  1. Good try ... judges not allowed to compete
  2. Completely freestyle. From the Event Plan ... "Pre-entry only of competitors. A team of 4 riders of any age and riding ability, on either 2-wheeled bikes or unicycles. The team members will ride one at once, consecutively, for 1 minute in the main arena. A panel of judges will assess each rider on his style of riding and use of the main arena obstacles and mark each rider out of 10 available points from each judge. The panel will take into account the rider's obvious age and expected ability for that age. Team members' scores will be added to give the team total. Two classes: (1) Two-wheeled bikes and (2) Unicycles. Each team will ride once in the morning and once in the afternoon at given times." Ride how you want, put on a good show, and help raise money for a very worthy cause. If you don't have enough friends to put a team together, don't worry, we can tie you up with other individual entries. The main thing is, with only 20 teams, 80 competitors, to get your entry off as soon as they're released!
  3. Now confirmed that Cesar Canas will be doing three demos during the day, and acting as a member of the judging panel. Confirmation of other top names soon! Team entry forms will be released next week, only 20 teams of 4 can take part in the main event so start sorting your teams out now! Date: Sunday 23rd March (Easter Sunday) Venue: Indoor at Skipton Auction Mart, Skipton, North Yorkshire. (10 minutes bike ride from Skipton Station) Entry fee £1 per person. Arena section built from equipment from the Sheffield Arena Trial with the help of Martin Lampkin Demonstrations by top world riders Team Arena Event, any age, any ability (£5 per rider) Bunny Hop competition (£1 for 3 attempts) Sidehop competition (£1 for 3 attempts) Gap jump competition (£1 for 3 attempts) Limbo competition (£1 for 3 attempts) Charity Auction Everyone's invited to have a go at the Bunny Hop, Sidehop, Gap jump and Limbo competitions so make sure you bring your bike! Seems to be a lot of questions here, so let's try to make it easy ... Club membership You can either join the club for the full 2008 year for £10.00 (covers costs of all entry forms, results and newsletters). Club membership form can be downloaded and printed from here. Or, you can request "Day membership" for £3.00. You are allowed 2 'Day memberships' if you are new to the club, just to try it out before you pay the full fee. If you have had two day memberships and decide to join up for the rest of the year, the difference to pay would be just £4.00. If you are a Day member, you cannot earn championship points. Competition entry Entry form for the first round can be downloaded and printed from here. Send this with your cheque to the address on there. Or, you can enter on-line from here. Please pay by clicking on the "PayPal Buy Now" button on here. Whilst it is tempting to "just do it on the day", all that does is delay the start time and cause harassment to the organisers. We've tried to make it as easy as possible to enter and to pay in advance ... PLEASE HELP US BY ENTERING BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE!!! Fees / Payment Full club membership = £10 per year to 31st December. Day membership = £3 per event (2 only allowed). Event Entry fee = £10 if sent by cheque/cash before the closing date. Event Entry fee = £11 if sent by PayPal before the closing date (difference to cover PayPal fees). Event Entry fee = £15 if late entry/entry of the day. Event Entry fee = £16 if late entry by PayPal. In other words, the sooner you send your entry form and pay, the cheaper it is for you, and the easier it is for our organisers! NOTE: To pay by clicking on the PayPal link - you do NOT need to have a PayPal account, you can pay through them using any debit or credit card. Which class to enter? You can enter any class you want. White is the easiest, then Green, then Blue, then Red. (Yellow is reserved for very experienced riders.) Ignore the age groups listed on the entry form against the classes, they are a guideline and are used for Club Championship points. If you decide after starting that you have chosen the wrong route colour (ie too hard or too easy) go back to control and ask to change class. You can do this up to having already ridden 3 sections. You do not need any licences to ride in TykeTrial events. Any more questions ... give us a call on 07850 505298.

Help is always needed on Saturday to set it all up, otherwise organise yourselves into a ride somewhere! Camping available on Saturday night. Team entry forms will be available for download in due course, so start getting your teams planned now for a really fun day. Organised by volunteers, all profits will go to cancer-related charities.

Watch this space for more details. 2008 Membership forms will be distributed in the next couple of weeks to all 2007 members, please fill it in and send it back straight away! Barbara
  9. Paperwork has now dried out a little and results are now online at www.biketrialuk.co.uk TykeTrial Championship results are also ready for inspection. Well done to everyone, and thank you all for a really fun year. See you all soon!
  10. You're very welcome to come up to our competition at Addingham Moorside on 2nd December, join in and have a go. But, for the longer term, there is a new club starting up in Norfolk - give Adam a call for more information. Details here ... www.biketrialuk.co.uk clubs page Any events advertised on that website do not need any licences - just the entry fees
  11. One of the club's Beginner class riders is seriously ill in hospital after just having had a 9½ hour operation - 9 year old Ben Carlile. It is early days, but at the moment, he can just move his arms and one leg, and they are waiting for results to tests. Ben just lives for trials and riding his bike, he's a brilliant little rider, and I am sure he would love to receive a card from other riders wishing him a speedy recovery. If you could all put your get well wishes on this post so that I can copy them into a card I am sure that he would really appreciate it. Thank you. Barbara
  12. You would be very welcome to come along to the event. We have around 80+ entries per trial aged from 6 year old to around 40ish. Spectators include adults of all ages, including grandparents, and sometimes World Champ mototrials riders! The 2nd December is at Addingham Moorside, the 2005 World Round venue so should be some good sections to film! If there is anything we can do to help just give us a call. TykeTrial
  13. So, perhaps someone could let the riders know: why did you set dates that had already been set by someone else in the first place? You set the same date as for the Bike Show, again as for the annual TykeTrial 2-day event, then again for this event. There are few enough events in the country without purposely doubling up. (Note: when I say "you" I mean the powers that be, not you personally)
  14. Our event was first announced on this forum banner on 29th March, and some weeks previously on the website. TykeTrial committee members agreed the August date back in January/February. Your 'British' event was first announced on this forum in this post and on their website on 26th April . Our insurance permit was received in early June. On 21st July according to this post (last page) you hadn't even got a club to run the rochdale event. We have been fighting to keep this venue/date since the 'closure' was announced on 19th April - this fighting started even before you'd set the Rochdale date/venue. Entry forms have been on our website for about 2 weeks and have already been mailed out. Entries have already been received from as far away as the north of Scotland. Do you really expect us to cancel after all the work that loads of people have put into keeping this venue with this date planned? Sorry if some of you think it's spoiling the sport, and not meaning to sound big-headed, but with a membership which includes 18 under 10 year olds and 4 feminas as well as all the older classes, perhaps others could learn some lessons from Tykes - ie: we're doing it for the members/riders and we don't mess them about by changing dates at short notice. Sorry Phil, we won't be changing the date. Addingham will be going ahead on 12th August whether 23 people attend or 123 - it's more than 'just another trial', it has now become a celebration that we are being allowed to continue to use this venue. Besides that issue, the "British Championship" has always avoided dates in August in the past in consideration for those who are travelling to the World Championships. Don't you think it is going to be very tight for people riding in Czech the previous weekend to get back, get themselves sorted and then off to a "British" round? Why have the 'committee' changed that policy for this year? .
  15. TykeTrial would happily run the Rochdale event, and any other events in the North ... as long as the club and the riders don't have to join the ACU.
  16. Don't forget the TykeTrial at Back Cowm Quarry on Sunday 15th July. Starts at 11.00am. Enter on the day! See you there.
  17. As I said, we are currently waiting for confirmation in writing. The Mayor of Silsden is on our side aswell as other local councillors, we hope that they will eventually allow biketrial riding at any time ... BUT NOT YET AND WE MUST NOT JEOPARDISE THIS BY JUST GOING UP AND IGNORING THEM. Let's get it official of what we can and can't do first.
  18. Jonathan, if you had read the other post you would see that TykeTrial has been in touch with the council and have got verbal permission to run biketrial events there during 2007. The objection is against motorcyclists. BUT currently even biketrials are only allowed to use it for a certain number of days each year. Talks have been going on with various council members, forms have been completed, and we are waiting for confirmation in writing of exactly when biketrial riders can use this venue. This is a very sensitive situation which is being handled very carefully by local parents / TykeTrial committee members. As soon as further news is received it will be publicised.
  19. Weather's fine up here in Yorkshire with sections looking good! The Marquee is all set up just in case it rains tonight ... Saturday trial starts at 1.00pm Dougie Lampkin presenting awards at 7.30pm Sunday trial starts at 11.00am. As always, late entries available ... just try and get there a bit earlier! SEE YOU THERE!
  20. The council have agreed verbally that the club can use it for events, we are waiting for this to be confirmed in writing before booking some events for this year. In the meantime, they have agreed that we can use it on 12th August for the National event. Please don't spoil it for the club by going there unless to an official organised event. We have talked about a couple of possible "training days" being booked, any information will be posted on www.biketrialuk.co.uk as soon as it is confirmed.
  21. Right, the Brimham National's over and we're getting ready for the 2-day ... if you're wanting to book food, we have to place the order tomorrow night (Tuesday) ... if you're entering the event, either Saturday or Sunday or both, we can take pre-entries up till Friday tea time. You can still book on-line from www.biketrialuk.co.uk entries page. Remember, we never refuse a late entry, but it really does help if you can get it in as early as possible! So, a bit more information ... IF BARBARA CAN DO IT, SO CAN EVERYONE ELSE!!!!
  22. Anyone planning to travel along the A59 Skipton to Harrogate road tomorrow - there's been a landslide at Blubberhouses. Don't panic though ... if you ignore the "road closed signs" and just keep going straight past them, then take the turning to "BLUBBERHOUSES QUARRY". It's a small back road, don't think you've got lost, just keep following signs for "DACRE", then at a T-junction take the turning to "SUMMERBRIDGE" and it brings you back onto the proper road which will take you to the Flying Dutchman pub. See you all in the morning - weather's looking good!
