Even a steel hammer with some decent hard wood over the steerer will impart more shock than a rubber mallet. Might be worth a try. If still no luck, forgo the wood and twat it direct.

Either walk past ( I wouldn't step on it, I'm not a twat) or pick it up and post it, depending on how much of a rush I was in. More likely to pick it up and post it on a rural road than in a city, and more likely to pick it up if it was in my village / I had some kind of connection with the place it was addressed to.

Couldn't run a DK/RK due to clearance so tried a Try-All stiky. It was ok, but never had much confidence in it. Put on a 2.35 ST DP Maxxis highroller and its a much better tyre. Still half as good as a DK/RK but there we are.

They;re 2 part calipers if its a silver one - They have security torx keys to bolt them together iirc, try tightening/regreasing those bolts?

Fair one, might be a case of the sand covering up some of the rocks? Was it the rocks on the right hand side as you look at the sea, more towards the estuary next to a slipway and a 90 degree bend in the road with the pub on the corner? Or the other end down by the dead end and roundabout, past the lifeboat station?

Which bit of exmouth natural do you mean? I've not really found much worth riding natural wise in Exmouth. Any google map co ords/maps?
