*revolutionary What makes you think the military aren't already using this technology? Is it because it hasn't been on the news? http://www.rapidonline.com/Education/Strength-of-Electromagnet-06-0592/?source=googleps&utm_source=googleps&gclid=CIuv2cGj-7wCFYQfwwodgm4AEg That's a battery operated electromagnet that runs off a 9V battery and can lift 150kgs

What proof? So far all you have is the fact that there are no wide shots? You're basing your dismissal of the HUVr board purely on the video editors choice of shots? As far as I can tell there is far more evidence supporting it that disputing it. If they were going to go to all this effort for a hoax, why wouldn't they just wait a month and do it on April 1st?

It's got two circular pads connected to a magforce charger which creates a magnetic field. This acts at the same polarity as the earths magnetic field, thus repelling the boarder. It's pretty simple really.

Like I said, if you're not clued up on the science then that's cool, but lets keep this on topic please.
-
People always doubt what they don't understand. Loads of people are arguing about whether they are real or not, they clearly are - the science is legit. This isn't a discussion about whether or not you understand how they work, it's a discussion about their impact and influence on the world as we know it.

Very very cool video, nice work man!!

Now that the technology has finally been cracked and they're ready to push forwards with mainstream production what are your thoughts on the effect the new HUVr boards are going to have on extreme sports, skateparks, the videos we'll all be watching.. Will this technology translate to riding? Do you think it'll be an expensive fad that comes and goes or will we one day see a skatepark filled with HUVr boards and HUVr bikes? With the elimination of rolling friction are people going to be going bigger and further than ever before? Can you grind a HUVr board without causing damage? Possibly not, this is something that could be a real deciding factor on its future as a replacement to skateboards. I guess you're never gonna stop dead on a bit of gravel, so that's something. The future is now! http://huvrtech.com

LONDON - Ozonys Street Meet - 15th March
Sam Nichols replied to Jake.'s topic in Member Organised Rides
It's so generous of Ozonys to allow me to ride Southbank for free. -
I never even considered luxury fabrics like that! That would be so comfortable, I'd never want to take it off.

Twenty Six refers to my age and not wheel size by the way.

Some kind of cloth, cotton would be a nice choice but I guess synthetic polyesters are used in cheaper ones.

Some filming in Bristol on my birthday and some random clips from London. http://eightypsi.com/

Phoenix Riders Company: Video Challenge. Update 23rd
Sam Nichols replied to Paperclip's topic in Videos
My team mate bailed, I was going to try film a solo one but obviously that would eliminate me from the comp anyway because the whole point of it is to do it in pairs. So I've pretty much given up. I'll have a Bristol edit out in a couple of days though, so that's something I guess. -

I think it's f**king disgraceful that you haven't produced a Clean DVD yet. It's an outrage.

Apple green looks pretty rad, if I do say so myself...

Are you talking purely aesthetics or do you mean you want your spacers to be in contact with your rear cog close to the teeth for support? Because if it's the latter then don't worry, your rear cog won't bend, it doesn't need extra support.
-
Clearly not.

And this made you happy?

Yeah, loads and loads of the guys didn't make it. The thing is, not everyone goes for the licence as well as the degree, so none of these guys will actually be working on 'aircrafts [sic]', I'm actually not sure what they'll be doing. They wouldn't pass an interview. Out of 25 guys that were on my B1 licence course, about 5 have jobs in the indsutry, there's 4 of us on the top-up. The other 16 collect their wages fortnightly I think. This is the top-up to an Aircraft Engineering degree so they haven't neccersarily done the B1 course to get here. At the end of the day, universities are just businesses and they don't actually sit you down and say - 'look mate, you're really not cut out for this industry, you're medically retarded, please leave'. As far as the uni is concerned, as long as you pay your fees, who cares? Also, if you don't bother to turn up for lectures, that's like a bonus!

Dude, I can totally relate to this. I'm in a group of eight for my final year group project. Three of the guys have English as their second language and I wouldn't exactly call them fluent, one of these speaks just about enough English to get by. Three of the guys talk-the-talk but rarely bother to turn up (they always have excuses...). That leaves two of us who actually understand what's going on, turn up and do the work. We had to submit a planning report for our project several weeks back and we discussed every inch the report in depth, then assigned the different areas for different members to complete. We set a deadline of a week before hand-in to give me time to proof read and collate all the data (I'm the project manager). The three talk-the-talk guys all handed their work in to me on the day of hand in and most of it was utter utter bollocks. I actually had to go to my supervisor and show him the work that was submitted and ask if this is the students usual standard of work or if he had learning difficulties. I'm going to find the original copy of the introduction and post it here for you to read, it might make you feel better!
