You say you've been out of touch for 6 years, and yet you're trying to argue they don't crack. I've got some proto MAD forks in my garage that are still in 1 piece and are about 5 years old. I can pretty much bend the fork legs in with my hands so they touch. If i whakced them on my rig today, doesn't mean they're not shit forks!

Don't bother. But if you must, take it apart using the special King tools/a bikeshop (or if you're ghetto like Janson use a hammer/screwdriver). Get the spring (theres only one, and its a big jobber) and pull it apart gently, making sure not to distort it.

How do you know it hasn't affected your riding? Maybe if you didn't smoke, you could sidehop an inch higher and gap half a foot bigger. no one knows. But then i guess you are an amazing rider so its ok.
