I was thinking about the creativity side of riding the other day, and here is my latest theory: Natural forces you into being creative whereas street does not. But street has the greater capacity for being creative. (because flat surfaces are easier, therefore it's easier to put your ideas into action) Any thoughts?

Don't worry about getting V brakes if you have to. There are good vees and less good ones but they can be great for trials, it's just important to set them up well as with any brake. Good luck.

Wots The Worst Thing Happend To You Doin Trials
Tommy d replied to mandry1991's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
The worst thing I have done (and also seen happen to a friend recently) is bailing badly and falling onto the bike, with the bars going in your tummy. Really really painful, and also really scary because you can't tell at first whether or not you have done internal damage to yourself. I was ok, just sore for a few weeks. The moral of the story is always get clear of the bike when things go wrong. -
Yeah, anything that makes your front end higher, or your bike shorter, will make it easier to pull up.

Fat Pants's camp site got flooded the other day! Just thought that might make someone smile Yeah that was in Whitstable anyway (Kent). And the trains were a mess too that day. But other than that I think we've been quite lucky round where I live (chalk bedrock ***). Rubbish weather but not much flood damage, unlike some unfortunate places.

Haha funny topic, good work team

I've not ridden London before but it looks like Waterloo is really close, I'm planning to get the train into Waterloo East at 10.33 with a couple of others so if you want we can try and meet you. But apparently the meeting spot is right by the London Eye so you'll have no trouble anyway.

Trials Only Online Auction System (poll Now Added!)
Tommy d replied to 531joshua's topic in Trials Chat
I chose that one cos of the way that trials-auctions.co.uk is a lot like trials-forum.co.uk... presumably it would be possible to have some kind of connection between them? Have you talked to the admins? -
Trials Only Online Auction System (poll Now Added!)
Tommy d replied to 531joshua's topic in Trials Chat
Would it be any different to eBay in the way it works? Also, make sure all the legal/contractual stuff is tight (goes without saying) and make sure that it is all clear to people as they are using it, nice and easy to understand T&Cs. -
Haha yeah did make me smile. Looks like a pretty high/hard wallride at that! Any video? If anyone did think it wasn't trials, surely this picture kind of proves that it must be trials as it would get you past that object in a comp! I hope everyone goes away and learns to wallride

Yeeeah pretty sweet riding in there!

Don't worry about it mr Hendrix just use a drill. I did mine a couple of years ago cos it came with a little hole for silly valves, it's been fine ever since. And think about how loads of rims have big holes drilled in anyway...

I wouldn't worry if you can't get as many inches as someone with something long and low. It will still be a useful skill whatever height you do it to, and still open up more possibilities for you wherever you ride. Just enjoy it and relish the fun shortness and all the stuff you can do with it that you wouldn't be able to with a new-school frame.

Pretty unlucky about that! Was quite a good ride when it wasn't raining, half way through me and Gilly lost our guides when seeking shelter and didn't find them again, got some good riding in though. Was a bit of a mission to get home cos the trains were messed up, fallen tree on the line at Orpington they said... anyway it took us 3 hours to get back to Broadstairs! We took a susprise detour to Ashford and back but I don't think it really helped! Anyways see you in London Fatty

Just realised I made a topic pretty much the same as your one... oh well s'all good, see you in a bit.

I had mega troubles trying to find a long enough BB for my frame and cranks, especially as I needed 73 shell. I tried every website under the sun but in the end I managed to get one just by going to a few bike shops, was only £8 for a shimano there too.

Sweet. Be good to see you all. The last forecast I saw said it might be damp early on and get drier in the afternoon.

Gearing is generally just a matter of opinion so someone else's views might end up being different from yours anyway. Just have to try it and see. 13t is a pretty small cog to have though, it won't help things like chain skipping and wear...

Right, Folkestone ride ahoy, this Tuesday from about 11 o'clock. Don't know where people usually meet... I'm gonna go for the mushroom thing on the cliff top cos I think I can find it... I hope you know what I mean by that. So far it's me, Gilly, Glen (Fat Pants), maybe Simon Oram and a couple of others from Ramsgate. Would be great to have some more people, locals or travellers like us, it's all good. If it pours with rain we probably won't bother, bit of drizzle and we should cope. So Mushroom at 11 please everybody! For anyone who wants to get the train with us, it's 9.48 from Broadstairs, 9.57 from Ramsgate, 9.23 from Whitstable, 9.28 from Herne Bay, etc etc.

Sadly superglue doesn't hold for very long as Gilly found on his last Giant... Did a few rides though!

Nope it has to be high for me! Whenever they start to feel squidgy I put them back up to 40psi. But then I like rolling and spinning, and I don't like punctures...

Ah no not the sauna, sometimes I find if I get up and have a warm shower I have to be sick... Water as everyone has said, and in the morning, get outside! If possible, go for a swim somewhere cold too. Have some fruit as well, I heard that fructose metabolises alcohol better than glucose does.

Sweet video! Nicely edited but the riding is what counts and that was wicked, you may have found your way into the extremely select group of mod riders whose riding I like!
