  1. fellas, my fellow trials riders.... I'm afraid I can top you all. I broke my ankle when that happened to me, I was going farly fast already (not a trials bike) and stood up to accelerate past someone I think, my trouser leg got caught and because my full weight was on my other foot I pulled my own foot forward and down past the pedal onto the floor where it dragged and I fell off. Aside from lots of bruses and grazes etc I had broken my ankle. so watch out peeps!!!! hehehe who brakes their ankle like that?
  2. heheh I was hoping that the bike I bought from ebay would be ridable once I had assembled it from postage. but there are a lot of things need doing to it, more than I had imagined whic has annoyed me a little since I was all geared up for a ride. brakes needed going over (very old Magura Hc33's) needed a new seatpost wheels needed truing and maybe re building etc etc etc.. however once I had played with the back breaks I found out that the brakes wouldn't fit onto the frame at all (the seller hadn't even put them on propery), a cable mount on the frame got in the way... logical answer? Cut the thing off? naaaaa - so I've bought a new frame! a brand new T-rex. I haven't even been on my first ride back yet and I'm spending money. moral of this very long story (sorry for going on so much) is that I'm in your situation too! drumhitter@hotmail.com email me if you'd like company to ride, I'm in shwsbury so might come out to stourbridge if persuaded with money and home cooking ). Ant
  3. I've just received a bike recently with some quite high rise bars and am looking forward to trying different angles but unfortunatly they aren't very long, obviously for trials riding I'm told longer bars are better, so I might be changing them soon. which brings me to a related question - does anyone know why people to choose straight bars? I'm new back but before I stopped everyone semed to be look for the right riser bar. hmmm have fun everyone! p.s. if the guys above didn't ask your question I'm sure the moral of the story is to just find a setting that works best for you, go ou with an alen key and try riding different types of obsticles you're working on and see which feels easier.
  4. I'm selling a DDG shooter if anyone's interested. just the frame though but you might like it as a spare if you like the bike so much? it's had a re spray and is new looking, good condition etc.... sorry thought it was worth mentioning! Hope I haven't broken the rules etc... Ant
  5. How did you guess I was a percussionist?? very well done sir. More of a drummer recently as there aren't any gigs on percussion that pay well, trumpet's my first instrument though so I'm a trumpet drummer. I've just had a bit of a let down with my bike - I received it this morning but one of the brake pads on the magura brakes had fallen off in transit. so I need to get down to the bike shop to get a new pair, I was hoping to get it together and ridable all in the same day but possibly not.... damn. when I think about it I might just cop out and ask them to set up the brakes for me, I hear they're a little tricky and it's a while since I did anything other than pump a tyre up.
  6. Wow that was quick, thank you for your replys everyone I was worried there'd be no one up for it, biking that is. Seriously though that's great. Yes yes yes I realised after I posted this topic that the midlands is actually quite a big place! My fault sorry... I live in Shrewsbury and might shortly be going back to music college in birmingham if I manage to muster the money/patience up. Cheers p.s. Thanks for the plea Nicky - I'm sure they'll all realise I'm a stand up guy who trys too hard soon enough! tee hee hee... and I'm definably up for a notts ride, say the word my friend I'm there on the train in a second. Should I just keep an eye on the main posts then? Not sure how this works.
  7. what are mod bikes like the travel to riding spots on? I know they're a lot harder than the stock bikes and I wandered if it's worth trying to find one to use instead of the stock I have now. How much better are they for Trials? do you think it's worth it? Cheers, happy riding everone.
  8. Hello everyone! My name's Antony Stevens, I'm a 22 year old musician returning to trials riding after 4 years of messing around, using my bike just to get from A to B on (what's that all about) and am really loking forward to going on some of these "big" rides I'm reading so much about on the main forums. I get my Trials specific Stock bike (with a DDG shooter frame) in a couple of days and after then will be up for getting out and finding out how much improving I have to do - quite possilbly a lot. So if there are any riders or groups of riders out there who fancy pulling me along out in the midlands that'd be great. Cheers (I just read that back - sounds really boring doesn't it! not as sad as I sound honest)
