this. Reviews, although to be fair they are not likely to be trials bike rider reviews.

Random, I used to work in the wetherspoons in penge years ago, Jesus, whats it called? the moon under water? I live in Downham, right between catford and bromley and penge is just down the road! Where do you ride round here then?

A mate of mine might be coming down to stay, and it'd be nice to take him riding into london, so where do you guys ride when your out in london? Cheers Elliot

wow i didnt expect so many people to come out extolling the virtues of v brakes over hs33s!! Since posting I had decided to keep the v mount frame with the hs33s on evo mounts and try and bodge a four-bolt booster on it. I was speaking to a guy about a heatsink booster cos they have the greatest range of spacing, which I recon I could get to fit over the evo mounts. But all of this advice to the contrary is making me think, would the 4-bolt frame with a 4-bolt booster perform that much better than the v-mount frame with a bodged on 4-bolt booster? Fraid I really cant see myself getting v’s, not only have I just forked out on hs33s front and rear, but I am yet to be convinced of their single digit potential (no offence, probably just never seen a decent one set up properly!). Ps the four-bolt frame was indeed bought off of the trials commentator by my mate. The v-brake frame is in fact your old frame bigruss, that I bought off you last year! TF purchases all the way!!!!

just got a new style hs33 for chrimbo though, and i'm loathed to get rid of it.

I have a choice between 2 echo bounce frames, one with v mounts and one with 4-bolt: One was bought for £75 and is in better condition, just a couple of small dents and one or two scratches. I run maggies on its v-mounts, which makes the seat stays flex a fair bit, although I only have the normal Maggie booster. I have been riding this frame a few months, and though I have heard horror stories about these frames cracking when you sit on them, I have not had a problem. That’s said I only started riding trials last year so I don’t give it that much of a pounding. The other frame a mate of mine bought for £60 and is willing to swap with me. It is more scratched and has a few more dents, but it all seems cosmetic, and it has 4-bolt mounts, which I could fit a four-bolt booster to get rid of the flex and have better braking. Sounds gay I know, but I also haven’t got the trust in this frame that I have in the other. So what should I do? Stick with the original or swap?

Thats the third time you've helped me out with my random requests (the others were IDing a random rim, and telling me what mech hanger I needed) Thanks man, legend! I only started riding trials this year and if I go anything other than easy I have a habit of falling off! Thanks for the warning though mate I appreciate it. I had a look around on the site before buying the frame and decided that as it is going to be a fair while till I'm getting anywear near good enough to break it, it'd be fine. again, Cheers all!

got myself an echo bounce frame (cheers bigruss, am well pleased with it! ) but I want to get a new BB as mine is shagged. Anyone know what size I'm after? Thanks!

I thought about that, and will probably do it when i have the time, for now I'll keep my random cassette and get a spacer or 2 to sort out the chain line. Thanks for all the info though people, its appreciated, Its a pain in the arse trying to build a trials bike when the one bloke you know who does it has moved away, and you havent the time to research it properly!! Anyway trial and error (and error and error...) is more fun cos I like tinkering, even if suck at it!!

The previous cassette was 11-32 and I found that when using the 22th chainring i only used 11-20th of the gears (like the top 3 or 4) and the 32th was just pointless. so i thought i would change and buy a cassette with a range that had 22th at one end for trials stuff and 12 at the other end for getting to places. Having just ridden it around this kinda works, although I still cant see me using half the gears.

Hey all, Well I changed my set up from this: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=15467 to this: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=15562 I changed the chain ring from dual to single 22th with bash ring and i changed the rear cassette to 12-21 sprocket. Now my problem is that on the biggest sprocket the chain rubs the tyre, as in here: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=15559 So shat should I do? I have noticed that the chain is stretched, so i have bought a new KMC K810 Kool from tarty, but I cant see that from stopping the chain rubbing. Should I just stick a spacer on the bottom bracket (which is a Truvativ job)? But what about the internal spacer thing? wont that stop contacting both cups if i put on a spacer? Cheers again guys, moving from bmx single speed to all this gear balls is a pain in the arse! Elliot thinking bout it I also built the rear wheel, could I have not dished it enough? though that said, the tyre never rubbed with the old cassettee, and the rim sits pretty much in the centre of the pads.

This is very true, and in the spirit of owning a trials bike to do trials on, I think I'm gonna loose the outer ring. Thanks again for the advice dude!!!
-
Ok, so took off the derailleur shifers and cable, and took a few links out of the chain. I havent decided which chainring to get rid of though, cos if i get rid of the inner ring i'll need to get a new cassette cos 22 tooth chainring and an 8 Speed Cassette thats 11/30 is a bit much!! whereas if i keep the outer 32tooth ring then the cassette kinda works, plus i can use the bike to get places! On the other hand its alot easier to play around on when I use the 22 tooth, sooo, f**k knows!! But thanks anyway dude, you helped alot and added to my list of "things I'd like to buy if i could afford to"!!!
-
Not quite as simple as that I'm afraid dude! I put this bike together on the serious cheap, so its a collection of parts that i could get! the chainrings are 32 outer and 22 inner and i can generally get away with using just the outer ring as the cassette is 11/30. This probably sounds random as, but i do use the thing to get around on aswell. I want to get rid of one of the chainrings and use a tensioner, because of the cassette i should be able to get rid of the inner one, but how should i do it and what should i use to tension the thing? anyway pics here: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=15465 http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=15466 http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=15467

I keep on buying stuff off ebay only to find that it doesn’t fit or work as I thought it would. So before buying stuff this time I thought I would consult your kind selves! I have a dual ring Truvativ Hussfelt crank, the inner ring of which I don’t use. I want to run this as a single ring and cure the problem of the chain, which keeps coming off. What do you recon is the cheapest solution? Can I whip off the inner ring and stick on a bashguard in its place, which would help to guide the chain and make balancing mildly easier? Would one fit? Or should I take off the inner ring and stick on a BB mounted chain tensioner? would it reach the outer ring ok?

LMAO!! Don't pull you your punches will you mate!!
