  1. What courses would you sling to the side as 'shite'?
  2. Being a trials rider it's not gonna get used for anything else is it.
  3. Yeah no diff locks either... To be fair I'm not exactly doing the camel trophy, its more muddy fields than anything, but some fields can be particularly wet and particularly slippery. The Isuzu we have with ATs on it has never had a problem, but the ford ranger with standard road tyres has had to be pulled out a few times. Trying to make up for lack of low ratio box and diff locks with decent tyres really.
  4. Haha, couldn't reallly be bothered to go into it but yeah you're right its pretty interesting. My role is so varied I do everything from help out in the laboratory to managing the site work to writing and sending the reports out. Have been doing a lot of solar work recently, we have a contract with Hilti (same company as the drills etc) to do their solar sites and we are one of the only companies in the country to work out how to accurately test the steel piles solar panels sit on to see if they pass the loadings worked out by the structural guys for wind / snow loadings etc. This can then save them around 300mm off each pile, and if there are 40,000 steel piles in a field that adds up to be a lot. I manage / supervise up to 6 drillers on site (you'll know what drillers are like...) and run the day to day logistics of the job as well as collecting and collating the data. This week I have been working on a project involving a new disabled access bridge in St Austell station, Cornwall. I was there for a couple of weeks before christmas, again managing a team of 4 drillers and keeping 3 clients happy who had a full time site presence. That involved them digging and reinstating 6 hand excavated slit trenches up to 8m long 1.2 m deep while another team ran one of our rotary rigs which needed rock coring to 15m below ground level. Thats is more our bread and butter work, but recently solar and previously wind turbine stuff helped us through when the schools and hospitals etc wernt having any redevelopment. I've worked from lands end to the isle of sheppey to hull to norfolk to north wales and everywhere in between, various airports big (heathrow) and small (Newquay, Exeter), interesting factories and buildings (Thatchers Cider, a WD40 plant, abandoned holiday parks, empty Currys electrical shop, Jasper Conran's house, yadda yadda) and plenty of time in open fields away from anyone.
  5. Here to make the world a better place
  6. I'm an engineering geologist / geotechnical engineer. Went to uni, just turned 18 Finished uni Sent 10 CVs out Went for my first interview Got the job, started 2 months after university final exams Been there 4.5 years I make sure your house, the roads you drive on, the wind turbines and solar parks you see, the bridges you drive over and the office you work in doesn't fall over or subside. Also make sure you arn't living or working on contaminated ground.
  7. Will look into them, thanks... The freelander has 225 55 r17s on it, dont wanna go too huge profile but as i want it to be as good off road as possible its tricky. Also a toss up because I will drive all over the country on motorways then need the offroad capability once I get there. These are what I am after ideally! Another Isuzu we have uses them, not sure how big I can get away with diameter wise as the current ones are pretty low profile for a 4x4 (55). New to offroading!
  8. Anyone used Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres off road? Any good 17" all terrain / off road tyres that arn't huge in height?
  9. Cider is a strong contender.
  10. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/search.php?keywords=Hope+Reservoir+Bolt
  11. Whats the best Land Rover forum? Work have picked me up a Freelander.
  12. Repair looks almost factory standard. Not that it changes anything, but looks like whoever did it did a good job.
  13. Disk means you can: Do little turning stoppies on the front wheel to negotiate down rocks Ride to and from places without having to walk Keep the noise of a dragging brake to a minimum Take front wheel out without unbolting or letting tyre down Front magura has better bite and potentially hold which is good for bigger gaps / ups to front.
  14. Airbags are nuts, his head hadn't even started moving before it deployed.
  15. It doesn't, just odd to make reference to other peoples bank accounts, especially as it seems like you don't know them well enough to get correct info! Anyway, no beef intended.
  16. Then if she doesn't enjoy her dildo she can go walk out the door! Haha an oldie but a goodie, well played.
  17. Kinda weird how twice you've made reference to two different peoples bank accounts (Prawns and Euans) saying how rich they are. Its an odd thing to do.
  18. Yeah thats why I said you should email instead.
  19. If you were in the UK I;d say send it back to Hope or whoever you bought it from, as you're the other side of the world I;d send an email to them with a pic.
  20. Do something for them for christmas that doesnt cost much money? I know thats hard in this day and age but organise a family trip or make them all individual presents out of things they like / bake them cakes / whatever.
  21. He went over his limit? If you get a parking fine its because you've parked inappropriately? The phone company will have stated in the contract it will be X amount for X minutes over. Not their fault someone chose to go over it / didnt realise. They didn't HAVE to give Dan anything. Yes its exponentially more money per unit than he pays on contract, but the phone company is a business not a charity.
  22. Skoda, whatever. R.I.P to biggy and tupac, lookin down on us from the ghetto in the sky x
