T.McMillan Posted May 29, 2007 Report Share Posted May 29, 2007 Hi guys,I am currently running a Tryall rim with Tensile brakemounts and Rock pads. Reason for buying: It is a very tight fit for an Ashton with a Tryall rim and new brake pads, I used to have to cut the material down when using original magura brake mounts.I have found that no matter how tight the brake mount bolts are (im affraid of over tightening incase of stripping the thread) my brake cyclinders move slightly.E.g. The brake cyclinder will be pointing into the rim at one end and the other sticking further out, (the red arrows show the dirrection of movement in picture). I set the brake pad up running parellel to rim it still moves after a few gaps and general riding.I have replaced the magura cyclinder washer on both sides because my friend thought mine might be abit old, but they still move! Today I found that I can move the cyclinder with my hand, not good!!Is this a problem that i need to get in contact with tartybikes, have i just got a faulty pair of mounts, has anybody else had any problems with them.Hope you guys understand what im going on about.Please Help!?!?RegardsTom Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Posted May 29, 2007 Report Share Posted May 29, 2007 PLastic washers was also my first thought, so good on you for having the common sense to try something.I use these mounts aswell, and I have to admit my brake does move the odd time, only a little so the pad rubs against the tyre, and I have allways noticed it before it's caused any damage.I must admit it's only happened twice. Get a faily small allen key, so you havn't much leverage, and tighten up a bit harder, keep getting half a turn harder until it stops or until your seriously worried about the threads....If that fails, try using cable ties to hold your brake in position with the booster, sound's shitty but if you do it right first time you wont have to worry about it for a good while anyway....try holding it where the hoses go into the caliper, and rmeber your only holding it, not trying to tear it off!! Tom Rigg Posted May 30, 2007 Report Share Posted May 30, 2007 I had this very same problem with my vario styx, they kept on moving because of the offset on the mounts, i found filing down the edges on the top piece helped clamp the slave further, be careful you dont take too much off, the mounts wont like too much stress! Dan6061 Posted May 30, 2007 Report Share Posted May 30, 2007 Have you tried sticking something between the pad and rim when you set the brake up?Like coins or something?I always do this when I set my brake up, keeps the pads flat on the rim.
