Fat Pants Needs To Organise Stuff, Kent
Tommy d replied to Fixed Pants™'s topic in Member Organised Rides
I might be able to come to Herne Gay for a bit, just have to wait and see. For the demo in Ramsgate, we're arriving at 1 and riding at 2. Probably have to set the rig up first. It will probably rain though. And if you don't know where it is, it's here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=e...p;z=18&om=1 -
Seems like a good idea, hope it goes well.

Pompey from Kent is a bit of a mish (i.e. like 4 hours worth!) so I think I'll wait till I'm back in Southampton for that. Might be doing Herne Bay though with Fatty P and friends.

Fear not my friend for the world is your oyster. If you're after easy spins, try the ones where you pivot on the front wheel, then the back, or whichever wheel is near something. Opens up loads of stuff for you to do, any gap that's bridgeable is asking to be spun over. It's well easy if you pump up your back tyre good and hard. I tend to do them cos I haven't got the hang of bmx-style ones where you just fly in circles. I think that's all part of the process. If you keep doing that for a bit every time you ride, in a year or two it will work! Well it's taken me that long to get half way there anyway... In general I would just say try and come up with new ways to ride on the stuff you're used to. No matter how many moves you've figured out on one object at your local spot, there are more! Also, once you can do a line, see if you can do it without braking or pedalling. Tends not to work if backwheeling rails is involved but its a good game! And watch videos of people you think are inventive, and relentlessly nick their moves and ideas.

Any ideas for times for any of these rides? Don't know if I can do Herne Bay now but the rest should be alright. Anyone else up for Margate/Cliftonville seafront on Wednesday the 22nd? -

What do you mean by high rise/low rise? I didn't think there was a lot of variation in the heights of trials forks. You're not using suspension are you?

A few clues on what sort of riding you like would help. And how big you are.

Interesting to see quite a few other people play guitar. But then maybe that's true of the population in general not just trials riders. It is pretty fun after all! As for me, it's mainly just music and bikes... I play the piano (and guitar) and I'm studying music, and I ride trials and a bit of downhill and dirt. I play tennis a bit too, but apart from that and the odd bit of drinking, not much time for anything else!

Yeah that was alright, but there is always going to be a limit on how interesting a video made entirely on pallets can be...

I have no idea what the first post, or any of the text in the video says as I do not understand Russian... but that was an amazing video! Brilliant riding, some of it was mega smooth too. The wheelie was amazing! Back flip is alright as well innit.

Nyyyeah not bad, I thought the bench to bin to flower pot line was pretty cool. Need more of that, and less of the clips that are just a side hop...

Last year the demo looked a bit like this: Only better cos Jack Barnes is a lot better than me and he was riding, amongst others... I don't know what stuff there is to ride on yet. I need to ring Jason really. The 3-level rig is his though so that will probably be there. -

Interesting fact: there is a trials demo on Sunday the 19th in Ramsgate for the Lark In The Park Festival. Everyone should come. I'm not in charge, but last year and the year before, anyone who turned up was welcome to sign away their life for insurance purposes, and ride in the demo. Kind of an all-day type demo, outdoors. You should talk to jason @ mbedge on here... I don't know the times of the demo, might be time for some street riding too, or if you lot all go street riding anyway we might be able to come find you some time. Anyway 18th = Herne Bay = Yep, I have work but not till the evening. 19th = Ramsgate = as above. 20th = Whitstable = Maybe, never ridden there so would be cool, as long as my arms still work from the demo. 21st = Folkestone = Yeah man. 22nd = Margate, Broadstairs, and the entire coast in between Margate and Broadstairs all have riding. A good ride is to start in Margate and just work your way along until you're in Broadstairs and get the train home from there. Apparently Dover is quite good too, miles away though. Or Ramsgate if you do the demo instead of street on the 19th. All of this is providing the weather is alright by the way! p.s. if you want to give your nan less hassle, Herne Bay is like 1 stop on the train from Whitstable lol
