Could always try re-facing the headtube and making sure the headset is pressed in proper. Could be that.

24tour :: 21st - 30th August 2009
Trials Punk replied to Luke Rainbird's topic in Member Organised Rides
I'll try and get to Bristol for wednesday, havn't rode there in a while. Hopefully I'll get the day off work..................... -
I have heard that if you ride the smaller seats, you have horrid shits.
-
Loved every efffing minute of that!
-
Looking promising. So the Echo is going to lean more towards street, adamant is going towards TGS by the looks of things. Still, both of their BB's are to effin high for me and the steerer tube anlges are a bit slack for me too. Still, they would look alright if they sorted the bar/stem and seat out.

Chris King Are They Really Worth That Much?
Trials Punk replied to LordMersey's topic in Trials Chat
I've used kings for the past 5 years now, would never go back. Its like anything expensive, you could compare it to cars really. Imagine you own a Ferrari, if that engine isn't looked after and serviced when needed, it will die and cost a bomb. Compared to your average family car, you can thrash the guts out of it and it asks for more. Kings are awsome when their kept well, you let that slip and they'll burn money in your pockets. Make sure you bed them in properly, service them reguarly they'll serve you well. The front kings, arn't worth it though. As long as the front hub is light, and relivtavly strong it dosen't matter about the brand. Anybody, who says they have broken a king have either not bedded them in properlly, not serviced them enough or have stamped the absouloute guts out of them. Unless its a very rare occasion where a king has not be machined to the precise tolerances they are usually made to. Also, warrenty issues, you only ride XC don't you?................................................. -
With revolver and sstein on corrections. Headangle: As said, not alot to do with the length of forks. A 70 deg head angle would provide more stable steering at higher speeds, also more control for taps. A steeper head angle such as a 75 deg, would be less stable at speed but more responsive for slow speeds, such as spins and front wheel manouvers such as switzerland squeakers, pivots etc. BB: A lower BB, as on a jump bike will make the bike more stable to balance in the air and on land, it also lowers your point of gravity for more responsive turning at speed, also by lowering your centre of gravity manuals can sometimes feel nicer. A higher BB, as on most modern trials frames makes it slightly harder to balance, but alot nicer on the rear wheel. Chainstays: Longer chainstays, more common on jump bikes aid control when going up lips, will be harder to get to the balance point of a manual but once there it will be more controlled and easier to keep. Shorter chainstays are better for back wheel control, bunny hops and manuals come up easier although are then harder to control. I think the trials bikes of days gone by, pashley, giant team trials had more, what we would consider now jump bike geo. Not saying they had bike jump geo, but that they leant towards dirt more than trials bike geos do now. I hardly ever post on here, not sure why I was inspired to write all that................meh. (no guarantee its right).

Thank god, I thought I was going to get slated by all then, bit like watching a flatlander in the park. He's good anyway, just like more variation. Maybe a bit of Van Homan flair thrown into the mix for suprise and head injurys.....
-
I think I'm the only one who got board at about 1:30, still watched it to the end. Sorry. Respect to him, he's got a large amount of tech talent there, and I'm sure theres more to his riding than just that video but it just got a bit, samey (yes I know he has endless variations on tricks).
-
Ignore him, he's mildly retarded.
-
He just seems to lift off to much before coming into it. Meh. That last vid, floor was a bit damp. That westfield was giving it a bit, even with the damp.

Do slugs have lungs though? -
Epic car fair play. But in the first vid, the second longish corner. He pussied out quite a bit! I could never justify spending that much money on a car, fuel, tyres and entry to pussy out on a corner like that. Seems like a case of all the gear, no idea to me.....

If your looking at either of the X-Rateds, the X.05 or the X.05* their both pants for trials. Their too heavy, the geo is all wrong for trials (and anything else) and some of the parts have the same consitancey of butter. The first thing your likely to kill on it are the bars, its just not worth it. Your much better off saving up around £300-£500 and getting your self something decent. You could even try buying something second hand off ebay or even on here.
-
Correct. He could have just put a buy it now price on there in the first place. Anyway, what I origanly posted about is a load of balls now. Wouldn't mind if this was closed.........
-
Yeah, I seen that too. £150 buy it now "but its actaully just the deposit". Not that i'm looking to by a zoo pitbull or anything...........
-
faaak, i must have been sleeping when they were around Sorry. Now I feel like a tard.........
-
Its worth looking into it really. Its fair enough to say that those forks should last a year, if just used for competion. Just looked on tartys site, can't seen anything about the warrenty being only 3 months. Thats a compleatly different set of forks, they arn't even rigid. Its the steerer tube thats snapped and not the fork itself!!!
-
Ebay Link Take a look at that, crap description. Couldn't even get the make right. Not quite right.
-
That 3 month warrenty thing dosn't sound right. I'm sure everything has to have a year warranty. Obviously if their comp forks and you've smashed hell out of them its your own fault. odd. You sure you didn't want to start a new topic for that

I'm guessing being made by G-Sport they are more targeted to the BMX scene? If thats the case, I can't see the point in reducing "rotational weight" as that helps to maintain momentum. I've always found heavy tyres, rims and tubes help keep my momentum once I've got up to speed. Never had any problem with ali nipples anyway, just make sure I don't ham fist them and all is well.

£80 a week does seem a bit harsh. I was on £180 a week for my first year, now I'm in my second year and I'm on £230. People may laugh at getting paid only £80 a week, but just think of all the people who PAY for the privilidge to go to a university. If you end up only on £80 a week, its a means to an end. The end result is qualifications which will get you somewhere. Aslong as you get a BTEC and a HNC out of an apprentiship you'll be fine. To be honest, anything that pays at the moments good considering whats going on.

About 3 years ago I managed 9 foot, which was sort of static. Had two good hops in there before the final kick. Now I can make just over 7 foot static. Load of wank.

Yo, its Kyle on the black bike. Nice to see you on here.
