    Base Ta26

    Sweet, on all counts!

    Base Ta26

The Tartybikes description says 1025 but yeah pretty much. Here's a video of one: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....hl=elliot+firth
  3. Maybe you could try and explain a bit more clearly where the problem is. Is it the brake caliper that is wobbling, or the 4-bolt to vee adapter? Which part is it that you think is 'rounded'? Do you mean threads stripped or a bolt head rounded off?

    Base Ta26

Cheers for the advice guys, hopefully I'm not going to need one if I can get my current frame repaired (steel) but it's good to know. Just out of interest do you know much about the warranty? Would it be invalidated if I took off the bash plate? Is it one year? Thanks

Cool, yeah I forgot to say I would be running a seat post.

    Base Ta26

Just looking at my options at the moment and thinking the TA26 would be a cheap frame around the length I like, should I need one. The main thing I need to know is about strength. I've heard they may not be the strongest frames on the planet. I also want to know where it is that they break (if they do). So far 4 out of my 4 trials frames to date have all gone in the same place, on the chainstay just behind the BB. Do Bases ever crack/snap here? If they do, there might not be much point in me buying one! Thanks
  7. Here's a guy trying a backflip drop with a sort of wheelie start. He comes pretty close! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BE_4H2OLiFg
  8. I've been happy with Maxxis, although I kind of regret the single ply front. That's probably cos I use 60a though. I have to have it pumped up hard or it rims out on front wheel stalls, and then it's got no grip. The softer ones would probs be much better for that though. I just can't afford new tyres very often! And yes, Michelin Hot S was rubbish while I had it! It was light, but no grip and no sidewalls. Next time I'll be going for a 60a dual ply front, just have to grow some muscles before then...

    Helmets

I guess trying it on/comfort should be the main thing. Saying that, when I got a helmet I just ordered the 661 dirt lid of CRC... Generally I reckon a cycle style helmet will probably heat up your head less, but a dirt lid looks better, in my own humble opinion.
  10. Phew! http://farm1.static.flickr.com/171/444944287_c274e2ee68.jpg That one right? I'm sure Gilly will be along at some stage to add his comments/measurements...
  11. I could see it being problematic though, if going big is the only thing you ride for, it's just going to get bigger and bigger until you end up killing yourself not just breaking an ankle! Trials martyr = not good.
  12. Sounds like a different one to gilly's then... Does it have a seat post?
  13. Yeah we do need to know which model! Gilly has a black one (the one after the Martin Hawyes one?) and with Ashton forks the wheelbase is about 1040, and it's got a bit of a BB drop, really long chainstays too. He loves it! Get him to give it a measure...

    Southampton

During term time myself and a gentleman named Gilly will be riding Southampton quite a bit as we go to uni there too. There's quite a lot to ride there although some bits are spread far apart. And in our first year we barely scratched the surface of exploring the docks! This year we might get some photos up on the locations wiki... Your ES4 will be in safe old skool territory by the way, Gilly rides a Giant. Should be checking the forum so post up on here when you're around, or you can have my mobile/email/msn if that takes your fancy. Oh and beware the big-rides-from-station syndrome where they tend to stay in one place outside Spar for many many hours!
  15. Do you think you could dumb that down a bit for me? I've read it through about 5 times and I still don't think I get it! Are you saying that softer pad material means more friction, or that it is better at not being worn away? And is the next bit about pads being squashed and therefore not wearing evenly? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Sorry, village idiot here, believe it or not I got an A in Physics A level... true story...

    One Night

Have to say the riding was pretty cool. Had the feel of a proper session! (Not sure what that exactly means but it definitely did)
  17. I'm going somewhere in the afternoon, possibly free by the evening. What sort of time you thinking? If it's in Thanet then there's a chance I might make it. By the way, off topic but I'm curious, is there any riding in Sandwich?
  18. After 3 years, my kool stop reds are about half worn down. Presumably softer pads would have a shorter life though...
  19. You have recieved a new feedback. Below are details concerning the new feedback. Type: Good Rating SummaryReally fast payment, good to deal with. Given By: Tommy d You were the: Buyer Date: 1188400453
  20. Riding looked pretty good, is it meant to just stop at 1.17?
  21. Good call! Well, plenty of riding anyway, but Margate is pretty bad for chavvage, and they seem to have guns and knives... Welcome to Thanet though!
  22. All those pictures have got me quite excited (not in that way), never ridden London before, well looking forward to the ride in September!
  23. mmm was kind of thinking that but wasn't going to comment as it's just on here for fun! Some of the stuff was really crazy from my point of view, but there were also a fair few lines in the vid I could have done on my trials bike, I'm sure I'm not the only one. If I remember the last vid this one was an improvement though, so by promo vid 4 or 5 sponsors should definitely be on the way!
  24. I enjoyed that. One or two of the lines especially were really cool but just generally good stuff.
  25. I guess at the moment it has to be the bit of string that holds my too-long front brake cable away from getting caught in my front tyre...
