I ran splined hubs/sprockets for a long time with zero issues. From my experience, they're just as reliable as each other, though the splined flavour has the benefit of not having threads to strip, and being MUCH easier to remove.

That was Coca-Cola's decision to start making it available here again, because it originally was, got taken away and the public demanded it's return. It was not a supermarket going to great lengths to import cereal Also - how dare you imply that Vanilla Coke is "bumf"! Haha.

Screw starting to stock American bumf. They need to RE-stock Soreen's Apple and Sultana Malt Loaf

At the very start - mainly going off the title - I expected this thread to become a shit-storm. I was pleasantly surprised by TF when several people actually offered insightful opinions and took note of other peoples'. It took a massive dive on page three when one or two people began assiduously detailing how much they dislike brakeless riding (which is irrelevant to the topic) and a couple others got [perhaps overly] defensive. It's kept declining ever since then, and it reached an all time low when people start claiming it's not trials (even more irrelevant). For the record: if you don't want to classify brakeless as a part of trials, I personally couldn't care less. Call it what you want - it's a form of entertainment for which I don't feel labels matter all that much. I understand that some brakeless riders will object to being so heavy-handedly dismissed and excluded, and resent being rejected just because they enjoy riding a little differently, but I feel it just doesn't matter since I know it's only a few extremists that seem bothered - and typically they're people who's opinions I couldn't give much of a shit about if I tried. I'd refer to it as a subsection of trials as the majority of the riding has more in common with trials than anything else, but if you don't want to, then don't. I'm also fine with it if you don't want to even consider it a sport because there's no competitive aspect (aside friendly rivalry) for the same reasons as above. The fact is, people who are attracted to brakeless riding tend to be less inclined to subscribe to the competitive mindset, and seem to just want to ride in the way they find fun rather than riding in accordance to rules and being the best at it. (N.B. I'm in no way saying enjoying that type of riding is a bad thing - just that it usually is poles apart from the ethos of people who enjoy brakeless.) To whoever it was that mentioned my missing tooth: almost. It's technically not missing It's gone dark because it's dead, though that's because a delightful example of humanity considered smashing me in the face with a skateboard when I was younger a form of entertainment. It's not even a little bit related to riding brakeless. Finally, thanks to the several people that have paid me compliment in here. Makes for a good feeling on a dreary Monday morning! tl;dr - calm down, no-one cares

But then he's got the low bar/stem combo to compensate, so what's the problem? From the build, it hardly looks as if he's going to be worried about ground clearance How does it handle the more hoppy end of the trials spectrum? It looks as if it might make it really difficult, but then looks are usually wrong! (Though it looks very nice That's one instance where they're not wrong.)

I dunno. I couldn't get the hang of doing it with my back foot whilst staying on the pedals like he does. I tried some one my old Leeson and found jabbing a foot between the stays/saddle/seat got it to lock up. Can't pinch hard enough any other way :/

Just so you know, lawn-mowering is f**king difficult without a seat to wedge beneath - and this is speaking from experience only on walls, never mind rails

Can't see likes or my likes or people's likes

Dan's so small in physical size that he often unwittingly bigs things up too much I'd wager no mods/admins have replied since they intentionally removed the "like" thing to stop people making outrageous posts with the sole intent of receiving them. Now if you get one, it's them giving a you a quiet nod of approval/support, rather than publicly praising you for it. They've also been mentioned in a lot of arguments, insinuating "TF gangs" are supporting each other with likes etc. I think it's a good thing they're gone, maybe. -

Actually, no-one did (unless the notifications have gone wrong/been disabled too) -
Got the seals, just waiting on the oil and then the fun/massacre can commence.

Soak it in a bucket of super-dense ferrofluid for three days, and then when it's fully saturated you can extract it easily by blasting it with strong electro/magnetic field. You'll need to restrain the lever in a clamp or something though, as the magnet will attract the bolt it's stuck in too.

Would love Manifesto Pt.2! Love videos where he does riding, rather than the other recent ones in which he talks about riding. Hook-to-front-over was cool! Edit: Snaked
-
You've gone from being good at riding to being insanely good at riding in a very short space of time. That front gap at the Red Walls in Leeds... I've only ever seen Prattley do that! Beastin'.
-
It is a re-post, but when he's that good, who gives a damn? He also detailed why he runs that brake setup somewhere, can't remember where though. Something along the lines of liking the modulation and feel of rear disc on uneven surfaces, but a front disc not being snappy enough for those absurdly large front-gaps.

I know this might seem petty, and I'm no way whatsoever claiming that it wasn't cool as f**k, but it's a touchy subject for me: [Edit: It's touchy 'cause I've been trying really hard for a long time, and just cannot do them ] That was a stoppie (/whatever your region calls them). $nosemanuals('difficulty') = $stoppie('difficulty') * ~∞; Very cool watch! Only room for improvement would be if it had been called "Six" with more of him back on a trials bike

I disagree. I personally had to have two jobs (one before lectures began, the other in and around free time) because the maximum loan per year I could apply for was £300 less than my accommodation per year. JUST accommodation. I still needed food/living money on top of that. ...And it wasn't particularly expensive accommodation. Some people do manage to get the best out of the system though. I guess my parents make just the wrong amount of money Can I ask why you're running a plate in stead of a ring? I can't see any advantages to a plate, and am constantly baffled as to why they're even around any more - much less on the super high end frames.
-
If it makes a difference in our frames, it's marginal. The frame I've been riding for the past few months has a curved one too, and that's still fine. So does pretty much every Onza of the moment that's not a Limey 4, and when they die it's vary rarely the downtube. So do most Montys. So do the new Koxx frames. Theoretically, you're right, I think it's purely academic. Don't think we put enough force in for it to matter.

Just saying it again to reinforce how valid an answer it is: find out for yourself. I ride with Josh, and he runs (in my opinion) dangerously soft tyres. They practically fall off the rim if you turn a corner a little too quickly. I hate them, but that's what he likes and where some of his bounce comes from. I personally find that (due to whatever quirks my technique has) soft tyres absorb more force than they return, like soft suspension when travelling along flat ground. I run my tyres reasonably firm so I get a more direct transfer of power. Harder tyres also let you roll faster, for longer, and carve more aggressively if that's something that bothers you. A safe bet is to put them at around 25psi and ride it. When you find something you can't get up, let a little air out. It works for most people. If it doesn't work for you, put a little more in. It's a sucky answer, but you really do just have to find out for yourself. No-one can tell you what you like. (But start with 25ish as I'd wager it's pretty much the average of the range of pressures people run, so not a bad place to start.)

Cheers guys, that's very reassuring. I'll get a set ordered.
-
This is exactly the case, so I'll try it first (and hopefully last).Thank you.

I wanted very much for these to work out, but it seems my expectations are more realistic than my hopes Have to wonder at Deng's testing procedures (if there are any). What went wrong?! Why start trying to compete with Koxx when you have such a large share of the market already (back when he made the trademark strong-Deng parts)?

I used to really rate Onza Citrus Greens with a soft-pad grind. Think they were about 40 grit. Did it as they were quite soft, but it rained a lot. Turned out real good!

So - I'll take them apart and have a look. If Dez's diagnosis is right, I'll just get some new forks. If he's not, from what my uneducated self can gather, it's probably just these that need replacing? (Are these what people call the "top seals" or the "main seals", or are they the same thing?) Obviously with oil changes etc. Are there any giveaway signs to look out for that it's something else? (Or is it super obvious - like the o-rings will have tears in them or something?) Thanks, I know it must be painful trying to explain intricate systems to someone who's never even looked at them Edit: Searching for seal kits, the only packs that come up are ones like these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fox-Forx-Fork-SKF-32mm-Low-Friction-Seal-Kit-803-00-613-Talas-Van-Float-/160836572746?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Cycling_BikeLocks_SR&hash=item25729b564a Would this do it? It's this area that the oil's coming out of, but I didn't know if that might be because too much is flooding in from elsewhere in the leg. Also - is suspension fluid suspension fluid, or do different forks need different types? From what I've read, any 10wt fluid is Ok, but thought I'd check. (Coming from a background of Dot5 destroys Magura o-rings... don't wanna do something akin to that.) Thanks again.

Bunch of places... Leicester, Hinckley, London, Birmingham, Sheffield and Milton Keynes. Thanks everyone! I feel good about this video
