Well on my Freeride GT ,

on a square taper the thread is gone, not the frame outer shell thread but the one aculy inside the taper for the crank bolt, should i just go chainreaction and get a LX for £15. or shal i salvage it?

my Dad saugested getting it tapped or hellicoiled ,

i dont know?

hey it would be easyer and cheaper to just buy a new bottom bracket try tarty n chain reaction to see witch is the cheapets it always helps to search round for parts to get the best deal.

with a helicoil you would have to drill and the hole bigger, this would therfore reduce the amount of material in your bb axel making it weaker and more likley to snap. and also you would have trouble tapping the heat treated steel that bb axels are made from. to be honest i would just get a new one for the sake of £15.

Thats true, it would be pointless even attempting to re-tap the thread. Just buy a new BB and an LX should be alright i'd say. What i would reccomend is that you don't get a XT or XTR BB because they're to weak for trials (Because they're XC BB's).

Hope this helps mate,
