Luke Drewery
Hi, sorry to pester you with clips of me in my garden but here is a clip of me practicing my gaps to front wheel. If any one could tell me if im doing it right, it would be much appreciated. The one in the clip is just over bikes length, and i made it first time. However, any pointers would be helpful. (Y) Anyway, watch and comment please! (Y) Here

chrishayton
well its right but if you watch most people (i do this most of the time too) they dont lock their front wheel so let it roll in more . unless you doing it to a thin object that is. Janson
try not touching the back brake when you're gapping, lets your legs move a bit more making the whole gapping motion a whole lot smoother and less sketchy feeling. Mr Motivator
Looks fine. For extra style points, try to stay on the front wheel as long as possible by locking the front brake completely and landing at kind of an angle and pushing your thighs to the bars and holding it there for about 2 secs and then wheelswap it to backwheel and kick out >_< As Janson said, don't use your back brake till you wheelswap it. It sounds/looks cooler

It does sound mint when you let your king spin though i admit.
SQuiT-man
Yeh thats fine. There is no "certain way" of gapping to front wheel, but the best way I find to do the biggest gaps to front wheel onto small platforms in particular is to NOT roll, but do basically what you did, but without turning. E.g. hold it to front wheel until you are very high into the endo, before letting go of the front brake and trying to front-back, or just go to two wheels. Luke Drewery
I think that is completely wrong. Roll, keep your momentum. But what do I know? <_< ← I prefer to lock my front brake when i land, i can roll forward and let my rear wheel roll onto the object but it doesnt look or feel as controlled for me. I either pivot 90 degrees or swap to back wheel. Anyone else watched the clip?
JIX
I havent watched the clip, but when doing big gaps to front wheel you sometimes have to gap and land the front wheel right on the edge of the object. This really helps you to get your weight forward and up because you are basically stopping dead. Then hopefully you can roll the tyre over the edge and on top.
