  1. Yeah Hemel seems alright looking - but no slots on the Friday I am looking at this time around, Adrenaline Alley is about 2 hours drive so doable with an early start. Anyone tried Creation in Birmingham?
  2. Hello all, Picking the collective hive mind, have pretty much finished my Hex in time for the winter weather.. wondering if anyone is aware of any skateparks that allow single speed MTB (trials, DJ) located in the South of England. Thanks!! Brett
  3. All valid points, but, as with anything like this - all on personal preference. Whilst HS33's with Evo's mounts can need a bit of meddling for alignment and position upkeep - if that is your thing, there must be a way? These style EVO boosters go to 90mm - so if it doesn't fit - guess you could use a 2 bolt booster (Racing Line Small is 80 - 102mm) instead from Tarty / other trials supplier? Otherwise, if you stick to vee - get yourself some uprated pads, slik cable as well for that nice feel. These backings are superb! https://www.tartybikes.co.uk/vbrake_pads/tnn_engineering_cnc_vbackings_with_post/c84p11370.html Then grab a set of material to your liking (or grind if you run one) https://www.tartybikes.co.uk/brake_pad_refills/c552.html My preferred cable - https://shop.odysseybmx.com/products/slic-kable
  4. Oh yes!! That seat is superb - though impossible to find I would imagine. Thinking cable brakes, have a V sorted for the rear and a not very period BB7 in the garage.. Such a sweet build!
  5. Not just content with a HEX, I also managed to get my hands on a a mint Leeson 609 Frame and Pashley (disc) forks to play with building as well! Might go for a "of the time" build - brown frame and green decals makes part colours interesting for the build. Anyone have any build pics out there to use for scoping parts?! Cheers, Brett
  6. Thank you sir! Nice to hear more love on the Hayes brakes as another option, especially as Hope Techs are wallet denters.
  7. Original Limey was a different yoke.. (pics upside down as I was interested in the dt dents on this one)

That sliding bike ramp is cool!
  9. Thanks both! Yeah wanted to be relatively no-nonsense (there is a splash of Ti bolts across it mind). Zee's are a good mid level brake, decent power with the right pads, but not savage Saint power to fling me off. Depending on how long this one stays with me - hopefully a while - I might upgrade to some Hope brakes eventually as they are my preferred. But for starting out, as long as the Zee's stop me on an edge I am good! Few more bits then will get out and ride - just hope this global warming created late summer lasts a little more to enjoy some dry riding..
  10. Managed to get some time in the garage to throw it together a little more, still need to get the brakes bled and set up, chain / tensioner set up and shortern the rear hose a little. But the sparkly orange is a great colourway!
  11. Anyone ever know where this got to? Heard of a few prototypes with a mid-school geo and some cool bits.. but then disappeared?
  12. OK OK, disliked 😆 - the stays and the rim brake for me... though still better than the mile long bikes of old. I couldn't seem to get the right set up around stem / bar to feel happy on it, and found that running a rear maggie on it in a time when the Fourplay in 2012 went dual disc was a shame. Interesting to see if this newer one remedies my personal gripes.
  13. Bit of a score, managed to pick up a NOS 2018 Inspired Hex Frameset in sparkling orange last year. Been slowly acquiring the parts, and finding the time to build the thing - last night managed to make a start: Will have a rolling version of it at the weekend, but the spec coming is: 2018 HEX Frame and Fork, FSA Integrated Headset and XT Hollowtech II BB SLX Cranks with Inspired integrated bash, DMR V12 Magnesium pedals Hope PRO 4 Trials on Inspired rims, Holy Rollers Trialtech 90*35 with Black logos w/ Arcade risers (Ti bolts) Shimano Zee m640 with Uberbike pads Inspired tripod w/ slim kevlar saddle After hating disliking the Mark 1 Hex (and never feeling quite happy with how it rode), hoping this one will be a little more fun - especially being dual disc! Updates to follow. Brett
  14. That is not bad! I remember when sub 10 was a thing on the Koxx Kloud.. looking at the way they get thrown about pretty stiff as well
  15. Those were lovely frames!! Combined with the ti bolts etc. that looks particularly sexy.. Ouch, that is a major fail on those - hope not physical damage to you whilst they died
  16. Oh yeah, those ones with proprietary parts you have to consider as well. And yeah, if it is something like a DOB magnesium monstrosity that just died, that is not worth the low weight.. it has to be able to take the forces. This is more a toe dip, what is out there that was so lightweight in a build. Proprietary or not..
  17. Afternoon all, Been having a think about comp style frames and the old weight weenie days of yore (well for me anyway) and curious to see what the "lightest" production frames, non-carbon 26" were / are? Semi tempted to find one for a "light as possible" build project, but wondering for those who rode these style frames, lowest weight stocks were.. Cheers! Brett
  18. Same frame as yours, so superb! Cheers
  19. The frameset is in the box still, so not measured it.. just wondering if anyone knows what I would need on a 2018 HEX frameset when running 180s? TIA
  20. That is also interesting point, some of the Inspired 24"s dance either side of 1000mm wb, with the Fourplay below, the Flow above..
  21. The nostalgia hit me and I built up a Zero 4 years back, just wasn’t as good as I remember and sold it haha Yeah 24” just kept looping out and it felt just tiny. The Alias is a 20” but is a weird, fun mix for street and TGS. It’s super sketchy as it’s designed for being all round.. though not ridden it as much as had a baby last year! Also purchased a BASE TA26 frame and found a NOS 2018 Hex frame-set (as they never pop up) in the garage in case I decide 26” again. Had a Mk 1 Hex in the past, felt like a nice progression, the chain stays being shorter took some getting used to, kept looping back wheel moves as wasn’t compensating. But wanted dual disc and this was an HS33 rear frame. Inspired frames are rare as they were typically sold full build, you are better trying for a TMS or Extension if you want frameset and build up.
  22. Honest advice.. Get on some and see how you feel?? Where are you based, see if there are any riders locally you can take a ride out with and see. Everyone here will have a different opinion, but, until you get on them and get a feel on what suits, it is hard to judge. As actually, Zero to a Hex are completely incomparable with the investment in geo, materials, etc. that Inspired have put in.. in a good way! So will feel "different" but more at home as big wheels. 24" though might suit just your riding style and the slightly smaller wheels and feel might suit you more?? Good luck in the hunt! (I went for the, gonna build a 24" and just absolutely couldn't get my head around it, the body shape differences etc. so sold it and have an Alias and building a Hex as my personal experience/opinion).
  23. 2018 HEX is the following geometry (as I have a NOS Orange frame set as well) and it is the exact same GEO as the latest as well: Wheelbase: 1023mm Chainstay: 380mm BB Height: +20mm Head Angle: 73.5˚ Seems they haven't changed the geo formula here for a while!
  24. I know.. as seen in the other threads, the sheer lack of materials and increasing costs just killing lesser covered sports, guess they have to consider the wider parent brand and what is actually cost efficient.. Shame, as this frame and the 24" they did are pretty cool!
  25. In my hunt for a bike that covers an "all round" kind of riding - picked this up in the summer. Timing as always, had a baby, so poor things only been ridden twice in anger.. True to its creation.. it handles what you throw at it, hops, manuals, spins, gaps - just completely chuck-able, if a little twitchy sometimes! Great spec from the previous owner: Alias 20.2, Rockman Forks, Hope Pro 4's on Trialtrech rims, Saint brakes (savage power). Looking forwards to some better weather and time in the NY to really put it through its paces.
