Just make sure there is somewhere secure to leave your bike! And invest in some big bad locks. I worked quite hard in my first year and still rode loads, probably about the same as I do at home, bit less if I had mega deadlines but that's true at school anyway. It was\is great having a whole new city to explore and find all the spots and new people to ride with etc so you should be in for a treat! I suffered the slight misfortune that my frame broke just before Christmas... so of course the logical thing to do was to buy the most expensive frame I've owned yet. In the hope that it will last of course, always saving money . Don't get a job at uni if you can avoid it though, time is precious, you should be enjoying yourself!

I did try tabbed browsing for a while (well a few minutes), but it seemed like needless complication. I don't want a million windows open because that will confuse me and confuse my computer, and when I do have several I like to be able to see them all on the task bar with everything else. That and I instinctively resist change... Nah. I don't like it cos I don't like the way that Apple seem to want to take over the world! I hate their .m4a files because the don't play on loads of stuff. I wish everyone would use mp3s and make life simple. And I hate the fact that until you search every corner of the Apple website to find the carefully hidden standalone installation, you can't install quicktime player on its own without getting iTunes too.

That was pretty smooth wasn't it. Very nice riding, relaxing. At the spot at 1.20, I really wanted someone to go from both rocks to a manual down the side of the rock on the right, but no-one did! It broke my heart when they moved on without it...

Haha tabbed browsing got turned off almost instantly by me! To be honest though I do fear change in general... The same with most computer programs, media player for example, why do they feel the need to completely change it every year just when I have got used to using the interface?! That really annoys me, if it ain't broke don't fix it! How many hours must people spend in total worldwide just working out how to use the new stuff every time it gets changed... Sometimes they do add new features to be fair, but also they seem to lose some of the subtle little aspects of the interface that I really like. Ok must stop ranting! I don't particularly being a slave to Microsoft so I kind of see the independant software side of it, but my view is that if I want a computer that's compatible with most of the stuff in the world then it's gotta be a PC with windows as opposed to a Mac or Linux or something, so I might as well use the software that was designed with it like media player rather than realplayer and IE rather than firefox, cos I know I have no hope of escaping the Micro-domination... Not too pessimistic I hope!

I've kinda gone from proper reading to skimming now but here's some thoughts: People have commented on the effects of no smoke on lighting... you know most clubs have smoke machines? Pretty sure that's still legal. Not pubs though I guess. Interesting slight tangent, just got back from Swizterland where smoking is still allowed but they offer you free ear plugs when you enter the venue. The ear plugs were cool (although not great quality ones) because if you're not digging the music you don't have to suffer ear damage for it. The smoke kinda got me down though, I had just started to get used to the idea of being free from it when I'm out... Also they are really big on the environment, I was impressed by their multi-recycling receptacle on the back wall of this one club

I was a bit offended that they held it while I way away! Interestingly there was no mention of it whatsoever at a rather large music festival in Switzerland...

IE, I've never really found anything wrong with it, I don't notice the browser I'm using, just the websites I'm on! I've always had the general impression in the back of my mind that Firefox is meant to be better, but I've never seen the point of complicating my life by messing around with other browsers. I'm reasonably computer-literate as well.

Hot Fuzz 9 or 10, I don't know, ratings don't really work for me. Awesome film! If it gets your sense of humour anyway. Made me laugh loads all the way through, even better than Sean Of The Dead.

I haven't read most of the thread but here's my tuppence: Just work on the principle that time is really precious, so don't waste any. There is time to do all those things if you don't spend time on stuff you don't need, or really want when you think about it. How much TV do you watch? How long do you lie in bed after you've woken up and aren't actually getting any more sleep? Do you work out what you're going to do in a day and make sure it's what you want to be doing? Just some thoughts. Probably sounds a bit hard core like your mind won't get a rest but it will really. Think about when you're going to give yourself a rest too.
