Looks good! What's the weight coming in at?
-
I was going to mention that the older version may be better in terms of trying to find 1-1/8th steerer forks, but even those are fewer and farther between these days! I blame Ali for pulling all the steerers off them. Suss foooorks, now V brake specific ones. Jees man, save some for the rest of us. If you like riding skinnies, then the magura mounted (older) version is going to be better. There was one version of the Hex which had both the magura mounts and the disc mount but those are like hens teeth.

That bike lol wow. I think steering might be the least of your problems.

Crewkerz Freed 3 Framekit Build (2015)

That's what they'll have you believe. -
The other 10% are retro hoarders.

Its not that there is one part which has alota'logos, its all the parts together on the bike that scrambles my eyes. I was never really a fan of the rim logos on those rims and the fact that they're deep it just lets the huge logos stand out even more. The writing on the tyres not lining up with anything is possibly adding to the scrambling. The function of that particular saddle could be argued🤣 The size, material and angle is all wrong for me. Too small, too hard and pointing the wrong way(-hey) 😂 There are so many good options out there for pivotal & non-pivotal BMX saddles as well as Inspired's own but if you're happy then that's all that matters. (I think trials bikes had normal mtb saddles before mini seats came along man, so wouldn't say that's where we started).🤷♂️

Death by logos. You've got all the "good parts" - Just seems a bit busy to look at. That saddle is killing me too. Turns a high end bike into more of a child's bike.

Looks so short compared to modern comp bikes haha. Nice clean looking build, though. Know the weight? -
What disc brake mount adapters do you guys use?

Check the Hayes one if you're not made of money. -
Cant really beat a DH Maxxis DHF or a Minion/DHRii for the back of the bike you're building. If it was more pure trials id be saying a Clean Koala or a Vee tyre would be best bet. The Ikon is nice for a front tyre or a rear if set up tubeless with an insert on a street bike.

Could someone suggest some Improving Techniques for Trials Riding
Ross McArthur replied to Benjonson's topic in Trials Chat
If its bunny hops up stuff, like walls, instead of trying to hop higher, keep with the height you can currently do, but try and throw in a manual upon landing. Once you're comfortably landing that height in a manual, go back to trying to hop higher again. 👌 -
Get 100 back, ride it better than him then give him the finger.

Very cool seeing one in black with red stickers. Still love the silver with green stickers though 😁

Glasgow Trial at Bob Macgregors - Round 5
Ross McArthur replied to Ross McArthur's topic in Clubs and Competitions
It'll be touch and go on whether I can make it. Gutted I missed Newcastleton and this one too possibly. Just got some other stuff going on at the moment which will hopefully mean more fun attendances in the future. -
Have a swatch at The Clan Cycle Stunt Team Facebook page (old school). Our Iain usually puts up where we will be a few weeks in advance but its generally the events "job" to do the advertising. If events organisers specifically ask, the team will do advertising for them through our own social media pages. It also helps if events do their own poster, which is an easy share. But you're right, demos teams should do more in terms of marketing. I remember seeing the Animal Tour dates in MBUK and having my life evolve around when Ashton was coming to the local Halfords😅

Rear hydraulic disc brakes feeling soft. Am I being too sensitive?

You don't mention anything about lever reach. Have you experimented by screwing the lever reach adjuster further out? -
It is custom but its not a one off. https://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/206846-specialized-p-trial-yuki-ayato/

Social media - peoples own Instagram accounts and a couple of Facebook groups, including Ride Inspired and Trials Bikes from the 90s have really stolen traffic away from this forum. When you look at events like the UCI World Champs in Glasgow and the Barcelona street ride, you could be forgiven for thinking trials was very much still alive. The slight problem is that there isn't much, from what I can see, new people coming into the sport. There is the odd parent taking it up so they can be involved with what their kids are doing at the comps but they are likely buying 2nd hand bikes. The Scottish Bike Trials Club does its best to make trials accessible to as many as possible, giving riders the chance to ride indoors during the winter and holds comps in varying locations so that throughout the year people have longer or shorter journeys to the venues. We hold a mountain bike category so that anyone wanting to give comps a go don't need to commit to buying a trials bike to get involved. Insta accounts like Aaron Lutze @superridertv does a great job of breaking down the basics for new riders, which is good to see. Back in the day I had to pause VHS tapes to see what body position riders were in for taps, gaps, side hops etc, so new riders don't know how good they've got it. Are trials frames and parts just too good now? No one needs to upgrade as much as they used to. I'd snap a set of echo urban forks every few months or crack a frame every 6 months to a year. Now there's inspired or trial tech forks which I don't think I've ever broken! So there's less riders buying less stuff now. Anyway, so all in all I don't think trials is completely dead, its just as small and niche as its always been.

Set up the course 9am on the Saturday. Ride the only wall in a 50 mile radius. Van/Car camp in the Ice Climbing centre car park/create a "Trials Village". Become mortal enemies on the 17th and compete. Entries open soon and will post the link but in the mean time keep an eye on the website. https://www.scottishbiketrial.co.uk/events

Saddles on a Leeson 609 - What did you run??
Ross McArthur replied to Brettoll's topic in Trials Chat
The only thing about Ergon is the big white logo on the side. It may be slim and short but that logo on an old school build would be unforgivable. -

Ross McArthur replied to Brettoll's topic in Trials Chat
The Burgtec Cloud, in my eyes is the best saddle for an old school trials build like a Leeson. I have a carbon railed one on my Giant Team Trials and love the look of it. Helps that it's a carbon railed version too for that stealth look and light weight combo. -
Highly doubt the front hub is a Hope. It'll more than likely be a Deng hub, so Echo, Zoo, or maybe even a Viz. Front Rim looks like a square hole single wall Trial Tech. I wouldn't worry too much on "what year it is". Zero f**ks are given, and anyone asking, I would question why.

Try enjoying it for what it is then dude. Don't get yourself too upset because you cant pigeonhole the "genre", in fact, its individuality should be celebrated. I've yet to watch it.

There’s comfort in knowing you’re not the only one.

Another frame that could have been cool if the seat tube wasn't so slack. I wonder if there are any still out in the wild?
