Car Audio Help

Right, Christmas soon, and mummy said i can have some stuff,

Already ordered some m3 style mirrors for my corsa, and some lexus lights. Looking at trying to make the sound a bit better and stuff

Looking at this

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/4613.html

and this

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/3167.html

Will i be able to connect them together? so that it sounds relativly ok? Please dont start saying

'kenwood is poo', if there is a better alternative for the SAME price, then i shall look at it, and consider buying it.

I came here, because you guys tend to be good at this stuff, and i have no idea.

Thanks Again

Lee

EDIT: has someone got the sizes of a corsa front and rear speakers? I tried googling it, but found nothing

Not sure on the audio side, but theres so much better stuff to buy than lexarse lights and M3 mirrors. Look on www.LMFvauxhall.co.uk http://www.irmscher-bits.com/catalog and www.redgriffin.co.uk

I can see this turning into a slagging match about chav lights.

I already bought them, so thats sorted, if people wanna have a slagging match, go elsewhere

yea the stereos got a set of pre outs, so will be fine to wire up to your amp. seems fairly good value, but then aint had no interest in car audio for like 15-18 months, so prices have probably dropped loads in that time.

Cheers, Thanks for the helpful reply

are you planning on getting a sub anytime soon? if so id avoid getting the amp/6x9 combo becuase subs and 6x9's when they are on the parcel shelf really contradict each other in terms of air pressure and distortion of the cones making the mids and trebles commin from 6x9's sound really bad. that amp wont be good enough to power a sub either its spec is

97 W x 2 (4 ohms)

145 W x 2 (2 ohms)

which aint amazing.

if i were you, and this is just a suggestion. id go for some half decent componant speaker upgrades for your front doors, and get rid of your standard rear speakers and the 6x9's, something like.. these (just an example) and they will sound much better becuase the mids and trebs will be directed to the front of the car and bass will remain in boot. plus you dont necessarily need to seperately amp up these speakers, but u have the option to. they will still sound good without.

hope this helps buddy.

I'd upgrade the factory fit speakers before you even start on 6x9's and amps, although i'd argue that 6x9's aren't really necessary anyway. (thats my opinion before the riot starts :P)

Clicky

I bought this head unit and think its ace, also if you have an ipod you can spend a bit and get the connector so that you can select tracks etc from the head.

Just do a search for car audio on here please. These been a thousand topics stating why what you want to do is wrong. So its gonna look like every other corsa in the world then? Who in their right mind thinks lexus lights look good?! And how are you gonna make mirrors from a M3 fit a corsa? lol

my next car will have lexus lights on it. so personally im gunna have to say, lexus lights can look good, altho chances are im not in my right mind. and the m3 mirrors, are m3 copies, and base plates are used to adapt them to fit the corsa.

note: my next car will be a lexus is200, so i think its got a just reason to have lexus lights, although it will look like every other is200 in the world, but thats kinda the way standard cars go these days.

Just in the way you thought you were being clever ^^^ although ever other person knows what im saying, of course lexus lights look great on a lexus.

And the M3 mirrors, I was taking the piss, refering to the fact that he doesnt have a M3, yet is putting m3 mirrors on it

Lexus style lights only really work on cars that were designed with them and a very few others as aftermarket mods. On a corsa they will look shite, just fix up the sound system and save your money for a decent car, its what i'm doing.

This man has the right idea, in my 106, i have got a 10" sony sub, with a shark 1000 watt amp (£80 for the two, and i made the box myself to the size sony recomend) I have 120W blaupunkt speakers in the rear (about 30W RMS) and 80W JVC speakers in the front (about 25 RMS), running from a pannasonic head unit.

I did this setup on a budget, and no, its not the loudest "bad ass" system in the land, but i, along with many of my mates think my set up sounds nicer than my mates £200 subs which were already in a twin sub box when bought, with a 2000W amp, and 6x9's on the parcel shelf, and standard ford door speakers, both of which are running off the head unit. If you want to listen to music, you dont need loads of power or money, but look for things that will work well together, rather than big power ratings.

I dont no if this will have helped. but thats just my 2p

Alex.

Lexus Lights - 2001. Wank.

M3 Mirrors - Every other Corsa has them.

I'm sorry mate, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. And there's mine.

Unless you want uber loud and bassy, my mate used to just run an Alpine headunit and some Infinity 6x9's... Sounded pretty good and was quite budget too.

Home hifi is my area though so i'm not much help.

The head unit looks good for the money and will be a load better then one that you currently have :)

As for 6x9's they are not always a good idea as someone already said if you plan adding a sub. However i have them in my corsa and have fitted them in the side pannels rather then the parcel shelf as they interfear with the sub less.

IPB Image

as for speaker sizes check out this link.

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=178991

Has sizes for corsa b and c (older one and the current shape)

Also worth a browse of the site as it can answer other questions. Also sign up we are all nice people ;)

best bit of advice i was given by someone was to spend as much money on a headunit as you can. and then go from there,

im looking into getting a full JBL audio set-up in my car, but you have to have a half decent headunit if you want crystal clear music that hits the highs and the lows. it also depends if you have an ear for music.

Ditch the amp and 6x9 package. Trust me, its a waste of time. The amp, maybe, but not the 6x9's.

Spend AS MUCH on the headunit as you can afford. When I blew up my Alpine headunit, I had to use a shitty Sony one, and the difference between the two is quite unbelievable. My system sounds like complete toss on the Sony headunit, yet sounded pretty damn good on the Alpine.

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_in...roducts_id=3823

Thats the model I had. Was £180 when I got it, and was worth every penny. Its now £109, and wouldn't bat an eyelid at paying that for it again. 3 pre-outs (front, rear, and sub), equaliser, 45w per channel. Its a damn fine piece of equipment.

Think of it as an investment. You will transfer the headunit from car to car, where as, chances are, you'll leave the speakers in each car (be it because you've cut a big hole in the parcel shelf for your 6x9's, or your new car doesn't have the same size door speakers)

Get a headunit, then look at upgrading your front speakers. Components if possible, but anything is better than standard. I have these, and they are also very good.

Then look at getting an amp.

Try to buy from reputable brands, such as JL Audio, Alpine, Infinity, JBL. All of the stuff in my car is from these manufacturers, and once I get my headunit back, it will again kick ass! Its just this pile of shit Sony headunit that's holding it back.

Trust me Lee. I've been there and done that with cheap systems.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

If your not amping the front speakers, no you wont need a wiring kit, just the adapter for the head unit/car. Can you not go 2nd hand? Mainly for the head unit?

to be honest I had those speakers and ended up taking them back. Very tinny sounding i thought. Do they have to be 5.5in?

Yea i thats the max that will fit. Thats in both the front and rear, I have like 180 quid max to spend and i hate my front speakers. they are shocking.

Dude, seriously, get a decent headunit. Anything made by Panasonic, JVC, Sony etc will be far inferior.

ive tried telling him....

arrrrgghhh

like i said before dude, decent headunit, front comps, and a pair of fullranges to sit in the back to replace the standards there (unless you can afford comps back there too), then if you feel the need for more power, you can amp them later/get a sub

all nicely hidden, wont stand out for thieves and will sound fine-look at my standard setup in my toledo, its only 20w per channel and its mcfooking bassy until you get to ultra loud...
