I just spent a few minutes trying to get the link to work before I realised there's no way my frame will be on there, and I'd be pretty surprised if my forks, front wheel, bars, stem, grips, seat, post and clamp would be on there oh well. It would be pretty heavy I guess, better just grow some muscles...
-
Rich and Boon you have both just made me a very happy bunny!

The black and white speeded up bits with no riding kind of confused me! The gap and then turn round to come back over some low brick walls was pretty good... not much riding I liked other than that though. I think if I had been on that ride I would have been annoyed by people being right in the way of all the riding spots!

Interesting... I was hoping it would be a better parody really!

Dammit Iolo I was going to do a curb tuck photo. Probably wouldn't have been as good as that though!
-
Fine forks I have no doubt, but I think Pashley's have the edge simply because they are cheap second hand and I am poor
-
Well I rang Pashley and they told me the TV series is long gone! Bit of a shocker! Off to the Classified section we go...
-
I am sorely tempted to have that as my signature...

Is it me or was that the most useless post ever! That made me laugh, you need to post more so I see it... Yep. Make avatar changes illegal! Mine is pretty old, I use it for everything on the internet. Handy cos it doesn't show my face, I will only need to change it when I go bald or grey It was from a school trip to Italy, jumping into the water at this really really beautiful lake. I like being reminded of it. Here's the lake and so you may understand why:

Recommend Me Some V Pads For The Front (smooth Rim)
Tommy d replied to Tommy d's topic in Trials Chat
Thanks again everyone. While we're here I have another front-vee-related question: I was going to get an Odyssey Linear Slick cable as they seem to be recomended all over the place, but presumably it will be really long for a front brake and I haven't seen a front version. Is it alright to cut them down shorter? I wasn't planning on doing any barspins in the near future so presumably I don't want it mega long? -
Come on then, who is going to show me links to / upload these Boon videos? I've seen Cellloid Dream mentioned a few times... pretty please?

I don't know about the Leeson geometry, but I was reading a topic recently about the BBs... If I got the right end of the stick then you can have an ISIS BB, but it might not be a good idea because apparently square taper bearings last for longer, and to get the BB changed you basically have to send it back to Clive. I think you can probably have ET geo if you ask. I know one or two people whose Leesons have cracked or whatever, and they've just sent them back to Clive and he mended them for free. But that's not much help for you in Oz I guess. Someone who actually knows about Leeson might confirm all that stuff in a bit I've got an Iolo so talk to me! And the guy called Dont You Just Hate It When on here. I chose Iolo over Leeson mainly because a- it was cheaper b- I didn't have to worry about wierd BB or wierd dropouts so I could keep all my parts c) err maybe cos his website was more useful? I know everyone says its way better to phone Clive though. As for quality and finish I've been well happy with mine. He did everything I asked (as well as helping me with geo advice) like having V mounts above and 4-bolt mounts below, quite a high frame height as requested and you get to choose pretty much every aspect of the frame construction you can imagine! You could definitely have the ET geo. One little thing that I had trouble with on mine was getting a seat post to fit. It was an uncommon size being a steel frame, and the inside of the seat tube had some un-smooth bits that had to be filed away/used a reamer on. Not the end of the world though. Plus I had to find a longer BB cos my 22t chainring touched the frame. Very happy overall though. I haven't heard of one breaking, but then there aren't very many of them. And more to the point, I don't know if Iolo is actually making them at the moment due to being busy with his other company. Ask him! I don't know a lot about Curtises except that I think they look cool and I've heard they're built quite tankline i.e. heavy and well strong. Hope that helps

I wouldn't keep using a stem if it's cracked, might break and that can mean nasty injuries... Anyway, as I understand it, the top of the stem has to be slightly higher than the top of the steerer tube of the forks. This is so that the top cap pulls down against the stem and keeps the headset tight. If the top of the forks was higher than the top of the stem, the top cap would just be pushing against the forks and doing nothing (because it's attatched to the star nut inside the forks). I hope that made sense. Anyway the stem only wants to be a few mm higher, not loads higher than the forks, otherwise there won't be so much contact area. Maybe it's best to have a spacer above the stem? Anyone who actually knows want to fill us in?

Elliot was in Our Summer a little bit... I have no idea since then.
-
Yeah just replace individual parts when they break or when you find something you want to try different. That way you get to know your bike and what parts work for you and you spend a lot less money!
-
Sounds good. Cos I can't afford new wheels that's why!
-
Ahh but he does he shreds it! Maybe not as mentallly though. It sounds like there might be more Boonage out there that I haven't seen. Any chance of some links? The ones I have are Dancing Through Sunday, Do The Goooon, Do The Goooon Again, and Fat Jabba. Whoever finds me more Berridge earns my eternal gratitude... http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ic=97205&hl=

Very good. Me and Gilly saw the rocks and the log when we went, but gave it a miss on account of them being rocks and us being shite at rocks! We did find a new thing (to us anyway) just along from there with a wall, drain grille, gap to another wall or something like that... featuring soon in a video near you

Fair enough. and p.s. Listen up forum, he speaks the truth!
-
Haha yeah that's right it seems you have tracked me down! You at uni in Southampton then? Or live around there? Maybes I need to see you out riding come October...
-
I liked that. Some nice lines as someone said, just generally looked like fun. The bunny hop into the wall was pretty funny... it was also the ultimate case of 'that'll teach you to have a long bike!'
-
Yeah kind of. My brake is slightly more awkward to get at being underneath but it's not too bad, maybe cos of the high frame. Fine for me cos I wanted that, probably not gonna be popular with most people in the Tuckage thread though... I had a bit of a mission finding a long enough BB especially since I wanted square taper 73mm shell. The limiting factor was actually stopping my chainring from scraping the frame though, there was a few mm clearance between pistons and cranks even with a 120ish BB. This all just for one example though I guess.

Recommend Me Some V Pads For The Front (smooth Rim)
Tommy d replied to Tommy d's topic in Trials Chat
Yeah it's all good. Cheers for the recommendations. I might go with Salmon but I was going to ask if you (mr danny streetjibs) have a link for those Jagwire ones so I can peruse? Any other links to pads I might not have found in the usual online shops would be cool too. (my LBS is a bit useless) Ta -
Close to! Maybe not AS. You are probably right in that it is the effect of riding with him in person. Watching Danny Mac's videos gives me the same feeling as watching Jack for real. Let me find some footage on parents' old computer... Don't know how much he still rides now. Someone told me that he is with Saracen at the moment. Doesn't sound fantastic does it!

For me: Boon TRA (I love how he appears so bouncy. He was the first 'big' rider I saw and it amazed me. Anyone who can get up a post box also deserves credit.) Jack Barnes (if you don't know him then I might be able to upload something. He's my local hero, something close to Danny Mac in ablity I reckon. Imagine seeing that in your own town when you've only just started riding!) Steve_A Phil Feeney They have all inspired me a lot. And more recently: John Shrewsbury Clem Craig (Clockwork on here - watch his videos!) Danny Mac There are plenty more but it would be a long list... Wicked video!
