  1. Yes, I most definitely did take it to heart, because it's people like you saying things like this that is rending trials. There's the whole "bigger picture" scenario to consider that is much more pertinent, but even if you entirely remove that from the equation and go for pure, simple selfishness, it makes it very difficult for riders like me that like to do a bit of everything to enjoy riding to the fullest. You tell the "big BMXers" that "they're not trials", which they may or may not care about but understandably resent the baseless rejection so don't want to ride with you, so people in the middle have to ride with one side or the other. Very rarely do you get to ride with both, or other people that equally enjoy doing manually spin lines as sessioning a sidehop wall. In fact, I think I can count the number of riders I've met like that on one hand. I know several "big BMXers" that are quite offended when they're told that they can't be a part of your secret little club called "trials", and others that acknowledge that the last time they did a sidehop was 2008 and couldn't care less if they ride what you consider to be "trials" or not. Personally, I'm one of the latter. I couldn't give two hoots if you think I deserve to reside in the "trials" domain or not, but I despise watching the loud-fingered's warmongering.
  2. Well that shouldn't be too much of an issue in that most of those "big BMXs" have Avids, Hopes or Shimanos, don't they? Many BMXers have brakes closer to a Magura than "big BMXs" - some even use Heatsinks! Seriously - just lay this "argument" to rest. It's boring and gets no-one anywhere. Yes, I put pointedly put the word "argument" in inverted commas. Take note of that. Now - I'll go ride my BMX, you go ride your unicycle and lets try to forget this unpleasantness.
  3. Thanks for all your kind words everyone. They make me feel very warm.
  4. This frame is the one I rode throughout my most recent video, and am still riding. The tramp-bike was the old Marino.
  5. Thanks guys! Forgot about this thread. Frame is still good - thought it was cracked but then when I stripped the paint off to weld it up it appears it was just a paint crack. Going to make a new one with thinner tubing soon to see if I can get the weight down a bit. Made this one with longevity in mind, not weight Adam has a little hobby MIG welder that I used, and the jig was just a length of 20mm box section with holes drilled in strategic places
  6. He did it a long time before the fixie, and still does it now having moved on from it. It'll come in handy every so often if you ride very technical places or competitions. Ben Slinger is very good at riding wrong footed to get out of sticky situations. If you just ride street then it won't really help you with anything to be honest, other than earning peoples' respect when you can ride with either foot forward!
  7. Apparently, you know me too well. That's exactly what it was, until I clicked "Post" and saw you'd already provided the name of the song after the one he asked for
  8. Baths - "f**king Snake"
  9. Really enjoyed what he had to say, but MAN is his voice irritating

    These are pretty close: www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=12228
  11. Not quite the same, but I had a similar issue with a Crawler that turned out to just be the tyre. Faffed around with rims before changing tyres as I had spares, but couldn't afford another tyre and it was a huge waste of time, so maybe investigate that first
  12. I'd wager machining costs would be insane enough that no-one would be willing to pay for how expensive they would be. Also - steel pawls would decimate alloy crank arms. You'd need steel inserts (making the whole venture moot) or a steel crank arm, and no-one's going to want that extra weight. It'd be novel, but I don't think there's any real pros whilst there's multiple cons
  13. So much love for the "no nonsense" approach! Absolutely massive! I think it's about time people stopped complaining about bar angle and tights in a thread showcasing someone's riding. I'm not mad keen on it either, but I'm incredibly tired of reading it, and I'd wager he's going to keep doing it regardless as it clearly works for him.
  14. That was cool! I got split off from the main group fairly early on, so it's cool to see everyone had as much fun as we did! Managed to join back up just in time to sneak in the video for one clip - god damn I'm such a media whore Hahaha.
  15. One clip doesn't make me nearly as excited to see a video as something like this. This shows you many, many potential parts of the video, without actually showing you / spoiling anything. I thought it was great, and now am super hyped to see it.
  16. Yeah, fair point. In terms of preference though, disc all the way. I don't manage to contaminate them enough for it to be a real concern for me, so that didn't even enter my mind I'd have the same on the rear - potential contaminiation and all - if I could go longer than 5 minutes without bending a rear rotor
  17. Disc and Magura, but put Jitsie pads in the disc. They make a disc feel as powerful and snappy as a Magura, but you get to enjoy the lush silence and modulation benefits of a disc. It is a bit heavier, but not enough to be worth worrying about.
  18. Yep - some dodgy camera work for sure, but that place looks FUN to ride. Anybody fancy a trip to Russia?
  19. That post was in response to Dan Cox, and the drunkards mentioned in it were those at Radfest. I've no idea if you were included in that group or not. You said you were bringing lots of beer, so I just wanted to point out getting lashed might not be a great idea. That was all.
  20. Not really though. I was just putting it out there. Radfest has always seems a bit of a "lads weekend out" - ride your bikes and get drunk at night. If this year's Tarty Days is anything like last year's (which it seems it will be), it's quite a different vibe and attracts quite different people. The fact he's planning on bringing that much alcohol made me think he might not have been aware of the difference between the events so just thought to mention it. Is that Ok? Even taking kids out of the equation, there are many teens/twenty-somethings who don't enjoy dealing with drunken people being wankers. I know I found it very frustrating - I went to the early Radfests to see people I'd not seen in a long time and get as much riding done as possible. I didn't want to be kept awake by other peoples' "banter", which made me super tired the next day so couldn't ride as much. That's just how that event is though, so whatever. Sorry for trying to make it enjoyable for everyone.
