  1. Haha! You make me smile, because I used to think like this. And god it would be amazing if i knew two people who won the lottery! Especially a good friend! She'd be my best friend then! She downloaded the odd song, not many. And definately not massive amounts of data, she is on 56k!
  2. I am not a scared kid. I'm an accountant. I know about the law and money. Anyway, if they can automate the logging of people on p2p networks, think how easy it is to make money out of this thing. They send say 5 subpoena's out a day, each offering a £2,000 out of court settlement. They all pay. That's £10,000 a day. In America they are doing it because it is making the govornment a lot of money. They are sueing people 200 at a time. Dont be surprised if it comes over here. By the way the costs of administering the fine to my friend: 1 envelope - 20p A few sheets of paper - 2p A guy to operate the computer they used to catch her - £100 other cheap stuff like electricity. Like i said, she never went to court so no costs there.

    Fines

I now know of two people who have been hit with £2,000 fines for downloading music off the internet, one of them a close friend, and she can't really afford to pay it. I'm not sure on many of the details, but she was logged downloading songs off the internet, they gave her a list of songs, how long it took her to download them, every last detail. The fine for breaching copyright (which you do when you download ONE song) is something quite high, probably >£4,000, and this £2,000 was an out of court settlement. They logged her for six months before prosecuting. This is scary shit. It is nowhere on the news yet but trust me it is happening to people. Do what you want, but i know this morning i removed all of my p2p applications. Does anyone else know anyone who has been 'done'?
  4. There is an error in your graphics card drivers. It is using crappy default windows drivers to power your card. Reinstall the drivers, download them from the web site.
  5. Stops the brain from turning to mush. At least I can sleep tonight knowing the earth wont be in a deep freeze when I wake up dead. That would be shit.
  6. Lets get mathematical then. The amount of power that reaches the earth from the sun will be equal to: The suns total power x proportion of area that the earth covers of the sphere surrounding the sun at the earths orbit Firstly, the sphere at the earths orbital distance: surface area of sphere = 4pi x r^2 radius of earths orbit = 4 x 3.1415 x 149,000,000,000^2 =2.79 x 10^23 meters squared Secondly, lets compare this to the tiny surface area (imaging the earth as a disk looking at it from far away) of the earth: area of circle = pi x r^2 = 3.1415 x 6,380,000^2 = 1.28 x 10^14 This is several orders of magnitude lower than the surface area of the sphere that represents the suns output. Now for the final answer, the percentage: 1.28 x 10^14 / 2.79 x 10^23 x 100 = 0.000000045% Well now, thats slightly less than 1 percent! There may be some massive errors in the above by the way, its ages since i did physics! The actual estimated energy output of the sun is 4 × 10^26 watts. So the amount that reaches earth must be about 1.83 x 10^17 watts. f**k me I take back what I said earlier about an energy deficit on earth. That there is a lot of energy. We are all trials minded here, so here is a comparison: In one second, enough energy hits the earth to make one thousand million 15stone (95kg) trials rider and bike combos jump 190km into the air, assuming a constand gravitational field as you go up. In ONE second! No wonder I ride better on a sunny day with all that energy behind me.
  7. E=mc squared already applies to nukes so the bombs have already been made. It also applies to nuclear power plants, but they are dangerous. The new fusion plants will be safer and be able to convert move mass into energy. By the way I think e=mc squared applies to the burning of fossil fuels as well.
  8. The sun might give off as much energy in two minutes as we use annually, but if what you are saying is true, it's looking pretty dismal for us. We are a small planet millions of miles away, and so most of that energy, which is radiated in all directions, will just spew out into outer space. I think we might even be running an energy defecit with all the fossil fuels, im not sure. And what's wrong with nuclear power? Christ people you are typical of this country, wanting things done but not having any ideas as to how to get it done. You're winging about how we are polluting the earth with greenhouse gasses by burning fossil fuels, but at the same time winging about the only viable alternative at the minute; nuclear fuel. Nothing else can produce energy in this country on a large enough scale to feed our energy needs. There are alternatives for other more sunny countries though. But guess what, America doesnt want to know. One of the biggest projects going on at the minute is the construction of a massive solar tower in Australia. See here for some information on the project, but google for better information. These things are the (maybe short term though) future in clean energy production in sunny countries. They will also be some of the tallest structures on the planet! In addition to the solar power plants, a new type of nuclear power plant is also under developement, called nuclear fusion. This is opposed to the nuclear fission plants we have now. The big difference is that the fuel for the new fusion plants is hydrogen, which is not radioactive, making these plants safer to operate (hopefully). They produce massive amounts of energy really cheaply. One has not been successfully built as of yet though, partly due to an argument by the scientists working on the project as to weather or not the first one should be built in Japan or France. The projects name is ITER, google for it if you want some more info. Anyway there is my summary of whats going on in the clean energy production research labs of the world! I think we should be ok. I mean look out into outer space and you can't think for the sound of advanced alien civilizations that lived long enough to broadcast messages into space. None of them wiped themselves out!
  9. Not the only one by far. She was hot! I bought some echo pure forks from you, managed to get £5 off them too. Thanks for that! I think you were probably cheapest there anyway which was nice. Nice stall. But really, the reason I bought from there was because of the price and quality products you were selling, not because of a flashy layout. Although that will obviously attract more people to come and look round.

    Biff

Hey biff timms here nice vid. Think you may need to change your video de-interlacing settings though. Unless all those motion lines are intentional? I didn't notice them on your previous vids. Just let me know if you need to know how to do this.
  12. Yeah corish me, dean and phil are going i think (the riders from scawsby). You yourself going? If so see you there. £20 entrance seems a bit hefty. Might have to take a length of carpet and climb over the razorwire fences.
  13. Why would they try to ban it? Because it doesnt work and its a rip off maybe? (Y)
  14. It's my Throbbing Beefheart or English Longsword.
  15. Is it that dinky-donky acid stuff you find in cells. I cant spell very well but it looks like it could be. plebohmone 2 words
  16. Thats called a palindrome. 'Redivider' is the longest one i think. Another one slightly bike related: Guests
  17. koxx mine: China Erotican edit - not intentional!
  18. you need to have working gprs (internet) settings from orange... find them on the site. Then you need working picture message settings also, and get these from the site also. Enter them both. Try it. Should work.
  19. Alex, how many people do you know who have died of cancer. Probably a few. Dont you wonder what causes this? As opposed to say 50 years ago, when the life expectancy was similar but cancer wasn't such a big killer? Its technology, the developement of all these things which obviously are not natural and should not be eaten, but are adopted and used in foods because fat cat food producers want to make more money. Why use sugar in your roller cola if you can use phenyl-alanine? So what if its a carcinogen, I wont drink it! Let the people die for my profits. Their conciences are helped by the fact that it is very hard to prove that anything gives you cancer, becuase well we dont understand it TOO well yet, and hey, who's going to fund research if it means the loss of jobs at Roller Cola Inc? And yes alex, the sun WAS shining 50 years ago but it didn't give them cancer. In fact it was shining brighter 100 before that (due to particle pollution nowadays) but cancer wasnt a killer. Then maybe it didnt have chance back then but anyway... Did you know a lot of farmers have a bit of land set aside for growing veg for there own personal use. They see all the barrols of stuff with warnings on being spread on the fields, and make a decision.
  20. Most dont let you do 3rd party fire theft on cars over a certain velue, that value being quite low, like £3000. Also if the price difference is not that high it is worth paying the little extra. Going on my mum/dads insurance is not an option seeing as the main driver generally has to do most miles in the car. They both have cars already. The companies wont let me do it, as I commute so far. Or rather, if I did do it and tried to claim they'd say, well what were you doing driving to work in it every day, you're not the main driver. I just wish there were a way around the stupidly high prices but stay legal. Like driving over to france getting insured with a company over there then driving back... who knows. I'll look into it!
  21. Might get an Audi TT then! Now to find one reeeaaal cheap... Anyway elephant is actually my cheapest quote already, at £2000, so yeah, they are good.
  22. It's a VW golf 1.9TDI, with a red I and silver other letters (it makes a difference). Thing is work's a 25 mile commute on the motorway so I don't want to drive a fiat panda or anything, i'd rather get somat decent or just go on the train. So nobody pays £2000 then?
  23. Hello there chaps, the aim of my post is to assertain a round figure of how much you paid for your car insurance, aged around 18. My quotes have been turning up prices of £2000 and the likes, which I think is jolly high and rather a load of codwallop. So if you would be so kind gentlemen as to list how much you actually paid for your insurance, aged 18, not on your mums (or dads), and also say what car this was for. Thank you kindly. Yours sincearly, Extreme_biker0
