  1. I'd try and find an old BB7 caliper, mine have always been awesome. The mono mini is more of an xc brake and doesn't really have the power for trials, even with EBC reds. You could probably pick up an old caliper for not far off the £14ish it is for new pads anyway EDIT: I have the orginal Hope Minis on my 4x bike and fitted some EBC reds to them around 3 years ago, and they did improve the bite somewhat, but not to a huge degree. I don't think any Hopes other than the Mono Trial would be great for trials.

Just going on my experience... And to quote Andrew Tonkery: "Kings have lemons..I've had 3-4-5? king hubs, one of them was just like this- it never worked, even after sending it to king for an overhaul...it was an ISO w/trials internals, hd axle, steel drivesheell, funbolts...skipped all the time, was a huge piece of trash. Every other one has been fine, current one is a classic w/aluminum driveshell- normal axel (foley), just run of the mill cross country...its over 5 years old, I've owned it the whole time and I've neven even touched it- never opened it up to lube it or anything. It has never skipped or come loose since it came out of the box" Didn't matter what I did to my hub, it skipped continuously.
  3. I'll be in London I'm afraid! Though if any of y'all are around before the 18th-ish of December, its on.

If you get a 'good' one it will be excellent. If you get a 'bad' one it will be shite, in my experience.
  5. Not usually, bars often have Pepsi and when you ask for a JD and Coke they'll say 'JD and Pepsi' back to you while getting your drink, to cover their backs. You end up with JD and Pepsi, but you'll be non the wiser.
  6. Well we'd better all bow to your great knowlege then! I've had coke that tasted like slightly sweet carbonated water, and that was one of the worst things to enter my mouth. Pepsi wouldn't be much nicer i'd imagine... As for the 'nobody professional uses it for a mixer' thing... You're simply wrong. I agree on the tastes though, Coke is slightly 'spicy' I guess?
  7. Not everyone are c**ts. There are plenty of people in Europe who are good riders, well respected and trusted, and will be keen to give as many people a chance to ride it as possible. If you ride frequently, a month is a long time to get used to a frame, and be able to tell its good and bad points. Yeah its gonna get scratched, yeah it'll get dented, but thats the point. Its like your most comfy shoes... they may be f**ked, but they're still your favorite and theres a lot of fond memories attached to them. Sending the frame to some dick whos just gonna twat the hell out of it and snap it in half isn't ideal, which is why the riders are being carefully selected. If it does snap, welding it up for the next man in line would be a great thing to do.
  8. £499 from the Tarty beys if my memory serves me correct.
  9. Pepsi Max is the daddy dog.
  10. In my experience, definately. I ran a linear cable outer and a Clarks inner on my last BB7, though have run XTR outer/inner, linear slic, clarks, jagwire etc etc.
  11. I have both calipers here in front of me, the new one is 2 piece and bolted through, the older one appears to be cast in one piece then bolted. The new one has a lack of material around the top of the pad area along with lack of material on the inboard side of the caliper, compared to the old one. I too have been a bike mechanic in the past, and I've used BB7s for around 4 years now, using multiples of both Avid SD7 and XTR levers. I have gone through 3 different older silver calipers (all of them snapped) and obviously replaced cables/pads/rotors more than once per caliper. All of this meaning the brake had to be re-set up. I can assure you the same skill was used setting up the new caliper compared to the old ones. However I agree the new adjustment dials are both more hand-friendly and more robust.
  12. Bullshit, people you know don't look like that.
  13. Don't bother with the new (black) BB7 caliper if thats the way you were headed. I couldn't get mine to work for shit, felt so spongey and horrible. The older silver ones however are awesome. I now have a Mono Trial, and its really good. Avid Juicys are pretty good, though not as powerful as BB7s/Mono trials.
  14. Good to see you got your collar popped for the ladies!
  15. Don't you weigh like 6 stone? Anyway, sorry for your loss.
  16. Yes, you can feel it is definately 7% better... but certainly isn't 10% better like I've heard being banded around willy nilly.
  17. I dunno - text me on my phone number if anyones gonna be about, its a pretty long trip for me to get into the centre but if theres some street training going down I may have to join in.

  21. Yeah, because I just told you. Anyways, what do you want to know about them? Thinking of using them or just curious?
