A couple thoughts I had: I'd probably class my dad as your target audience - a mid 50's man who works in the City and sometimes commutes, does the london to brighton and Thames Bridges rides etc. He lives in Bromley and although we used to go into Bromley Bikes for bits now and again, 90% of the stuff he buys is from Evans in Fenchurch St as its literally opposite his office and he goes in a lunch or whatever. Very rarely buys online and will pay £££ to have it right there right now. i guess you'd have to peel him away from Evans and make him want to go to your store at the weekend. JD, I agree a FB thing like that would definately be worth doing, but if (as i understand it) my dad is a target audience, he doesn't have an fb account, and 99% of his coworkers don't either.

Depends on your gear ratio and CS length. Can work out good, can be a nightmare.

Your drop off looked fine. Yeah possibly check your tyres for glass or protruding spokes etc. But that up to wall was almost 100% what causes them.
-
Word, looked liek you smashed the backwheel into the wall pretty good on the way up.

So many rustled jimmies over this f**kin bar angle thing I agree, for every day riding it would be shite. But for a comp where you just want a pogo stick its perfect 80% of the time.

PSI doesn;t really have anything to do with it. Same tech as an up to rear from the position: Crouch down Release brakes if they're on Lift up with arms and legs Twist 90 Done

If you get complacent you're more likely to hurt yourself. If you know theres danger you'll check your bike over, look for potential non-ankle breaking landing spots etc. But if you don't wanna do it don't do it I guess.

First thing I thought of was Andy T, I guess because of modest mouse but also the creative and different filming and editing. Riding was great too, I think the lines in here were fun to do rather than ones that just looked good on film?

Yeah thats what I use as the Terrex Solo's I got are a tad too small, and couldn;t get a colour I liked in my size. I like them, less stiff than the solo's but stiffer than my freerunners.
-
No worries. Anyways, where did your fivetens split? I have used the Freerunners for a few years now, and recently got the canvas BMX shoes from CRC as they look 48594857 times better than anything else they do, and seem great.

I have a pair of as-new black Terrex Solos for sale in 9.5UK. Can't get black in the UK, much nicer looking than the other colours. PM me.

Doesn't really matter, some comps you can change route after riding like 3 sections. All comps you should be able to change once you've walked the sections. Enter red and see what happens. Also, 'red' doesn't really mean anything as difficulty varies between nationals / regional / european rounds so a yellow in the uk can be like a red european section.

Bikes are definately much better to ride, no complaints there. Also good you can choose a style and have the correct bike to do it on, not just one bike that sorta does TGS and sorta does comp and sorta does manuals and spins. However, it doesnt have the same 'excitement' it used to, where trials was developing so quickly. I think that certain lack of excitement also comes down to the internet - Back when you had to wait hours to download a trialskings vid on your 56k internet (bet there are some on here who don't know what that is) and download managers so mother could make a phone call etc it was sorta more special. Now you can flick through trials vids for hours and get them instantly.

Sounds like you're getting mad because you didn't win a comp?! A few things: When you ride, you automatically look for fun lines / things you can do / you might be able to do. Comps MAKE you ride a certain line, which may suit some people but you might not enjoy riding therefore you don't practise therefore you;re not very good at. Riding a green level route set out in your local riding spot with no pressure, thats set out how you want it, where no one is looking at you, where you're not knackered from the previous sections etc doesn't mean you'll be able to do it in a comp situation. If you ride a route that you didn't five EVERY section on, then thats the right route for you. If you don't enjoy comps, why do them? I thought riding was for enjoyment... You wern't good enough, move on, improve and go back better prepared next time. Everyone has off days.
-
Its possibly because you can be technically a fairly shit rider, but do well in comps, equally you can be a good rider and do shit in comps. Comps require comp practise, knowing when to take a tactical dab rather than a 5, knowing what technique would be the safest for the situation (eg a line you might do on the back wheel when out riding, you'll either 5 it or clean it. Hope between points on both wheels and you've got a good chance of cleaning or taking a dab), knowing how long it actually takes you to ride sections, techniques to conserve energy, knowing to plan your route so you don;t get stuck somewhere in the section you don;t wanna be, etc etc etc. Its a completely different thing to every day riding. It doesn't matter if you clatter through a section like a bull in a china shop if the end result is a clean or a couple of dabs.

It makes no real difference to be honest, I stripped the thread outta my 170 and had a spare 175, seems fine
-
I use 175 driveside and 170 nds to get the best of both worlds.
-
Sorry, I just think it would look shit. Try it and prove me wrong though?

Well obviously, it is in Hull
