impact at what age they will start, only education can do that really. Personally I don't think anyone should be smoking or drinking before 16, not in excess anyway. Theres so much more to do before you start getting wasted.
  20. Cannabis is usually fine in moderation. If you start taking it when your too young, it may have a negative effect on you. Much the same as alcohol.
  21. The problem is, that people are fed dribble their whole lives. They see it on TV, they hear it down the pub. If you manage to have an interlectual conversation with one of these people, and strip all the facts and figures down, expose the truth, tell them your experiances they don't have an answer. As its not usually their opinion, just an opinion thats been drilled into their heads so much they belive it true. Although they will happliy drink 7 pints friday and saturday night and not bat an eyelid. Anyway, back on track. Extasy shouldn't be in the same leage as Heroin, no way. At the end of the day, we don't know the long term effects. Compared to the long term effects of alcohol on regular drinkers, I can't imagine it being much worse.
  22. Class B. Why the hell not, it makes sense to me. Although I wouldn't be bothered taking it. I've already used and abused the most dangerous, widely used, most consumed drug ever. Alcohol. Lets take the drugs related deaths chart, and add alcohol in there. Cocaine 243 Ecstasy 58 Heroin 876 Amphetamines 97 Cannabis 12 Alcohol 8,724 As you can see by that, alcohol is most certanly acceptable. Dam, is that 8,724 people less for the government to screw over on taxes. Of course, those figures does not take into account how many people in the UK use each drug. Obviously alcohol is going to have a high number of deaths accounted to it as there are alot of people in the UK that drink, and also quite a few people who smoke Cannabis too. For example is as many people did Heroin as they did Alcohol you could imagine the death figure on that, it would be huge. Point I'm trying to put over here, without looking at usage figures is how alcohol is (by a huge margin) a bigger killer than any other drug (in that chart). I used to be very scheptic on drugs, but lately I've opened my mind slightly and found the reason that I hated the idea of drugs so much was because its always been pumped into my head that they are bad. Whilst alcohol and tobbaco is fine in moderation. Now I know that alot of drugs are fine in moderation, not that I'm going to go on a huge sampling mission or anything. Not going to write any more than that really, as I think Ben has more or less said it for me.
  23. The strength is there, then again so is the weight. I've just lost a shed load of confidence, but I'm gonna try get my arse there. Might ride somewhere the day before to "warm up" ahem.
  24. Ergh, I'm contemplating going. I'm hardly riding lately, so I'll be an utter drip. Never rode london before, so if I can get my arse into gear i'll make it down there.
