  1. Ok guys, looks like me and Gilly are still going to head to Herne Bay tomorrow for a little ride, it's not that we don't love you of course, just gonna stay a bit more local and maybe do some filming. This is our last week before we go back to uni so we'll probably hit Dover some time in the summer. Not sure about Friday yet. If anyone wants to meet us in Herne Bay they're still welcome, we'll hang around the clock tower about 11 for a bit. Have a good ride in Dover peeps.
  2. Link didn't work earlier but seems fine again now. Once again I'm blown away by the riding! What a very special boy he is.
  3. Perhaps not a great idea... It needs to be pretty accurate. If you haven't got measuring calipers, most bike shops seems to. You need the inside diameter of the frame seat tube. Or just hope that someone who's got the same frame will tell you on here?

    Park Tyres

Yeah that's very true, like what people have been saying, certain things like trials hops just aren't going to work too well on skate ramps, you have to ride so that you're not trying to get sideways grip against the ramps if that makes sense, using gravity and momentum rather than pushing yourself about? (I may be talking waffle...) Of course that's not to say that everything you've learnt from trials is useless riding park. Keep experimenting! Personally I can't be bothered to change my tyres pressures just because I'm riding skatepark, but mine are usually hard like yours anyway. As long as they're hard enough to spin on and not hit the rims I leave them be.
  5. I disagree. My first trials bike was an Onza T-Raptor (new) discounted to £300, and it was probably the best purchase I've made. Since then I've only upgraded stuff when it's broken and I could never have got a half-decent trials bike in one go otherwise.

    Park Tyres

I love riding skatepark on my trials bike! (on my mountain bike too but that's beside the point) I don't really consider it as trials but it's just so much fun! And I definitely find that stuff you learn in a skatepark is useful for street trials. Don't know nowt about tyres though sorry!
  7. I'm in the process of selling off the stuff that I know I'll never use. I keep stuff if it could be useful, but since I only replace broken stuff I don't get a lot lying about.
  8. Yeah they can but I'd still go for an EX721 myself, they're great.
  9. I don't know about everyone else, but I find if I ride 2 days back to back my body won't thank me. Obviously riding often will keep you fit and build muscles etc but I find I have to have a day off in between otherwise stuff gets sore.

    Gloves?

I see what you mean, but when it gets cold again you might be glad of full fingers if you've still got the same pair. Try foam grips? They don't get sweaty...
  11. Title says it all really. I got the impression that most people who came to Ramsgate today would be coming to this? Anyways all are welcome, see you there.
  12. Yay! Shimano UN54 73 x 127.5! It was on Evans Cycles, about the 50th website I tried... I am pleased. Although today I was riding with a rather special cable tie bodge to keep the broken spacer from falling out
  13. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=689 Granted it's £9 but you can probably find a cheaper one. Honestly, you will get a lot of use out of it and avoid wrecking your BB...
  14. 40 psi. Rolls well, spins well, doesn't hit the rims, and doesn't feel like riding on jelly. Some people like to use really soft tyres to cheat so they can balance and bounce...
  15. I wear some 661 shin and knee ones, they are quite warm for the summer admittedly, especially under jeans... but they have saved me a LOT of times since I got them, knee as well as shin. I had to get them really after I did 2 quite bad shin slits one summer that each prevented me from riding for a few weeks. Nice big scars now.
  16. Yay I've made one. It's the first thing I've done with my new frame, in fact so new that I haven't even managed to fit a seat yet. Unsurprisingly, I wish I could have spent longer filming and editing but never mind! I don't quite trust YouTube cos it seems to put the video and the audio out of sync with each other, spoiling all my editing... I think this one is ok but here's TV.ISG.SI just in case: http://tv.isg.si/site/?q=filebrowser/tommydthatsme --> Tom's curb video.avi and YouPube: Enjoy!
  17. My cranks are fairly ordinary Burns (Pro Trials), I guess it must just be the different frame shape for 26" that's making it tricky. The BB that's in there now looks about 123/124mm (doesn't say on it) and the chainring is really close to the frame, like under a millimetre away, and that's even with a spacer thing sitting in between the drive-side BB and the frame to push it out a bit. So to run it without a spacer (the spacer on there has snapped) I'll need at least a 127 BB really. The non-driveside crank was only about 2mm away from the frame as well! I'll keep looking, give me a shout if anyone finds a 73 x 127! Cheers
  18. Ahh... forgot to say, gotta be square taper. Cheers though Ash
  19. Just been looking at my BB cos it's sort of bodged at the moment and I need to buy a new one. I measured my frame (Iolo) and the BB shell is 73mm. Interestingly the BB in there at the moment says it's a 68mm one (Shimano UN53)... Does that mean I can buy another 68mm BB and it will fit? At the moment there's a bodged spacer thing in between the driveside cup and the frame if that makes any difference, but I can't use that again because it's broken. So do I need a 73mm BB or can I use a 68? It needs to be a pretty wide axle (square taper), like 127mm minumum which is why I'm having trouble finding one in 73... Worry over, found one on Evanscycles.com... eventually!
  20. I think in my shed there is a rather old green set of Tuf Guys from my first trials bike... they're probably disc? They any use?
  21. Wow that was pretty good. Some very cool looking places to ride too.
  22. Don't know about most people but I'll be turning up something like half 1, so I'll probably come and find you all wherever you are.
  23. Sounds like Contact is my next port of call, maybe I can get that off Ebay. (Boon) yeah I don't know the song but it definitely sounds like Goldfinger (How deep is... etc). Nice one! I had the Section 7 thing already but thanks for posting it anyway. The quest continues...
  24. Here's a vote for Ramsgate on Saturday. See you there people (unless it pours with rain, in which case who's up for Revolution? lol)
  25. Fraid so. I was hoping for some more trials riding. The clips in that bike show vid were great, but has he never been in any street videos? I've searched everywhere I can think of too, on here, youtube... Ok that's it actually. Is he in any DVDs?
