Ah ok cool - What sort of engineering are you most interested in, hypermobility man?
-
What sort of engineering? I'm a geotechnical engineer but, much like most of the 'engineers' out there, what I do isn't engineering in its traditional sense, so prefer "engineering geologist". Oh, and in an interview theres a fine balance between seeming like you know it all (they know you don't, so don't bother trying) and not coming across like someone who has no idea. A willingness to learn and an interest in the subject are the most important things I'd say.

Nothing gets past this genius ladies and gentlemen! Imma say Ali.

Depends what you like doing but things like renting a big cottage down in Cornwall / Fly to Jersey/Guernsey and do some group activities like all learning to surf or go karting or hire a boat and get drunk on that or cliff diving might be good? One of my mates rented a yacht with about 15 of them on it and sailed from portsmouth to the isle of wight and back, getting drunk en route and going out in portsmouth / IOW at night. If you just go out on the piss you risk the 'so what did you do on your stag do? f**k all, got pissed'. Which to some is great but he might want something a bit different?

West Of England Bike Trial 18Th August (Dartmoor)
N.Wood replied to Dobbie's topic in Member Organised Rides
From what i remember, there are loads of trees there. The car park (if in the same field this year) is pretty close to the sections. Tell him to take an umbrella and waterproof, and he should be fine -
£10, no t shirt or CS protector or anything, just, like you say a little logo / highlighted username. EDIT: Not sure if this is making things more complicated for you, but you could add a 'silver supporter' for £5 for those that can't afford a tenner but want to pay something. You could probably do away with the paypal address then?

Out of the ~10 rims i've owned in my trials lifetime, only about 3 have failed through over grinding. The sidewalls get thin and dent easily. These lastest about a year and a half though. The rest cracked / went out of true too badly and had to be replaced. This is nothing to do with grinds.

I'm about to throw my iphone 4 against a wall, for some reason I can't fathom why it won't back its shit up to icloud so I can plug in my new 4s and get on with life. The 4s says its synced to icloud, but theres nothing on there. the 4 says its backed up its shit to icloud, so it should be there. Frustrating as hell, yes I'm probably being a retard and not ticking a box somewhere, but why isn't there a simple way of doing it, with a tab on itunes that does it all for you. pieces of shit.

Just heard from the mechanic, apparently they are only bringing in the automatic failure around April, so it passed. Sweeeeet.

Nice profile pic by the way.

Anyone have any experience with VW/Skoda side air bag crash sensors? My mk 1 octavia has failed its MOT due to aitbag light being on, and this sensor is at fault. Unfortunately there are no new ones in the UK according to my mechanic, they are on back order. There is, however, a couple of used ones on ebay. Are they hard to fit? Where is the sensor located in an octavia? Cheers.

The only difference it'll make is psychological I'd say.

Depends where the pivot point is i guess.

They still strip if you put enough pressure through it... Putting a plastic component in that application is pretty redic. My metal one has been going strong for probably 4 years now.

Would be good to see a side by side pic of purple haze and colli vs blue velvet and colli vs just colli with the above pic for reference... And see if theres any difference.

Belgium / Kortrijk... Any Riders There?
N.Wood replied to Dominik Kořený's topic in Member Organised Rides
Kenny has held a few comps there. I've ridden the main square, there is a bit to do there though its better in the evenings as you'll probably get moved on otherwise. The comps were man made and held in the exhibition centre. Chimpanzee on here is probs your best contact. -
Surely the soft wax will come off once you buff the next layer? I found Dodo juice stuff pretty shit... Didn't last at all. Collinite over the top is a good idea, but I can't see how you won't just strip the previous layer when you put on another wax

Mark do you know when the first Try-all carbons with the good, subtle, black graphics came out? I got mine pretty much the week they came out and have run them ever since.

I found it annoying for some stuff but fine for others. 80% of the time you don't think about it. But I found trying to go to a narrow / small point (i.e a pillar or top of a sharp rock) it made me unwary because the back end feels slightly 'loose'. Try it for yourself, you may get away with it

Same here... God knows how long I've had my bars

My rear disk (200mm mono trials) on stock was real good for natural, held on rounded rocks better than a magura. It was too heavy and too much spoke flex though. Also didn't like square edges much, would slip more than a magura here.

Could well be the dropout crack... My Yaabaa suddenly started creaking, spent ages looking and changed out a bottom bracket in a gravel car park to find it didn't solve anything. Ended up removing the chainstay protector and found the chainstay wasn't attached to the dropout any longer.

I got a 2:2, sent out ~10 emails to various companies. Got one reply, and it was asking for an interview. Drove 200 miles for an hour interview, got the job. Moved to the other end of the country. Been working here for 3 years. 90% of that success was down to luck, a bit through hard work and a bit of willing to move to the other end of the country for a job.

My old tryall Hole rims and my current rockman have all been great, so yeah Rockman.

I don't think you can turn it into a great freewheel, because they're not. Might be worth trying to clean it out with WD40 / GT85 as it could be the grease has seeped outta the bearings and is sticking the pawls down. Not sure you can take them apart - Arn't they welded? Can't remember off the top of my head. Worth a try anyways.
