  1. The Trials comp in Fort William is slowly taking shape; the event now has a name – The Scottish One Day Trial, you never know, it may become as famous as the six day event held in the same area! Trials info has started to appear on the main event web site; www.fortwilliamworldcup.co.uk For four days Trials riders rode for audiences at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, promoting the event. Entry forms will be available soon. Fred.
  2. I am meeting with the event organisers later this week to finalise some details. The entry form for the trial will be available for down load from the main event web site soon. Fred.
  3. Yes it’s an unfortunate clash, but the organisers want a Trial, so it’s unavoidable. It will give some British riders the chance to compete in a new environment as U.K. Comps are not normally run along side of other major cycling events.
  4. The organisers of the Fort William Down Hill World Cup, (10/11. 09. 05) have invited me to run a Trials Comp to run in conjunction with the main competition, I’ve accepted. The event will take place in the finish area at the foot of the Down Hill course. There will be both natural and man made sections. Its early days yet and the format is still evolving, but I envisage that riders of all standards will be given the opportunity to compete without licence complications As yet the Trial is still to be named; it will almost certainly be run on the Saturday, details are already being circulated to would be sponsors. All sections will be accessible to the thousands of spectators that regularly gather to watch the Down Hill, with the man made sections positioned in the heart of the spectator area. Many Down Hill fans have never seen trials before so it’s an ideal opportunity to take our sport to the cycling public, no doubt the Comp will attract the attention of the assembled media. Further details to follow………………. Fred Savage.
  5. Mark, no surprise that I could not remember Mr. Ropers frame; it must be nearly a year ago. Let me tell you what was wrong with it. The rear hub was skewer located. I had been moving during use and the hard knurled washers on the skewer had eroded the drop outs. Had the hub and skewer had been fitted to any Aluminum frame it would have had the same effect. Strictly speaking I was not obliged to change the frame, but regardless of passage of time and usage I always consider every case on its own merits. Mr. Ropers 1065 was the first frame of that model that had been the subject of a warranty claim, so I decided to replace it. Stupidly I thought that he may put a thank you post on a forum, I am not a self indulgent person, so I asked him not to comment, and it’s that simple. No one has had a three month time limit applied to their claim by me, the U.K. importer. If someone has a fair point they will be treated fairly. I suggest that from a legal standpoint “treated fairly” is impossible to define, the factory quote three months against manufacturing faults so that is what’s quoted. Regarding the prices, yes, our frames do appear expensive by comparison to some other manufactures frames, but you do get a reliable product. Fred.
  6. Seeing as Koxx wouldn't even warranty Jack_Flash's frame at first 'cos they kept making up excuses, the fact that Onza are giving him a cheap replacement at all is pretty good, to be fair. I know it sucks that it broke so quickly, but that's life I guess. ←
  7. I’m pleased you enjoyed the sections, I did my best to use new areas. The sections were on the long side, but with so many Brits going to the European and World rounds this year I feel it is important to offer events that will offer a taste of things to come. All in all everyone seemed to be enjoying the challenge, a new format was tried for the mixed route riders which worked well. I would like to say a big thanks to all those that observed or helped with admin, the event was a fine team effort, special thanks to those who managed to set record time calculating the results, it’s the earliest I have ever set off home from a British round. I am sure the full results will be on line soon. F.S.
  8. Toby, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that so far you have had the misfortune to break two Level Boss’. That is strange as the Level Boss frame is ultra reliable. Why have I not heard from you ? Mail me at Koxx U.K. - I have had no discussions with Level Boss owners or retailers on behalf of customers regarding fractures during 2005. If your frame has failed due to a manufacturing fault and not as a result of impact damage or similar I will be happy to consider replacing your frame. Warranty claims are so few that we can, within reason, look at each case in its own light. Fred Savage.
  9. Cracked 05 Level Boss? Why don’t we know about it? The KOXX Level Boss continues to be one of, if not the most durable Trials frames available. In my experience frame owners that experience problems are very quick in contacting the importer concerned in an effort to find a “solution” to their problem. No Level Boss owners have contacted us – 20 or 26” during 2005 complaining of fractures.
  10. Those of you from the North East may be interested in an event taking place in Stockton on Tees this weekend, The U.K. Unicycle Convention. The trials competition could be interesting to watch, Unicycling has its own World Trials championship and many top riders will be in attendance. 13. Glad to see you lads had a good time!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not only the petrol thats cheap in France. Wayne, I filmed Benito's drop, he is not well - I have been around the BikeTrials scene for over 12 years now, its the first time I have felt like shouting "don't do it". It was crazy - I can't understand why he's not dead. We have 6 hours of video - including the speed trials, so watch out for a KD2005 DVD. I was well impressed with the way the Brits has a go in the speed event, it was insane - some even had to put their socks over the ends of their trousers incase they "boweled out". Suggest you come for the whole week next year. Fred.
  14. As an event KOXX DAYS 2005 was outstanding, no doubt there will be heaps of news about the street ride, the comp and the “après trial” activities bouncing around the forums of the World – so here’s a taster of some of the new products that the public may not be aware of………………………………………….. An XTP 20” is now available painted in a fade in – fade out version of the German national colours, it will be marketed as the Hosel pro model. It may not seem worthwhile making two versions of the same frame, but the paint job is truly outstanding. Two 20” frames have been launched with their own brand name, although there is no pretence about their origins, they are obviously KOXX by the quality. The projected retail price is around £175. A new steel street frame with disc mounts is in the pipeline, the proto type looks outstanding. A new 20” “Mini Mod” for younger champions, with top specification parts. Projected price – less than the LEVEL BOSS, but more than the TRICK. A new 26” single speed V – Brake complete bike for less than £500. A new line in casual wear with modified logo. A new CNC 26” fixed rear hub with disc mounts. Coming soon. A totally new 20” version of a popular 26” model, test bike will appear in the U.K. as soon as possible. A shorter version of a popular 26” PRO – MODEL. It will be more than 3 months before we see a Coustellier KOXX Pro – Model. At this time their own brand is no more, all further developmental input will be through their new sponsors. That’s all I can remember about the Trials products, but then there is the 4X and BMX range to think about. KOXX U.K.
  15. If there is any news about this subject at KOXX DAYS I'll put up a post.
  16. Hi, a couple of reminders for KOXX DAYS visitors. Don’t forget your E111. Those riding in the comp will need a BIU or UCI licence. Under 18’s travelling on their own and riding in the comp will need a letter of parental consent or a responsible adult present. Fred.
  17. To clear up any confusion heres a list of TRY ALL stem sizes that we keep in stock. 25.4mm clamp size, compatible with our standard bars. 26" stems; 75mm/17 deg. 90mm/17deg. 105mm/17deg. 20"stem 165mm/35deg. 31.8mm clamp size, with angled stem cap, compatible with our flat and riser bars plus other "bulg" bars. 150mm/30deg. 130mm/20deg. KOXX U.K.
  18. John, I did'nt take it that way, no problem. I just wanted people to know that the organisers were not willing to take the risk of advertising the attendance of a popular rider like TRA only to have him withdraw because his wrist was still bad. I see their point in a way - it would lead to a "they said" situation. Fred.
  19. Looks like I did'nt explain myself very well................................. Its not up to KOXX who rides, but the organisers. For my part I think Kenny always puts on a good show, as would Caisso, but they were not invited. I think they chose those with 2004 World titles, its not a bad bench mark to adopt as they are sure to on form. Like Bongo I am not a lover of rules and regs, but they are there for a reason. You can spend all your time fighting or making the best of a situation as it stands. Fred. ps. Gilles will ride.
  20. I think that Forum users need to know some of the facts surrounding the Bike show trial arena line up. The list is compiled by Martin & Martyn strictly on an invitational basis. Originally TRA was included, but he is currently injured, M & M did not know this when they made their invitation. It was decided that an assessment of TRA’s fitness would be made at KOXX DAYS. It appears that left it too late for TRA to obtain cheap/reasonably priced flights. For some reason it costs more to fly from his home to the U.K. than it costs to fly from the U.K. to Japan. The Bike show organisers do not pay the riders appearance money, they make a small contribution to the cost of accommodation, and they do not pay for flights. Far too expensive to take a gamble. Shortly after TRA withdrew, Gilles became available. As he is currently resident in the U.K. it made economical sense to ask the organisers if they wanted him to ride. So, now we have Gilles instead of TRA, I am sure he will put on a good show. Like many of you I have read that Gilles will be at this trial or that, but he has not shown. We intend to help him get to some events during 2005 to make the most of his stay in the U.K.
  21. Well said Barbara, its about time the record was put straight. I attended the Biketrial U.K. AGM and voted on the issues propoesd. I have made proposals that have not found favour with the majority, in those instances I rely upon the good judgement of my fellow committee members and accept their descision - I don't walk out. Fortunatly enough people feel the same and we still have a fully functional Biketrial U.K. to keep things running. I could not attend the Tykes AGM. I did however ask a friend to deliver a letter on my behalf offering to run some events, thus relieving current organisers of some of the work load. As I understand it no one came forward initially to take on the adminisstrative roles within the club, so the meeting was closed without offers of help ever being heard. This is a personal post and nothing to do with KOXX - UK. Fred Savage. Biketrial U.K. committee member. NBTC Clerk of the course. U.K. World round Clerk of the course.
  22. Gilles Coustellier has signed a two year contract with KOXX.fr. The factory will work with Gilles to produce a signature frame. No doubt Gilles will be able to attend more international events than he was able to in 2004. For the remainder of his stay in the U.K, KOXX-UK will assist Gilles to attend competitions and rides when ever possible. KOXX – UK.
