New To Trials, These Bikes Any Good?
lawrence osborn replied to Fixed Pants™'s topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Hey dude, Welcome to the forum and just remember put quality and effort into your posts and you should be validated in no time! Well I would say don't ever get a saracen as they are really rubbish bikes although thats my opinion and someone may think different, also the Shogun gimp is a very hard bike to learn on and will hold you back quite allot. If I was you I would try and get the Onza t-vee they are worth their money, i started on one and it lasted ages it was a brilliant entry level bike! Hope you get the right bike and keep at it. -
Sorry but i forgot to put this in, which frame is the strongest out of the two or are the roughly the same?
-
I have asked in the sticky thread 'random questions' but no one seems to have replied to it. If I were to but a fully zoo python from tarty bikes link or a fully built GU typhoon from tarty bikes link, which would you say is the better bike out of the two bikes and why?

Hi, Im New To Trials And The Forums
lawrence osborn replied to minicrack's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Hey Darren, First things first welcome to the forum hope we can help you or be helped by you. Five bricks is pretty good if you have only been riding for six days! I could only just about hop after six days, also sounds like you got a bargain with your bike. Well keep at it and you will improve practice makes perfect as they say. -
Personally when i get up walls i always try to go to my back wheel as it feels and looks much better, but if the wall high for my ability or has a slippy or very bumpy surface on the top i prefer going to flat.

Hey i live in bude Cornwall were abouts in Cornwall do you live. We should try and meet up one day the riding here is pretty good!

I ride with a front free wheel and I prefer it lots more than a rear one. Rear free wheels: rear free wheels are good for beginners. The problem with the rear free wheel is, if you try to wheelie hop up or across something it is hard to get power compared to a front free wheel, but on the other hand it is good for natural as they are very sensitive and move with the slightest kick. Front free wheels: front free wheels are the business now the provide lots of power and are better to ride than a rear free wheel in many peoples opinions. In my opinion they feel as if they run better and for some reason have a better sound . The majority, if not all professional riders ride with a front free wheel so it is most probably better. But the only problem is they seem to break more than rear free wheels. I ride a t-pro with a front free wheel and like it much much more than my mates t-bird with a rear free wheel, also the good thing is they are almost the same gear ratio so you will not feel much difference the front free wheel is a bit tougher to pedal with, so if you have the money convert it, it really is worth it!

Well you should really tell us on what is better. We can't really tell you what is better for you because not everyone has seen you ride. You should say "In your opinion what is better a rolling gap to rail or a static gap to rail?" Well try both and see what you prefer, I don't mind wether it is rolling or static I just think rolling gap to rail is a bit harder to land on a rail and keep the bike up. Also I prefer a gap off a wall to a rail but doing a rail any type of way is still good! Oh and Mr manx what a great fall especially the noise you made. brilliant.

Yeah coust pads are good pads they have a sharp bite to them when they grip the rim and preferably use a medium grind with them. If you use the medium grind and coust brake pads they will work as a team and the brake will be uber!

Well dry is the best to ride in! I have found riding in the wet is hard and can be very sketchy to ride in the wet, I find your brakes slip lots, your feet slip off your pedals and your tyres slip. I do ride in the rain if I really feel like riding but it is scary because I don't trust my brakes or bike. But on the other hand riding in the wet can help you with your riding skills because you may find riding in the wet is very hard so when you come to ride the stuff in the dry it will seem easy. I like riding in the dry much better because it has it's advantages, the obstacles are not wet there for your wheels will grip better on them, your rims are not wet so your breaks will not slip, you trust your bike more and you can go much much bigger well i'm not saying you can't go big in the wet just it would be incredible stupid. Also I just feel better riding in the dry I find it more fun. And I think the majority of us prefer the dry to!

How Do You Stop Your Knuckle Hitting The Leaver?
lawrence osborn replied to AlexC's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
There are a few ways to stop your knuckles hitting the lever. You could move the lever down the handle bars closer to your stem as mentioned by Brendan, as well as stopping your knuckle/s being hit with the lever this will also give you more leverage with the brake and the brake should hold stronger (say you were on the edge of wall and your brake sometimes slips it will hold better and shouldn't slip anymore.) Also you could have helped a bit more by saying what lever you have. If you use a Magura hs33 you can twist the red twisty bit (the tpa) to the right this will stop the lever coming back as far as it pushes one of the pistons closer to the rim, if you use a Magura hs11 you can stop the lever coming back as far by turning the little Allen key bolt inside the lever body to the right which is the same as tightening a tpa on a Magura hs33, if you use v brakes or a mechanical disk you can stop the lever coming back as far by turning the metal twisty thing towards you and finally a hydraulic disk brake if you use one of them to stop the lever coming back as far on the lever there should be a cap take that off and turn the little Allen key bolt to the right. Cheers Lawrence. -
I just sold my onza t-vee frame, wheels, cranks and forks to one of my friends and swapped the stem and handle bars for a spare 19" onza rim just incase i brake my t-pro rim and also i still have the v brakes in my house somewhere.

Hello people, My name is lawrence and i am 14 years old but will be 15 in september. I found out about this forum from a older mate a few weeks ago and have been looking at a few topics which i found very helpful to me. I have finally decided to join this site because it seems very useful and also i can help others. I ride a standard onza t-pro 2005 edition which i brought second hand off of ebay about 2 to 3 months ago for £243 not including postage and packing. My first trials bike was the onza t-vee which was a good bike and did its job well. I started trials biking last september, the reason i started it was because i used to ride bmx and i always used to see few older people hopping off stuff and getting up stuff on their bikes and it looked good so i decided to start it. I will try to give good information, will be specific and do my best i can. Thanks lawrence.
