They're great headsets, their only detriment being their weight but whatever. I've run a few in my time, and they've all been pretty much faultless. I managed to crack and pit the bearing race on a 2 year old one, but thats pretty damn good. All the pig's i've owned have lasted longer than my old Hope did. £7 is dece, go for it.

My parents are pretty cool 99% of the time, apart from this whole car dealio with insurance and shit. Passed my test, expecting to be actually driving... but no, 'cos i won't need a car at uni they think 8 months plus when i'm home isn't enough to warrant a car Plain madness. Tar is shit people. Shit. People used to use it when magura reds and blacks were the only pads out, using a gring with them was utterly shite and coke/tar was the only way. But fast forward 5 years and here we are, with way too many trials pads than we really need. So.... Either use a CLEAN rim (use a de-greaser) and Zoo pads or similar, or use a grind and some Plaz/Cousts/whatever you fancy. But honestly, tar was played out like, oh my god, like ten years ago lolololol.

Quite the useful post. As has been said, BTM was around a year or 2 ago, Observed Trials Magazine was also out before that. It's pretty much pointless making one as everything just gets put on here/OTN before anyone would have a chance to print and distribute anyways. Giro gets my vote. Just find one that suits your budget. Rememeber not to skimp, could save your life and they don't exactly wear out, i was using a Giro Switchblade up until last year that i got in 2000. It's still going as a full facer too.

BB7 for reals nukka. Get a De-awe-some lever, they're around £19 from memory. Any cable properly lubed should do the trick. Rotor size wise, 203mm would work but may well be way too powerful as you've said. The wooley hat shop (can't help you on websites, sorry) may well have the 160mm rotor. Avid BB5's seem to work well too, but arn't as adjustable as their more expensive cousin.
