Never had a problem with a hope, only need to bleed them every few years really. They are pricey because of the amount of time spent machining them from quality materials. Bleeding takes all of 5 mins, just like bleeding a car brake. Ahwell, each to their own I guess

Go to a hydraulic suppliers and ask for some hosing with the same internal diameter as the magura hose (can't remember size) Can get alsorts of hosing, just make sure its not thin as you will end up slitting it. Braided hosing with kevlar reinforcement is good, but not cheap
