I used to run a modified SRAM gripshift after i got fed up of twatting my thigh on my 1994 XT rapidfire shifter. I guess that problem wouldn't arise these days now bikes arn't so short. Either way it worked fine hooked up to a shitty Sora mech and modified 6 sp close ratio cassette.

Is this within the trials community or in general? Because you might have trouble finding someone who has had sex within the trials community.

Is it an ENO? They have slightly different to 'normal' threads and thats been blamed for when this has happened to me before. Its also happened with an Echo SL though, so who knows.

I don't really understand the arguing in this thread but for what its worth my Purple Sky has about 6 tiny cracks in the headtube area, and has lasted just over a year which is twice as long as my previous Echo. I have hooked and tapped it alot, and reckon I can do so for the next 4-5 months without it falling apart by the looks and size of the cracks.

Another thing to consider is it's probably better value to buy those foam prawns than, say, a gobstopper due to the weight involved.

Theres a guy on here called Mockett (i think?) who rides/used to ride round that way. Search for him on the members search. Alternatively go to the rides section and look for Portland rides.

I stole 4 from the local sainsburys and took them home in a wheelbarrow with a mate. Its better to ask someone though. Annoyingly, the blue ones owned by Chep are property of Chep and stealing them is stealing from Chep. However, they tend to be the strongest (thought try to avoid the ones with plastic outer 'rungs', they are slippery). Local shops, industrial estates, tile warehouses etc have lots of 'normal' wooden ones, so best to ask or if you are a badass like me I guess you could borrow them indefinately.

Well if you want to do it yourself you might as well spend the next few years learning to weld alu. Rob Leech on here did a similar thing, he should be able to answer your questions

Well for someone to make you a one off, completely custom alu frame I wouldn't be suprised if they wanted near the £700 mark. Just sayin'.
