Does Riding Make You Happy, Or Does Being Good At Riding Make You Happ
aener replied to Matt Vandart's topic in Trials Chat
If you're trying to determine the answer "Street trials is all about the fun, and trials trials is more about trying to be better than others," or the vice versa, it won't work with this poll. You have no way of determining if the people who answer "riding makes me happy" are the SAME people that answered "my bike has a seat". If I've totally mis-read this and that's utterly unrelated to what you want to know, then just ignore me - that's just how I read it Also gotta agree with Dan. I enjoy being out on the bike regardless, but get grumpy when I can't do stuff on one day that is normally easy. Doing something you know has raised my personal best is when I enjoy riding the most - but I still enjoy riding if I'm only doing 50% effort lines/moves. -

It might not be the next video, but if it's not then probably the one after. I've fancied the idea for a while, but 24:2011 has renewed the vigor for the idea. I want to make a "big" video. I love sitting back and watching a BMX DVD, and feel sad that there aren't many of these sort of videos for my preferred sport. 24:2011, Manifesto, the WheresTheSeat series... There's a bunch of really good ones - but I want there to be more! Obviously an hour long one like the pro's make is a bit ambitious, but hell... Ambition is good It'll be a lot of effort, so I want it to be something you guys will enjoy, thus I'd appreciate it if you could answer the questions above to give me an idea of what most would prefer before I even start. Any other ideas/suggestions, tips or anything you'd like to see in a project like this would be most appreciated. It's not something I'm hoping to make money from - just in case you got that idea. Just for fun - but I'd like the outcome to be something worthwhile. Thanks! Don't wait up though. It'll be a fair while in the making what with fitting it around uni.

That was pure excellence. Haha.

Excellent! That's really good. I'm glad you're putting so much thought in to your employability and future, there's far too many people (myself included) who just don't have a clue what they want to do and end up having a degree but putting it to no use. And EXTRA kudos for recognizing you need extra help and acting upon it. If you put even a fraction of that amount of thought in to your presence on this forum - and the rest of the internet for that matter - you'd have a LOT less problems, and would be generally better respected. It's like properly referencing your sources. You don't want to do it, but if you don't, no-one reading that work will take it seriously.

Really? A BA in Music Tech? Which Uni? I'm at the Headingly Campus of Leeds Met doing the same thing, but mine's a BSc and I'm in the third year. Just a bit of friendly advice - they don't really care what you hand in for the first year, so that doesn't matter - but from now on, if you hand in a piece of writing that in any way, shape or form resembles how you write on here, you WILL fail. Seriously, if you're doing a degree - and especially if you've gotten past the first year - you should have at least a little respect for the English language (or any other for that matter, but seeing as you're attending an English campus, that's all we'll bring in to question), and have a basic understanding of how well structured writing is a far more efficient method of conveying your ideas and persuading people to go along with them than merely capitalizing the "important" words, and adding approximately one threat per exclamation mark. If you really struggle with sentence structure, grammar, punctuation etc. then it's a different story and you should indeed seek extra help, but you are clearly not even trying. I believe the aforementioned night classes suggested to you are in basic written English, though I'm sure you've worked that out by now seeing as you're smart enough to be doing a BA - and indeed have already passed the first year.

You sure that's not the M6?

You'd go back to being unsure because ONE person said they had a bad experience? What about the 10+ people that have said if you get Urbans you'll be disappointed? Put it this way. When someone breaks a set of Urbans, they'll be a bit miffed, maybe complain to their friends and then buy some new forks. When someone breaks a set of Trialtechs, (unless they're sponsored by them and have to keep schtum) you get pictures and in depth descriptions on the forum, and everyone's interested and has an opinion. I can't put this any simpler, so I'll make it much bigger and bright red in the hope that has a similar effect: GET THE TRIALTECHS. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

I feel sad that you're this good and no-one's ever seen fit to tell you that that up-to-wodge you did in Castle Park is actually a drop gap. Sorry - you did it wrong. Please fix it for the next video. Also - you need to look like you're putting some effort in when going that big. Doesn't count if you don't look like you're trying. ...I think I have a new favourite rider. Oh my GOD.

I hate that that's the image we, as a nation, give off Not at all inaccurate though, if you take an average of all the videos from England

That was... not really "interesting" as such, but I enjoyed watching it 180 endo up-to-back line was sublime. I really like Hope parts. Their hubs and brakes... Just so damn reliable. I wish they made a freewheel! (Nudge nudge.)
-
As do 75% of other stock riders Haha. I loved my Lite, too. The new Echo range really is lovely - but I wish he still maintained that "fit for bashers" attitude he used to have. I'm by no means a hater of light bikes - don't get me wrong. I'd just prefer it if a frame costing £300 lasted a little longer, especially when the brand's reputation is one of sturdy parts. Rather have it slightly heavier but much stronger. Geometries are awesome though. Edit: I think I've just said the same thing in three different ways in one post :/ Never mind.

Awesome. Control was amazing, but damn your bars look uncomfortable!
-
At the expense of being six miles long I agree though. Deng: Bring back your meaty, indestructible frames, but keep your newer geometries.

Yay! I realize this next sentence is highly hypocritical, but it seems in this case you do indeed have to fight fire with fire: Please stop posting in this thread. If you post in it, you bump it. If you bump it, more people will post in it. If more people post in it, it'll be here forever. Let it die out and take it's natural course to the archives. -
I swear you're cheating. Your gaps... It looks as if, just before setting off, you switch in to zero-gravity mode and just push forwards. Floatyfloatyfloat. Awesome

Seriously? You've ridden with me... how many time? I can't believe you feel the need to ask that. I thought I'd been plugging them pretty hard ever since I met you. Get the Trialtechs. They are without even a hint of a doubt even being a distant relative of the neighbor of the fact that Trialtech forks are the best. I had a set of Urbans, a set of Lites, Koxx Forxx and two other sets (can't remember what they were), all in one year. The Trialtechs have now lasted 18 months. Got quite a lot of gouges taken out of them, and you know full well I'm pretty rough on gear - still perfectly happy, and still dead stiff. I repeat: get the Trialtechs.

Prize couldn't've gone to anyone else without making a mockery of the whole thing, in my opinion. ...Apart from Ben Travis, for sheer dedication Good event to watch, shame about the weather though. I'd quite like it if there was a parallel event running that were the Streetlight TGS/Tech sessions to accommodate the more "trialsy" trials riders. It was pretty much just ramps... I know it's a Danny Mac event and all that, but say Tunnicliffe or someone got backing from Monster/Relentless to do one representing the other side of trials. Wasn't very much there for people without a seat (excluding Jack Meek). It's not really a problem, but I couldn't help feeling that it gave over the impression to the newbies that trials IS Inspired. Kind of a misrepresentation when thinking of statistics. Street trials riders are the minority compared with "trials" trials riders. Also, the MC seemed to be saying that if you didn't ride an Inspired you're a comp rider. And Jeez - stop saying "skatepark rules". We get it!

The RockNRollBikes.com logo at the start is a bit of a giveaway, isn't it?

Lies! I've been running a 32h Trialtech 24" rim on a 36h ProII for almost two years (ridden as trials for one year, and then as a get around bike for the other). It's fine. Miss out 12 and 6 o'clock on one side, and 3 and 9 o'clock on the other. Hasn't caused me any issue.

Both are very nice since they are very similar in geometry. I'd say the decision is simple... if you're struggling for cash, get the Blade. If you've got money to spare, and/or want; 1) That extra bit of reassurance in strength, 2) Ever-so-slightly nicer for TGSish riding, or 3) What I personally think is a nicer looking bike, get the Echo. NB: When I say "a bit extra strength", it's not as if the Blades are made of papier maché. They're reasonably reliable - the Echo is just a little more so*. I'd say I preferred the Echo, ridewise - but that's most likely 'cause it was mine and what I was used to, rather then pilfering a go on someone else's Blade every now and then. *Brakeless excluded.

I've seen pictures of this before, but never any history. Was it just a prototype, or did it ever actually go on sale?
-
These clips are mostly obsolete now. Started collecting them about three months ago, and broken bikes made for a lengthy process. Then I started uni, so it got put off even more. The rate at which he's progressing can only rightfully be described as "scary", so this isn't really a fair impression of his current level.

Must admit, that really didn't float my boat.
