Ryan Pekala popped down from Gloucester to ride with me yesterday... he very patiently is trying to improve my riding ability!!... and we travelled 15 minutes down the road from my house to Cheddar gorge for a play. A few pictures... more to be found HERE. ... just threw one of me in there as well to try and make you think i can ride!!! And yes he did wear his helmet for the rest of the day after i told him off P.S. His Koxx Boxx may be for sale soon if anyone is interested ... he is after a Rockman Kortz now!
-
yep... thats it Rob. The block of kerb stones i fecked my back up on for the first time!!! I was looking for my name but i think it may have been 1999 i did two Essex Trials... was even worse than i am now so not sure if the results went down that low
-
blimey... i remember that!! Even has my site in the links page Even better... just noticed the picture of the Sunn is actually my bike taken standing on the kerbstones that now form the edge of the road i live on now!!! It was a building site at the time http://www.vids.biketrials.com/page5af.htm

Got you looking didn't it!! I took a few photos of RobMitch riding with me last night and realised when i got home that i had a group of pictures almost from the same spot of him playing on the pallets... a crude stitch together in photoshop resulted in this. Will take more time and think about the shots more next time as i like the effect. ... and to prove i do still actually ride... me .. and yes i know i didn't have a helmet on, my bad! It was a bit embarrassing, at 43 years old, going back to the missus with blood pouring out of a knee and saying i fell off my bicycle
-
I really like the Z3 frame... just has a nice look about it. Nice little vid.
-
Not been past it for a few weeks but they have dumped loads of rocks and various other lumps by the side of the lock gates at cumberland basin, may be worth a look if you are driving from the south side of town for your ride.

What is strange for me is that when i go out on my Beta i am more than happy to try something a bit sketchy but on the cycle i have issues where i think about "what happens if it goes tits up". But the main thing is to enjoy yourself at whatever level you are happy with, no need to go trying huge gaps or drop-offs if you don't fancy them. And it is true that as you get older you don't always bounce as well as you used too... things hurt for longer. I guess the other thing that makes me think about injury more is having the mortgage and other bills to pay that require me to go to work full time (some would argue that i don't work full time!! ), up until i was about 22 and had been living at home or traveling Australia etc i didn't need to worry too much about all that!!

That shouldn't be the case... the pressure is equal in the system so they should both move at the same time. Although having said that i am now running a monty splitter!! My previuous set-up had a lazy, notchy piston. I took the pistons off and using a pair of pliers i pulled the piston out and then released. They should snap back into place but one side was very notchy and sometimes wouldn't return at all. Try that to see if you have the same problem... best way to cure it is use a new piston assembly. Water bleeds don't help as water and alloy don't mix well when moving parts are involved... water being more abrasive than oil. I have seen what a water bleed has done to pistons and lever assemblies and because of my motorcycle background you wouldn't catch me using a water bleed!! But each to their own...

just seen this from p1sti... nice sections to ride in the wet, polished metal barrels and wood!!! http://www.vimeo.com/5511174

bollox... think that sums up what i think of the above statement!!! Maybe seeing how much better Alexz Wigg is now riding on the Beta will convince you.... and Dabil on the GasGas. Whatever anyone says i still maintain that trials should be the easy sport... and that doesn't include all that valve gear and extra resources required to produce it, and then the extra oil needed to run them and the fact it would be hard to repair in a wood unlike a 2 stroke which you can basically completely strip in a very short time. ... have a look at the British Championship trials, how many 4 strokes do you see riding this year. The ones in the worlds are only there because Honda decided to stop all 2 stroke production and Sherco are still trying to flog the left over 4t's. Scorpa have now gone tits up and unless contracted too i doubt Cabestany will be on a 4t next year. And remember Honda do not have to make money from selling trials bikes... it is worth millions to the company to have world champions for promotional reasons, they can throw as much money and technology at the bike as they want too and it is nothing like the bike you can buy in the shops.

I have been doing motorcycle trials since i was 5 and only took up the biketrial side when i moved from east sussex over to the west country and couldn't afford a new moto in 1996.. and as you said it was still just small xc bike frames. I was well impressed when i got a sunn proper trials frame, broke it and then got a team issue one from the rep for freebie I have recently gone the wrong side of 14 stone so am trying to get out during the week a few times on my Echo and do the motorcycle events at the weekend, may shift a few pounds.. especially if i stop drinking a bottle of wine a night!

No... don't like the silver rear end. perhaps fade into grey or something but the silver looks naff and cheap. ... and just noticed, to illustrate the point nicely, they have used my photos i took at the wessex trial of the above three riders on their single colour bikes http://www.tribalzine.com/spip.php?article1181&lang=fr
-
Whilst i think it is a lovely frame, with nice welds and what looks like a good paint finish i have to agree with many here and say i think the silver rear end makes it look cheap... Your gold frame was much nicer and Ben's black frame and Jack's white frame looked very good. Ditch the split colours, or at least use colours and not a cheap looking bare rear triangle and it would be spot on.

errrm, he wouldn't want to be on a future montesa believe me!!! The one he rides is very, very light now, and so it should be for the money and titanium thrown at it!!
-
Call that old... bloody kids!! I am 44 this year and my riding mates are Kev, 44.. Tony, 42... Greame, 45 and now Steve Saunders (ex multiple British moto trials champ) who is also now over 40. We should obviously all know better...!! Hopefully some of us will be riding a HBTC event later in the summer.
-
Starts with a bit of floyd, and then Hendrix... brilliant Nice little vid mate.
-
... you mean my forks... the echo's i had on my bike at the wessex trial? ..if so i have put my hi-fi's back on. stiffer and the steerer had been cut short so i could run with no stackers.
-
He is old enough to make his own decisions.. but i wore mine if that makes it better

I went for a ride with Ryan Pekala today... to see if he could teach me anything!! Great to ride with someone who is smooth and likes to do sections rather than just one move stuff, and just watching him play really makes me want to ride more. He offered great advice and I was getting up and across a few things that have defeated me in the past ... anyway, some of him riding in the park and down the beach today. full gallery on photobucket HERE

Although a large part of the Trial Mag biketrial stuff is from France there is a good reason for it... the support from the UK trade has been crap!! Jack Meek has co-operated with a some large articles but John at the mag relies on interest and input from either the trade or the riders... if you put together a good story or have a good idea for the biketrial side then contact him and see if you can get it sorted. Getting any support from the uk biketrial trade seems to be almost a no starter... or at least bloody hard work.
