A good focused response, then I wonder just how many different answers there will be before this thread dies.

I could tap to 90 8'7" on my mod. I switched to 24" 'cause I got bored of being able to do everything.

If it's really that light usage, have you looked into netbooks, instead of a full-on laptop? They're quite low specced, but it doesn't sound like you want a high spec. They're REALLY small, cheap, and cool as f**k. http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=5&c...amp;subcat=2619 A friend of mine has one of these (not in pink ) and they really are good. I'd've gotten one myself - but I use it for music production, so need a better spec. The screens ARE small, but they seem big enough... It's bizzarre. No opticals, though. How much is it needed for movies? Either way - have a look - I think they're really nice.

Measuring Your Big Taps, Gaps And Sidehops
aener replied to Mr Motivator's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
'Cause people lie - even when it's blindingly obvious -
What a refreshing break from all the non-sensical banter, these days Thanks for that. Bear in mind not to rule out 24" straight the way. Most people will say stock, and I'm not saying don't get one - just do some fair research first. I'm taking a HUGE first impression on your posting style, and thinking that you like to be a bit different, and if you don't care either way, you just ARE a bit different If you rode a lot back in the day, you might like to get into the streety* side, and maybe get a 24" - though you might just want a streety 26". That much is your choice really... If you really HAVE turned a new leaf (or about 50 leaves, in this case) and want to get into the TGS**, and bashy*** side of trials, look into a stock. (Again - I'm taking a massive assumption that you'll be about 5'8" upwards. Most people over that size tend to feel cramped on a mod, and it holds them back) www.trashzen.com is your friend. Use and abuse her. She tells you of all the techniques, and is the source around half the forum learned how to ride from. The other half of the forum are the kids with parents who have too much money, and just demand answers of people. Please don't be put off by the forum. The people are much friendlier in person. ePenises are a big deal 'round these parts, apparently Also remember that there is much more to a bike than whether it's a stock, mod or 24". The GEOMETRY of the frame is incredibly important. Expect a LOT of confusion trying to figure it all out. It's impossible not to go through it, when starting out. I don't have time to delve into it at the moment - plus the fact it'd turn this post into more of an essay than it already is - but feel free to add me to MSN (flipp@flowflys.co.uk) for any information Enjoy your stay. Flipp. * Search Danny Macaskill, Chris Akkrigg, or Ryan Leech on youtube. Note that you can ride street - riding in a town - or natural (rocks). Streety riding is a style of riding, aswell as a location. Street type riding involves a lot more innovation, manuals and spins than TGS. ** Search Damon Watson, Neil Tunnicliffe, or CLS (Craig Lee Scott) on youtube. It's a more modern style of riding, in which the three previously named riders are/were exceptionally talented. It is named after the three moves used most commonly in their riding. They are - in most people's opinion - over used, though there are variations and other moves used, aswell. Taps, Gaps and Sidehops (or "sidehops", as the TGS riders tend to refer to them). They can be found on trashzen ***Bashers are basically people who land really heavy - and usually tend towards TGS. I can't think of any really good examples of bashers at the moment, so search for any videos by Bigman. He is the POLAR opposite of a basher

I was out with Ben and Josh from 20:30 to about 01:30. At the start of the ride, there were puddles - at the end, they were iced over. I had a fleece, but got too warm. None of us really felt the cold. Only thing that stopped the ride was that I had college in the morning. If you keep doing stuff, it's all good By the way - pallets that have been damp are DANGEROUS when frosted up

Short notice? What you on about?! Hahahaha.

Enjoyed that. Certainly very different Nice one

OH NO HE DID NOT!

I'm with him (Edit: Bessell - not you) on this one. Make the video - fine - but wait until you've got a clip of you managing it, THEN release it. Just seems like a cry for attention, otherwise.

Don't get me wrong... They're really nice... but £33?
-
My Onza one skips a fair bit, too

Gee Danny... Those jeans sure are riding high, for you. What's wrong? Feeling suddenly self-conscious? [/coax]

Jungle jungle, or D&B jungle?

I've had a miserable life. I can't think of any one thing that makes one year more memorable than any other. It's certainly not this one, though.
-
If you're going down to such small numbers - would it be worth thinking about running old rims, that have taken a lot of grinds? Honest question, by the way.
-
...Just put on some muscle... It's hardly going to save MUCH weight, is it?
-
Amon Tobin. Nothing even comes close, at the minute.

No doubt it'll be more robust... It's a Roland... They're bombproof I'd place most my money on the above, though. Roland samples are always nice (just look at the 808 and 909) If you do get it - fancy letting us know why it's more costly? Quite interested, now.
-
Fair enough... I'm sure it'll suit you more - but just know that the padkontrol can do the just as easily - and you've also got the toys to play with, even if you don't use them. Oh... And er.... One more thing....

With all due respect - that says absolutely nothing. Chris Clark used Cubase for his first 3 albums, but suddenly switched to Nuendo rewired through Reaktor for Turning Dragon. Does this make Cubase worse? Does it bollocks. Each DAW is different. Admittedly some ARE superior in areas, to others - but the inferior ones excede the superiors in their own areas. Obvious example is Reason. I love it to pieces. MAJOR flaw is limited audio support, and no editting. Also no VSTs - which is a bit gay. Now - even ACID can do both of these better than Reason. f**king... ACID man! Does this make Reason shit? No. Press Tab, and you've got something NO other DAW offers. It's the missing link between software and hardware. Then again... Does that function make Reason superior to Logic? Hell no. Take a look at sculpture.... That's just one function of Logic, and makes it worth buying it just for that. Does that make Logic better than Ableton Live? Naaaw. If you want the best out of your DAWs - you gotta rewire 'em together. [/what suddenly turned into a rant ]

Are you looking for playing with sticks, or fingers? The PadKontrol is REALLY f**king swish. Assign the pads to any midi note you want - change between toggle or momentary switches - you can change the velocity curves... loads of nice little features. The XY pad isn't actually a Kaoss Pad - don't let them fool you. It's an XY pad - but you can assign any MIDI CC to each axis. (Pitchbend/mod/aftertouch... Not sure if you're for hardware/software preferance). Being that it's MIDI, it can act as a synth, drums, a sample deck... You can set the XY pad to be a global filter sweep, or channel specific. 2 assignable knobs. For what it does - it's really f**king good. Designed for finger playing - not sticks. True - it doesn't look massively sturdy - hell, it doesn't FEEL sturdy - but I've given mine a good wacking, and it's yet to show any problems. There's the 16 pads - and you can push the "bank" button, and each pad turns into a bank. This means you can have 16 banks of 16 pads. Can change the midi channels, so you can even have specific pads for playing a synth, one for a smapler, and the rest for a drum kit all in one bank. You get 16 of those mother f**kers If you're looking to play with sticks - the Roland units are pretty sweet - though had you looked into the Alesis range? http://www.alesis.com/controlpad There's a "Performance" pad, too - though that's purely for audio. Bit harder to navigate - MIDI is just so much easier to assign new voices to. Just hook it up into whatever sampler FL has. There's a bunch of others out there - but I've got an early morning tomorrow. I'll add you to MSN (assuming your address isn't kept private).

Now I f**king hate trance - but I was curious as to what someone else on TF might be making I was pleasantly surprised. Mix was really tight. Well... Everything was. My only gripe would be that I'd drop the kick's pitch down a bit. That might jsut be me though. I like bass to be bassy I never liked FL... Just seems nasty. No VSTs? Good work
