Haha, this is exactly the type of topic I love reading on TF. I love how many TFers have very strong passion about subjects they know little about and don't even understand. In fact I especially love those who think that because they googled and got a page up that said cows cry when they are slaughtered or some bullshit they suddenly think they are an eco-warrior on a mission to save the planet armed with a pen, a sheet of paper and enough ill-informed knowledge to fill a cesspit lorry. Yeah I thought as much, It would be nice to host my own videos though, small ones mind you! Am I right in assuming if it's, for example, a 10mb video; everytime somebody downloads it that's 10mb of bandwidth used up?

I'm not sure you needed to quote my post though I've had a look around and I've found what seems like some decent/cheap hosting options BUT I have absolutely no idea what type of bandwidth I should be looking at..? I've found one that is £45 per annum incl. 2GB disk space, 20gb transfer, cPanel, Fantastico, shared SSL, PHP4 + PHP5 Here's a link to the comapny.. Click. I'm thinking along the lines of hosting my images on photobucket, using youtube for videos and the just hosting the text myself? So I'm not likely to exceed the 20gb a month on text alone. I mean I don't have that many friends/family! Does this seem a good option to you? Or any other people that may be able to offer advice?

Ok if I'm totally honest I'm not really sure what it is I'm trying to say! hehe, good start! Basically I want to start a blog, primarily to document my upcoming trip around australia so my friends and family can keep up to date with me. But when that's all over I hop to go on lots of little adventures around the world and keep writing and updating again for friends and family. And if i'm not travellig and just back at home I want to be able to write about things that matter to me. Really, this all sounds very egotistical.. it's not. Really it's just an excuse to exercise mind and try to be a little more creative. SO, you have the background. As I'm a tart and I dont like things that look free and cheapy I dont want an URL such as sam1569.blogger.com or whatever. So, I'm going to have 'proper' URL.. www.something.co.uk I can't seem to find out how much space [mb/gb] of webspace/bandwidth you get.. And really I want to be able to upload videos/images and text. sooo, would I be better off to just get myself a domain and some hosting and do it all myself? This might not be the best option because I have very limited html coding experience. Am I able to simply sign up for blogger and then host my blog on my own domain? I really dont understand any of it!!!!
