  1. I wouldn't say I'm a bookworm, but I do like stories If you're in to the fantasy as your title-dropping suggests, The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. (And anything else by him. Favourite writer, at the minute.) It's written for people a bit younger (probably the 14-17 range), but I mostly read for the story rather than the style of writing - and the story is absolutely brilliant. Trudi Canavan is worth a look too, as is Terry Pratchett. Never gave him a chance before, but picked some up last week* and they're good fun if you're looking for something you don't have to commit to as much. I tend to read one "serious" book/series, then a couple of Discworld's just so I don't get bogged under I hear Robin Hobb's is a good way to go - though I've not tried them out yet. Iain M. Banks' Culture novels if you fancy some sci-fi/space opera instead. If you want a fairly serious commitment, get The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archives vol.I), also by Sanderson. Seriously good, but pretty chunky, and you'll be left gagging for more since it's not yet got it's sequel. *Edit: No idea why I wrote "last week". I definitely meant "a few months ago" .
  2. ...But it was also my favourite clip in the whole thing. SO slick.

    Moos I K

That was cool. Looks like a great spot - but would be so much greater with a concrete floor
  4. Gonna be fuuuuuuun. Looking forward to it already
  5. That is EXACTLY what I said to Carl f**king amateurs them lot.
  6. Nice riding. Nicer video. The lack of sound really sucked me in to it.

    Marino Mod

Just in case Also - if I ever want to sell it, a brakeless mod would be pretty difficult to get rid of.

    Marino Mod

And about time too. It's been an agonizing six week wait, but she's finally here, and my GOD does she ride nice! Sorry for the not-so-great pictures. Phone isn't good, to say the least. Been at Stoke Plaza for the first ride today, and as far as streety riding is concerned, she's amazing. I can finally bunnyhop! Not sure on TGS yet - but got a fairly strong idea she'll enjoy that too Spec: Frame: Marino - 1010, 350, +70, 71*, 4130 cromoly. 2kg, for those that care. Forks: Trialtech. Bars: Rockman (the 14* sweep version). Stem: TryAll (~170x35 - unsure of model). Front Wheel: Echo TR hub, Trialtech square-holed rim, Kenda K-Rad tyre. Rear Wheel: Oldschool Echo Hub, Monty rim, Maxxis Creepy Crawler tyre. Cranks: Trialtech. Pedals: Superstar Components. BB: Onza. Freewheel: Tensile 96. Bashring: Trialtech Ti Halfring. Chain: KMC 510x Grips: Trialtech Skinnies. Headset: FSA Pig Pro DH. Tubes: Wilko's. Soooooooooooooooooooo happy right now. Finally, a bike that I like, that should be strong enough to hack brakeless Edit: I know everyone says it - but damn... The pictures really suck at the look of the frame. It's raw but lacquered, and the heatstains are lush.
  9. Nor do I, but from experience, it is. I used to have the rise in line with the rise of the stem when I had brakes, and loved it. I took them off, and rolled them back just a tiny bit, so that... y'know how they taper inwards from the 31.8 to the 21.7... the bottom edge of the taper continued the angle of the stem. After a bit, I spoke to you Wanted to bunnyhop and manual etc better, so I rolled them back until the rise is vertical. Perpendicular to the floor, that is, not parallel with the headtube. It got better for most things, but my gaps took a lull and sidehops we a fair bit more effort. Got used to it now and am about back on track... I don't understand why - it makes little sense - but I do find that backsweep is not great for TGS.
  10. Awesome. I'd like to give a more comprehensive response - but I can't think of anything to say. Everything good was great, and there was nothing bad.
  11. I'm sure I wouldn't - since in real life I'm somewhat of a girl. Ask anyone who knows me. I'm a f**king chicken. I cringe and squirm when I run through amber lights that just turned red, I've never actually been in fight, and I don't like horror movies because they give me nightmares. That doesn't mean - however - that when I feel like I stand some form of a chance, I'm going to let you ruin what I love. I guess this I'm am massive hypocrite, since the above information effectively makes me a keyboard warrior, but I have been informed by respectable members of the community that my feelings are shared by the masses - so I feel a little justified in that.
  12. "pro·fes·sion·al/prəˈfeSHənl/ Adjective: Of, relating to, or connected with a profession. Noun: A person engaged or qualified in a profession." "pro·fes·sion/prəˈfeSHən/ Noun: A paid occupation, esp. one that involves prolonged training and a formal qualification. A body of people engaged in a particular profession" I don't know if - technically a "profession" is your living, or if you just get >£0.01 for it though.
  13. Andy... What the f**k is your problem? Just this evening on the way home from Birmingham I mentioned to Carl that you (along with others) seem to have been very - if not overly- helpful, and doing a lot of sucking up to forum members since the super argument a while back. I thought you'd realized what a dick you'd been, and were trying to make up for it. Now you do this. Just stop it man. It's embarrassing. Other people have already explained the issue extensively, but you seem fairly adept at not replying to their posts, so I'm guessing you simply don't understand. You're a music student - and by the sound of it, a studio based one. I'll try putting it in to your own vernacular in the hope that it'll let you see the problem. It's like this: One day, you get a little money for doing a recording of some girl with a guitar in your bedroom. More of the same for a long time, then you set up shop and have a small, basic studio. You start getting enough money to make a sort of living. Stick with it for a long time, using whatever scraps of profit you get to enhance the business. Maybe an outboard compressor, or a ProTools HD rig when you get a bit more. Finally - after years of enduring the shit life has flung at you trying to give a good service to people who mostly want to rip you off, you break in to mainstream. Life is good! You get all that gear you've wanted for years but couldn't afford, and a good reputation to go with it. One day, you decide you need a flagship record. You go and buy a set Neumann mic's for sheer authenticity, just so when people ask what service you provide, you can show them the very best. You pay an agent to find you a really great underground band, and offer to record them for free, or a heavily reduced price (cutting your profits like mad) if they'll let you show the record off for advertisement purposes. They jump at the deal, so you record them, and everyone goes mad for the record. Then - some f**ker of a 14 year old guitarist with rich parents books a session in your studio, and goes in with a memory stick and steals a bunch your master tracks. He changes them a tiny bit - if at all - puts them all together and releases it under his own moniker. Is this ringing home yet? This guy who likes the idea of running a studio, or a label, but can't be arsed to go about doing it properly is using materials YOU paid for, and YOU spent YOUR time slaving over, getting it just right to attract as much custom for YOUR company as possible - and some tosser's just stolen it and is telling all the innocents who don't know you even exist that it's his own produce. I don't think you will, seeing as you've already been taken up on it - but if you want to know why I'm spending such a long time writing this out and not out riding, it's because - like most people no doubt - I'm replying to this AFTER riding. Riding is what I do. It dictates most of the things I do with my life. It's why I had a job, it's why I got a car, it played a role in choosing which uni I went to. It's how I met my best friends, it's the reason I'm distant from my family, and it's why arrogant little twats like you make me so angry. I'm sure this applies to many of the above - I'm not saying I'm special - but I don't know any of them well if at all, so can't comment. Trials is SUCH a small sport. The fact that we still manage to argue amongst ourselves so violently can only be bad for our reputation, and it's YOU (collectively) that initiates it. This sport is important enough to me that I don't want outsiders to have a negative view on it - which people like yourself invariably generate. THAT is why I spent all this time writing this out. If it persuades you to stop being such a f**king tool, I'll have done something positive for my passion. ...The polar opposite of you. Cunt.

  15. No. Not in your state of mind. It only really makes a difference with the opposite mindset. I mean - sure - if you got a lighter bike you might be able to hop a bit higher, but not THAT much, if you're already used to a heavy bike. If you're used to a light bike, you notice the difference a lot more. You can't ride nearly as well on a heavy bike as you normally can. Obviously the super-comp boys will do anything for that extra inch in the same way F1 teams go to extreme lengths to shave a tenth of a second and so they have the crazy light, super fragile bikes. Personally - I think if you can be happy with a heavy bike (like you or Danny Mac) then it's great. Parts are cheaper, and will last longer before breaking. A lighter bike might increase your riding ability by a small percentage, but not relative to the percentage increase on the price tag. If you've had a light bike, and go back to a heavy bike, the difference feels pretty nasty, and you have to put in the extra effort to be able to lug a big old thing around in the same way. Short answer: Meh. A light bike is nice, but it's by no means essential unless you're at the very top of the field. ...And not having one will likely save you a fair bit of money
  16. This is perhaps the proudest moment of my life. Thank you. Edit: Have rep for every post you made in this thread.
  17. The rise on those bars just looks insane on a mod! Just about got used to them on stocks and 24s, but they seem enormous I also really wanted one when I first started riding, but I doubt I'd enjoy them now I've been lured in to the dark, dismal world of high BB.

Did you even read the post you quoted?
  19. Ah - yeah. Fair shout. I forgot they made them - just 6x9s are so much more common I guess.
  20. Just the one little clip, but damn... No brakes...

I really want to come across something like this that's real. I want to go on a quest. So bad.

Precisely. That comment was not exclusive to this thread. It was more the sum of repeatedly screwing people around. Everyone has bad times... There might be an instance where they agree to sell something and then fate takes a shit on their personal life which has a knock on effect with the sale... But if that happens, they first of all have a valid excuse, and they don't let it happen again. I've seen three dispute threads with your name on, and there's no doubt others I missed.

I might've only just come in to the thread, but I read the whole of it, so what's the matter? I was just hoping you'd been lying up 'til now and had slipped up. I really f**king hate people with the attitude you're displaying. You're the ones that make honest people worry about buying second hand from this forum. Nearly everyone here is fine, but there's the select few - such as your asshole self - that make it difficult to trust anyone.

Does that mean you've NOT posted them yet then?
