Only thing is single speed freewheels like to keep the chain on better than a multi speed freewheel... So if the chain and freewheel are knackered it will be more likely to skip n stuff.

He's right about gears are for queers. But they don't just break. Shit stuff breaks. Just get an old geared road bike, take the multi freewheel off and all the gearing, slap a cheap acs on the thread, make the chain the right length and pull it back in the drop out (make sure it's not a vertical dropout) and bobs your uncle. But to answer your question better, you won't pick up a cheap fixie. Don't buy a unipack 'imported courier bike' or a 'create' because they are the same thing, and both WILL attempt to kill you more times than you can count.

Sintered has bits of metal like stuff in it, which makes it bite a bit more? Resin specific discs do exist i believe... IE, shimano deore discs generally come with writing on them saying 'use resin pad only' n stuff. This is the stuff that confuses me, i keep getting terms mixed up. EDIT: Yep, sintered statement is true, not 100% about the resin but some discs like the deore ones do prefer resin pads...

Your problem is you have bought resin pads, designed for a resin specific disc. They're a different compound and work badly on normal discs. You need to buy sintered or organic replacements. Sintered has more bite but will wear down quicker (only a small difference)
