  1. Cheers mate, thats taken a big weight off my mind!
  2. I got some new forks the other day, DMR Trailblade 2's, and at the moment I'm running dual disc HFX-9's. Problem is I run an 8" rotor up front and while this was fine on Dirt Jam's, I think it might exert too much pressure on the forks which, being rigid, may not be able to cope with it. What do you guys reckon, anyone run a rigid with a big rotor before?
  3. I used to use square and had problems now and then, slipping, untightening etc. I run ISIS now and can honestly say I've never had any problems with it in the last year and a half.
  4. Doesn't look too bad as a starter. If your falling off alot make sure the brakes work properly, half the time lower end bikes don't have properly set up brakes which causes the rider to slip out. Easily sorted though.
  5. I definatly agree there, way to many vids of just big sidehops and taps. Very good yes, but very boring after a while.
  6. I've got to agree, the morning ride thing kicks ass. I get up early to hit the skateparks, no one on them early in the morning! Its like my personal skatepark that way! Street rides are great in the morning too, no one around and as you say, cool weather!
  7. I built my bike from scratch and chose every single component that I wanted. I ended up with the exact bike I wanted and for a decent price. When I look at manufacturers complete bikes now I see I made the right decision, there are bikes that cost £400 more than mine that have inferior parts. I've never seen any full bike to buy that is around the same price as I built mine for that has a similar spec, at least in terms of quality. But then it did take me a fair while to accumulate and build the bike so the full bike option is the easier of the two.

    How To Fakie

I find that dropping the back wheel fairly hard after the endo gives me momentum.
  9. I use nokian gazza's and triple x's (for parks) and can honestly say in the 12+ months of using these tyres I haven't had ONE puncture, no pinch flats or anything, even at low pressures. They are a bit hefty though and I'm sure there are better trials tyres out there, but if you hate punctures these are the daddy's. Or your mate could get another IRC Kujo, they are pretty damn good too!

    Abbingdon 2006

Yeah, great video. As has been said before great music choice too. I love those obstacles, how long did it take to get those skips there and tip them over!
  11. Seriously? Man thats intense! I never realized people had it so bad, that has really shocked me quite a bit. That really sucks! Some people are so ignorant, walls just sit there doing nothing and we actually use them for a purpose above and beyond their original intentions, and people abuse you for what, because your 'ruining' the wall? I'll admit hitting fragile obstacles with your bash time and time again is a bit off, but beyond that I don't see a problem in us utilizing our enviroment to its fullest potential despite the ignorance of some who are either unjustifiably angry or inherently jealous. Sorry, got into into a bit of a rant there, but like I said, your post shocked me quite a bit!
  12. Mines pretty light and super-strong. Unfortunatly its unbranded, but look around and you'll find a good one. The quality of mine is testimont to the fact that you don't need to splash loads on Kryptonite or and bib name locks in order to get something strong and safe. Mines very similar to this one http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=8481 CRC have got a big range though so check aroung it.
  13. What kind of abuse do you get when your out riding? I'm interested to know, I've never experienced it. Apart from the 'Ger of my land!' but everone gets that...
  14. That was alright. Obviously your not going super huge or pulling off really hard moves, but the moves that you do you do well. You've got good balance on the back wheel, for instance. A bit more variety would've made the video better, and also don't show too much setup, i.e hopping around finding your balance before a move, cut that down when you edit it to make the vid flow that little bit better. Not bad though mate.
  15. Hi, Check out the Bike Pics thread in the main section of the New Members forum. There are alot of very nice 20" bikes in there which should give you some ideas.
  16. Great vid, but I don't quite get the whole 'everyones judging me thing', correct me if I've got it wrong. I've never felt that kind of reaction to riding. From whom do you receive negative feelings about your riding? When you say 'people' thats generalizing quite drastically don't you think? Pretty much anyone that goes by when I'm riding either says nothing or says 'nice one!' or something along those lines. Again, sorry if I've got it wrong, which is very likely, but theres two ways to deal with criticism or prejudice against you and what you do, be affected by it and suffer, or deal with it, accept that they are wrong, and go ride!

    Rigid Forks

Thanks for the advice. Weight isn't really a problem, as whatever they are they're going to be lighter than my Dirt jam's.

    Rigid Forks

Hi guys, I'm looking to get rid of my marrazochis and get some rigids again, however in the past I've bent two pairs and snapped one, as well as bending two pairs of suspension forks, so I'm pretty hard on them. Therefore I want to get a really strong pair thats going to last me at least half an hour. Any recommendations? Also, does anyone know what forks Ryan Leech runs? Cheers
  19. Really good quality pics too, as well as decent riding!

    My

Looks great, I agree with unstablebutable, its nice to see a basic silver/black bike that hasn't got a rainbow of colours on it. Looks clean and smooth. I see alot of bikes on here with Minion tyres, what are they like to ride, any particular reason you run them?
  21. I've got to agree with unicycle boy here, you can certainly do alot of sports and still be good at all of them. If you put time and effort into your riding then theres no reason you won't get better. In fact your other sports will probably help, especially with things such as endurance, balance and confidence. Just keep at it and you'll be improving in no time.
  22. Personally I'd wait a while before you go upgrading. Unless there is something specifically wrong with a component, or you already know of parts you prefer, as someone has always said, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Ride it for a while to see what you like/don't like then upgrade later on. I'd wait until I broke something or a part got a little too worn in then I'd consider upgrades, upgrading for the sake of it is costly and you are wasting decent, working components in the process.
  23. That looks nasty, every trials riders nightmare right there! Not to sound anal or anything but if your going for drops that big then get yourself a helmet dude, that fall could've been alot worse.
  24. I'd find that information really useful as well, just a breakdown of which spots are worth checking out. Good idea bob87.
  25. Theres no right or wrong just personal preference. I find it harder to balance with soft tyres so run mine a quite hard. Also depends on what tyres and tubes your using because if your running any tyre with a thin sidewall then pinch flats become an issue at lower pressures. If this is the case its better to use medium-hard to eliminate pinch flats as best you can.
